I was also a lucky enough to have the joy of the kings run in the man utd jersey. But despite i cannot deny that cantona is and will alwauys be in my Man utd allstar tean and imo mostly any English topp divisiuon / PL greatest team of all time selected by anyone without disablilities such as scousers-brain damage and or youngsters who bewlieve English football began in 2010 etc.. but one cannot make a team of greatest EPL players thru time without D. Irwin as well....
I was there that night that poor excuse for a supporter came all the way down the stand and said some serious abuse about his mother It showed Eric as a human being. Long live the king
He didn’t fucking hit him hard enough. What an absolute coward, he wouldn’t have had the balls to stand up to Cantona man to man. An absolute disgraceful piece of shite.
He is an all time one of the greatest with a ball but his personality and character is even more special. A great person. So many people love him and it's so richly deserved.
Yes, he's the man who make me support Man United since 1995 and I'm lucky have opportunity meet him for a few times after he retired. Have you ever meet Eric Cantona?
That 25 Jan 95 event changed the life and Career of Cantona forever, he was suspended for 8 month, he went home in France and started having Fun, neglecting training which lead to his retirement afterwards, he said: "I loved the game but I no longer had the passion to go to bed early, not to go out with friends, not to drink , not to do a lot of other things, the things I like in life". He was only 30....😢... In an Idyllic World Cantona would have won the World Cup 98 with France and Triple🏆in 99 with M.Utd and even the Ballon D'Or afterwards....
The Best I've seen in the last 40yrs watching this League and Man Utd.. the passion of waiting for the games were only when players like Eric was in the team.
I've meet him few times. I have to honest that when first time meet him I can"t say anything and I'm just like little boy who meet Superhero! He have fantastic charisma that no other player have. For me, he always be a King Eric...
i remember the 91st minute winner away at qpr jesus wow. i was in the car with my dad, coming back from a donny rovers game lol. listening on the radio it was a magic moment.
That ban from the FA was the straw that broke the camel’s back as far as Eric retiring they even had the cheek to extend it FFS! They took away his life his passion and he was never the same again sadly what an absolute legend thought All hail the King 🤴🏽
How strange it can get Cantona lose his head, but hey we love such character, he made it so easy to score goal yet has sheer class & cool head of his chip over the keeper stranded. Not every human has the same thinking, his vision, passion & hungry to entertain the fans worldwide are awesomely rewarded, down the memory lane , we have not seen anyone charmingly starstruck, an poet, actor and a man we called God of football. Victim of opposite fans frustration especially he was A French.
Well man u is the most famous club on earth by far n looking at the many great players they had its a title well deserve n of course their winning the treble that will never be bettered
That fan totally deserved what happened, I know from being at PL games that some of the stuff that's shouted at any player can be vile at times, I'm actually surprised that more players haven't reacted like Eric did
That Matthew simmons the fan who had a go at Cantona said some truly horrible things to the player involving his mother, family members. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t stand up for their family. The reason I know of the things that were said it was from a family member who worked for MUFC. He got what he deserved Simmons.
@@moodfm5673 the fan deserved it and a lot more what a prick I'm no utd fan but he eric cantona was unreal not like ya Ronaldo rolling about only player that matched him is messi
Had the FA not handed Blackburn rovers the title in 95 United would have won the title five years on the bounce.. some team and some player. Merci Eric le Roi ❤
@@juliad368 I didnt mean anythin about French people of colour as yourself who are true French, but about those who came to France "yesterday", means few years ago from French ex colonies and now they're French? Cammon..., T.Henry and players like him were/are true French players, but Im talking about you know who, and today's French "national" team is in fact a team of French Empire across the world and not French. P.S. You cannot compare African-Americans who founded USA togethar with Whites and Native Americans since day one of USA with France, which is nation/state thousand years old.
@@CroPETROforeverHR You're fully wrong about the french team of today. Actually not a single one of them even has a slight accent that could mean they were brought up outside of France. Unlike in the past, player like Trezeguet actually didnt have that great of a french language mastery. So yes, you are just being racist because you have no idea about what you're talking about. France has had african immigration for over 50 60 years, these guys are just as french as me. They grew up here, most of them have 0 links to their grandparents' country of origin. So grow up, and don't speak on subjects you have very little information about man, it's not a smart thing to do. You can disagree with immigration policies, but not deny people's identity and country just because of their skin color. They are french, end of story.
Andy Gray” I don’t think the fans realise but selling Cantona for 1 million is good business for Leeds Utd “ yep really good business 😂😂😂 An absolute monster of a player !!
There is that rumour on how things turned foul at Leeds Utd. All tempered by a vision of Alex Fergusson rubbing his hands in utter glee . " What's the price ?" A Govan boy learned in Aberdonian cattle trading ..such tightness paying for real quality ... "aye jist sign there son " 👍
I'm a Cov City fan. In the early 90s, I went over to the Villa when they played Leeds, just to see the new guy, Cantona. Always loved him, in many ways he was far too artistic and cerebral for the EPL. Can you imagine Andy Cole having a conversation with Eric? No, nor can I.
Utd won FA until Cantona showed up. Alex Ferguson gets all the plaudits for Utd's success. For his first five seasons they done nothing and then Cantona arrived.
sorry pal but! i was at wembley for fa cup 1990 and rotterdam 91. Amazing nights. United were really building a great set up. Cantona was the icing on a well made fergie layer cake. ince, Schmeical, bruce and pallister, mclair and hughesy etc etc. This was great team in the making
And they almost won it the season before Cantona arrived. So they were already a great team. Cantona was just the cherry on top of an already good team. When Cantona left, they still won the treble.
Legend enough said greatest ever player Cantona cr7 Ronaldo Scholes giggs Keane irwin scmichel rooney Charlton best law beckham stam ferdinand vidic evra van der sar hughes Ince bruce de gea neville ....
Yes, Eric is up there with the best. But he should never have been handed Denis Law´s title. That should have lasted forever. I was surprised when United fans made that decision.
Eric was a step above everyone I saw, I did not see Law play though. For me Eric is the best ever in any sport I ever followed. Absolute genius and clutch master.
@Kloppsserialbottlers it's better to be an old man than to be a young stupid fool like you. No doubt about it. Now go wash those teeth and hop into bed
