Two of the worlds best every guitarists together is a joy to behold !! Oh, and don't forget Sir Elton ;-) Today's so called "musicians" need to watch this and learn what REAL MUSIC is all about !!!
In the 80s, I and many of my "light minded" friends illegally smoked pot and stoned out of our heads. Now I am 68, I got high watching this. Life is STILL good. Thanks for the upload.
My personal opinion is Eric Clapton and his band there and Elton John and Mark just amazing what a gift thank you Mr Clapton and whoever put this here for me to listen to thank you thank you thank you
Scientist now (Aug 2022) claim the earth is spinning too fast, but I'm not sure what they likely attribute that too...I think it is spinning at just the right rate, and will continue to do so, of course things do change just that most people's little glimpse of the overall bigger picture is quite limited. If the planets spin rotation is too fast so what?
@@derekemrie2987Wake up and look out around you! The Earth isn't is rotating, just your thoughts ;) Get a drone howering in the sky and take a timelapse with camera aimed to the stars , Moon and the Sun, you will see the selestian body are rotating but the foundation called Earth is clearly and so obvisable not rotating at all!
Unbelievable !!! What a GREAT change-up for the Cream songs. Eric and Mark get along just fine. I have NEVER heard Eric play or sing this great, never missing a note. He has to be proud of this gig. The bassist, drummer, keyboardist and the vocalist are quite GREAT. This band practiced, alot. This band gels so perfect. This was a night of ALL nights. Boy O Boy. The Cream in me screams...

I've never heard of this event before, but for ~20 years, I've thought what an OUTRAGEOUS trio show would be made, of *Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, and Peter Frampton* (Frampton is SO much more than his anthemic pop hits -- YOW.) But right now, I'm going to play the rest of this one, and enjoy Elton (who is *also* so much more than his hits --Sheeesh!)
YEAH ERIC AND MARK OUTSIDE IS RAINING I AM UNDER TWO TICK BLANKETS WITH A HAT ON MY HEAD JUST SMOKING AND LISTENING TO YOU WITH YOUR BAND YOU ARE THE LEGENDS
Man o man, Eric was definitely at the top of his game in this concert!! Such great soul in his solos, creativity, phrasing, all simply beautiful work of art!
I was working in 1988 in Tokyo and took some Japanese bankers to see this ensemble. i still keep in touch with some of them. All converted to this age of icons.
Added this to our "Great Concerts" playlist after five minutes and will no doubt end up on a concert of the week down the road. Thanks for posting. Incredible show. Eric seems inspired by the young Mark Knopfler.
This is very similar to another recording he did of Wonderful Tonite i believe on the "24 Nights" CD.......it is really pretty intro and so much feeling.....I like the way he slows it up and puts more emotion into it....and the solo....WOW....
I cruised many streets listening to Crossroads , Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton , Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones ( old stones ) Muddy Waters , John Lee hooker , Santana , Deep Purple, Elton John , Elvis,
"In a white room, With black curtains, By the station…" One of the greatest rock songs ever written, performed by some of the greatest rock musicians ever to play an instrument. Bravo!
Eric Clapton is obviously one of the best. But I've never heard him be as good as he is here. Maybe Mark Knopfler inspired him to even greater heights! Nor have I ever heard Elton John tear loose on the keyboards like this!
Elton John breaks loose like that live all the time. I saw him w/Billy Joel in '84 and he played the piano while laying on the floor upside down. It was insane!!!
Fui criança na inauguração da Apoteose! Meus primos mais velhos eram obrigados a me levar!
Give me dererick & the domino's assorted love songs.-had tha 8 track.-great pot rock back in the day.. 2in alls, seconals & nebutals, rorer 714's,, ahhh yeah..!!😎👍 -& black beauties for the upswing !!
QUEEEE super cool !!!! ... they transferred me when I was 7 years old ... then I only admired them for being on the covers and famous ... now I see how great they are, perfection ... not a single mistake, zero ... all in a harmony of signs, meanings, sides of all the feelings of the ethereal soul of the human being that just as he manufactures nuclear bombs to kill more many in less time... also with those hands, mind and spirit he can create this beauty of astral travel, elevator of the being , with its incredible and unbearable lightness, above all... of all hatred, envy, embezzlement of loves twisted by jealousy... and in the end only this remains... the transcorporeal spirit of art by one of its large windows : music.
Another excellent Eric Clapton show I've never seen before made even better by the inclusion of Mark Knopfler and Elton John. What a treat. I'm not positive but I don't think Clapton ever took this tour line-up to the U.S. or if he did I guess I missed it.
Eric and Mark did tour together in North America. I saw them in Vancouver September 28, 1988! They played “Money for Nothing” in their encore. No Elton John, though...
Dios!!! Como toca!!! No se tu nombre disculpa. Al coro y banda toda !😄😍✌🇺🇾
This would have been the concert of a lifetime. Two of the best guitarists ever and Elton can play Rock Piano right up there with most anyone, my opinion is Ian MaLagan was the best but Lest we Forget. Anyway, Thanks for the Video!!!!
You get lot's of people thinking Knopfler goes straight for the pre CBS fiesta red Strat, they cannot get past the Sultans of Swing performances. He's also know for the Resonator which has made numerous appearances in his music but live you hardly ever see him with a Fender in his hands. The Wembley concerts way before the Pensa's came into use, his Guitar of preference was a Schecter Strat for the simple reason they were far better than the American Standards of the time. Some folks might not be able to deal with that but it's the truth. In an interview with John Peel he said that he used the Schecter because quality and appointment wise it was head and shoulders above it's contemporaries.
Schecter Guitars 1976-1983 David Schecter founded the company in 1976 in Van Nuys, California. It all started when Schecter opened a guitar repair shop, Schecter Guitar Research. The shop started producing replacement parts for existing guitar models. This included necks, bodies, pickups, bridges, tuning pegs, knobs, etc. Although they were producing over 400 guitar parts, Schecter did not have a complete product of their own. That changed in 1979 when they introduced their first electric guitar. Schecter is established as a high-end, expensive, and rare guitar brand. Among the few names who have played Schecter guitars are Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, Ritchie Blackmore, Chris Poland, Synyster Gates, Richard Patrick, Jinxx, Jake Pitts Tommy Victor, Dan Donegan, Robin Zander, and Shaun Morgan. In the following years, Schecter reached their production limit and could no longer meet customer demand. 1983-1987 A group of Texas investors saw this as an opportunity, buying the company in 1983. After that, they moved the company from California to Dallas, Texas. Mass production started here. One year later, Schecter introduced twelve new guitar and bass models at the winter NAMM show. The most popular model among them is called the Saturn. The Saturn is also known as the T-style. This model was actually used by Pete Townshend. During this period, Schecter managed to sign one notable endorsee, Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. Production was shut down in 1987 due to a lawsuit by Fender since they were using the S and T headstocks, which are trademarked by Fender. Fender had previously allowed the use when Schecter was just a guitar parts company. 1987-present A turning point happened when Hisatake Shibuya, the founder, and owner of ESP guitars bought the company. He relocated Schecter’s headquarters back to California. Here the company devoted itself to producing high-end customer guitars. They were only available from a few retailers. To make guitars more accessible to everyone’s budget, they opened a new plant in South Korea. Also known as the Diamant series, these guitars managed to maintain high quality for an affordable price. Guitars worth mentioning from this period are the 7-string A-7 Avenger and C-1. Electric Sound Products (ESP) Hisatake Shibuya founded ESP in 1975 as a shop in Tokyo, Japan that provided custom replacement guitar parts just like Schecter. At around the same time, ESP started producing guitars mainly for the Japanese market. studentofguitar.com/schecter-vs-esp/
