3k subs, 2millions views, 15 years of comments and still running … it's great song by a legendary artist performed with love and admiration by a great friend and his talented friends. thanks, G
indeed! … i hadn't heard about his passing until i saw your comment. i remember him most as joining paul schaffer and _The World's Most Dangerous Band_
The first time I ever heard David Sanborn's sax was on the Butterfield Band album "Crabshaw" back in the 60's and he was incredible even then. He's sure paid his dues for the last 60 years! What an incredible time it's been and now to hear him with Crow and Clapton just brings tears to my eyes! So incredibly lucky to live in the time of all of this great music! Thank you Lord!
Funny trivia I discovered: Sanborn and Clapton arranged the music for the first Lethal Weapon movie. His sax playing is very distinctive in the movie. I imagine he, Clapton and Mel Gibson had a great time making that movie
Wow ! Eric Clapton Sheryl Crow ,Steve Gadd ,Nathan East ,David Sanborn ,Andy F Low and the others I mean come on this is truly one of the best renditions of that song ever ! just stellar.
Wow..These guys plus sheryl crow are allstars and it takes an starstudded band to have a Rendition that is beautifully put together like that.. so Compactfull.🎉😎👍
Someone said it earlier..."Wow!!" What a band...and each member knew it and knew that they were sharing a special time. Definitely worth a few tears of joy.
With that smile and shrinking his shoulders a little, Eric totally approved the right participation of Mr. Sanborn, Sheryl Crow voice got me a totally orgasmic feeling enjoying this song that for me is a lot better than the original, in my opinion!
The way Clapton plays the guitar makes you fly, that is why he is the legend that he is... his playing takes you on a journey across the sky. That is what happened to Sanborn, he rode over Clapton's solo and flew away. I know that everyone focuses on the sax part, but Clapton's 2nd solo is PURE MAGIC. I can't hold my tears everytime I hear it, specially knowing what the song means and how much I identify with it.
Clapton doesn't even bother to play the intro as it should be. He is a good guitarist, but the original intro is the best intro ever made, and should not be let out.
OMG that so good... Clapton, Crow, Sanborn its just a pure drug, I have 21 years old and I listen all days Bonamassa, Clapton, Crow, BB King, JJ Cale.... Its really important in my life, I think is not possible for to live without music.
Me I’m 61 and it’s always been very important and still is! I totally agree with you. Keep your spirits high with music!! You still have so much life to live! 🫶
One of the most beautiful renditions to Jimmies chords, just like the Hotel California chords. I rest my case. Clapton and Crow have an exceptional chemistry in this song and what that represents to people in the music community worldwide. Peace from Ireland 🇮🇪
Wow, the moment every talent on stage felt and knew Sanborn was gonna steal the thunder was just plain incredible!! Not to many people can do that to Mr Clapton.
Да уж куда там, затмить самого Клэптона, просто он сам всем даёт возможность показать, себя, и не тянет одеяло на себя, и у него это при чем всегда, Бог музыки знает, что делает!Всех благ тебе мистер Клэптон!!!! 👍👍👍
Of course, remember that Eric ALLOWS others to be stars - totally unselfish. The true great ones realize that others can share the spotlight. Kudos, Eric ❤.
Well, in the few cases - I remember Derek Trucks - he just smiles and appreciates what the other guy is doing, and that's what makes him such a great musician, always ready to share the limelight.
He does NOTHING! But, then again,Clapton does nothing but read from the same book. Sanborn has never shown any true improvisatory skills. Eric doesn’t have to,(people pay to see HIM. Listen to Coltrane, and then listen to Sanborn. They wouldn’t even be in the same room together.
@@heathernicolecartier6700 There are so many young guns out there, with an understanding of music theory, along with an influence from world music’s,that make ‘Old Slow hand’s knowledge seem elementary. Don’t get me wrong-I have been a staunch believer in ‘ole Slow/hand’s influence and talent. I have been one of his staunchest fans since 1967. (When he was in the Yardbirds, then John Mayals BluesBreakers).
It's an ecstasy when you get into that trance as a musician.. as an audience it's a satisfaction for the soul.. You will always be a legend for me Mr Clapton, cudos to you Mr Sanborn. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Sanborn KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK, I've never seen Eric so animated about a solo, when Eric Clapton and Sherly Crow r impressed with your playing, that fantastic! for SOME REASON, i HAVE TO KEEP PLAYING IT OVER, AND OVER!
Whew! what a crew, Eric, Steve Gadd on drums David Sanborn on Sax and terrific vocals with Eric and Sheryl .... Incredibly Fine Talent and a great song.... Makes you sooo happy... Thank you thank you
It is indeed a class gathering of class musicians you however left out Nathan East the bass player who on this song is really prominent and one of the best in the industry
Eric and Sheryl walked towards the mikes a few times during Sanborn's solo and he was in his own word so they just let him rock on. wow! Rumor has it that if that if they hadn't started singing again, he would still be playing.
Great live rendition of one of the all time best songs ! I’m sure Jimi is smiling down on this amazing ensemble of all time greatest musicians! You can tell how much they are enjoying this! Awesome video, thank you so much!
Those three smiles, the joy and appreciation, are the most beautiful thing. There's such beauty in greatness combined with humility. No words. So beautiful.
Michael McLoughlin This was always one of my favorite songs. This group of stars would make Jimi Hendrix proud he wrote it. It couldn't be done any better.
I've watched this a bunch of times, Sheryl Crow's support vocals are so great. Everyone is really good here. Steve Gadd just laying it down. Some of the best reactions to a sax solo, lol. Everyone is having so much fun!!! Eric brings some intensity with that second solo, the energy level was really up after that first break.
I'M IN ABSOLUTE HEAVEN ❤ THANK YOU ERIC FOR GIVING ME MY TEEN YEARS WITH SUCH JOY !!!!!❤ I WOULD BORROW YOUR ALBUM FROM THE LIBRARY IN LAGUNA BEACH AND PLAY IT ON MY PHONOGRAPH ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nathan East is a wonder. I saw EC a couple months ago. After the show, Nathan stayed on stage looking over the audience, taking pictures of us. I think he realizes this is probably it for Clapton as far as touring except for one-off shows, so he is savoring every bit he can.
Great performance of Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing!! Eric did a similar version on Layla. He had just bought a left-handed strat for Jimi's birthday and was devastated to learn during the time Derek & the Dominos was recording the Layla album that Jimi had died. People who view them as rivals don't know they were actually good friends.
Pink left handed. Eric saw Jimi but couldn't get to him at a gig. Watch BBC Southbank show with Melvin Bragg and Eric Clapton. Clapton tells you how it was
Most beautiful lovesong of all Times and the whole universe, great Jimi! But whith more feeling by Derek & the Dominoes with Duane Allman & by the Carrs!
To know that Jimi Hendrix was actually a friend of Eric Clapton's... Sheryl Crow too, no doubt... makes it ever so much more appropriate... THANKS TO ALL!!!
I read that Eric Clapton had found a left-handed Stratocaster for Jimi Hendrix, yet was unable to hand it over, the very night that Jimi died... they were supposedly in the same room, kept apart by security guards from conflicting recording companies
I WAS AT THIS CONCERT CLAPTON WAS DIGGIN SANBORNE GOING OFF YOU COULD SEE DAVIDS FACE WHEN HE STOPPED AND LOOKED ANT ERIC IT WAS OH MAN GOT CARRIED AWAY THERE DIDN'T I LOLOLOL
sheryl crow, eric clapton, and david sanborn ON THE SAME STAGE?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............only on you tube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........a perfect TRIFECTA indeed !!!!!!!!!!
Eric Clapton is such a majestic all round musician! Saw him once with the Yardbirds and twice with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the 60's. Last time was in, I think, February 1989 at London's Royal Albert Hall with Nathan East on bass and Greg Phillinganes on keyboards (as here) and Phil Collins on drums - great night!
Totally agree...first saw Eric at Fillmore East with Cream in 1967, and countless times after. He has nothing left to prove but just gets better and elevates everyone he plays with!
Stupendous!!! When all that talent on stage are grinning like idiots because they know that they have been part of something special. Thank you Eric for your humility in letting everyone playing with you a chance to shine.
I've always loved David Sanborn. He had a TV show in the late eighties early nineties called At Midnight and had a ton of great people on as guests. EC was on quite often.
This song by Hendrix reminds me of some classmates that we enjoyed in high school and some are in the other life, some day we will see each other again .. 💪🏽
I cannot believe the support for such an appalling version of the most pure expression of love there has ever been for someone. Have any of these people listened to the original song and the beauty that it contains in its simple structure and phrasing.
AutomatikSystematik ...has not anyone recognized fact that Clapton steps towards micro but sax continues. That's why crow laughs and Eric smile. He went on extra rift. No one notice that.??
this will remain forever one of the most innovative tribute by a fellow GUITAR LEGEND. ERIC CLAPTON 4 JIMI HENDRIX. With amazing Sheryl Crow & Dave Sanborn
A beleza desta música do genial Jimi Hendrix é transcendental.. realmente parece que ele nos coloca numa nave e na velocidade da luz! E esta versão ficou muito legal. Hendrix, ao lado de Deus, também aplaudiu!
