Lost my dad to a heart attack a couple years ago. My favorite memories are listening to Clapton in the garage as a kid on summer evenings while he tinkered with tools and drank beer. Clapton’s music will always hold a very special place in my heart.

It stands the test of time for several reasons: absolute mastery of music and lyrics, terrific arrangment, phenomenal execution + recording + mixing + mastering, use of REAL music instruments, human imperfections/expression preserved. No (if little at least) samples used, no pitch or timing corrections, no drum machines, ecc. When I hear Clapton's breaths and clothes' noises at the end I can clearly see him rocking his Martin guitar to make a sweet vibrato for his last notes. It's just simply perfect and forever it will be.

I remember when Clappy (he likes for me to call him that) was writing this song and asked for my help. Initially, he had written "I will be the moonshine in your multiverse." I told him that made no sense and sounded absurd. I mean, "moonshine" is illicit booze. And what's with "multiverse"? I suggested he change it to "I will be the sunlight in your universe." He took my suggestion, and the rest is history.
