But I have to admit, growing up incredibly poor with a hardworking single mom who was a teacher, the line “she’s underpaid, she’s overworked, c’mon man shout one out to her” NEVER fails to put stinging tears in my eyes. Jeff Pierce I dont believe I do, I’m careful on that topic because I have taught kids from many backgrounds. I teach students to care for each other, care for the environment and we learn about people in history. Parents from conservative to liberal have appreciated these life lessons.

Just offhand I can think of Martina McBride and the Dixie Chicks singing about domestic abuse, Garth Brooks had 'We shall be free', Big and Rich (or maybe just Rich) 'Shutting Detriot Down'. Stone Therrien when I was in high school I predominantly hung out with black friends. Same grade, neighborhood, etc. if I walked home alone, I never saw a cop even slow down to look at me. When I walked home with that friend group, we were stopped a plurality of the times and questioned (interrogated) frequently about nonsense. We started taking a shortcut through a church yard to start avoiding dealing with the patrol units in that area. Not one cop, but 3-4. “Racism doesn’t exist because I don’t experience it” is a ridiculous hill to die on.

Eric Church comes from the Tar Heel state where unlike most other regions we have always been known to look at issues in a unique balanced way. We were raised watching our parents vote for populist Democratic Governors like Hunt and on the same ballot supporting Jesse Helms for senate and Clinton and then Bush for President. Many of our teachers and Doctors brought back progressive politics from UNC while our Pastors supported the moral majority. I'm not saying either side was right or wrong I'm only saying Eric's music has always struck a cord with our generation in North Carolina!

@@furioussherman7265 The poster was talking about how voters in North Carolina are. You then pivoted and mentioned the couple of hundred people who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6. 74 - 75 million people voted for Trump; a couple hundred people entered the Capitol. Those two things are not the same.

@@robertturak7547 I said that the people who voted for Trump in North Carolina did not do so because they had balanced and informed opinions. To highlight what Trump voters are like, I compared them to the people who stormed the Capitol building, people who were all Trump voters because they were urged to storm the Capitol building by Trump himself at a rally. They aren't precisely the same, but they are close enough that a comparison can be made.

I go around blasting this song, with the windows down in my Jeep around the protesters, just to make them mad. Not that I’m against protesting, but to encourage, people and state my mind. I’ve gotten so many middle fingers, but it’s totally worth it.
