Eric Hovind OFFICIALLY accepts atheism is true and accurate

For those who don't get the title, Eric Hovind put up his copy of the video under the title of 'OFFICIAL'. What makes it official? Nothing, its simply Eric trying to score a little attention, and yeah, sure under the circumstances I have nothing against a little honest reciprocation. FYI Eric will get the attention he craves. Just as did Venomfangx, Nephillmfree, Kent Hovind, Ray Comfort and many others who have prominently featured in the 'Why do People Laugh at Creationists' series. He's going to have to wait his turn to become infamous though, as 38 and 39 are already works in progress.
Eric Hovind, the Atheist, also does that 'ladies and gentlemen'- addressing the crowd- shockofgod type thing.
Yup, when someone acts in that bad a faith, you really shouldn't be surprised to find out you are dealing with a Hovind.

All people who think Thunderf00t lost the debate do not know what a loaded question is. Arguing a religious person is almost impossible. They avoid your logic with their "but God" excuse and make you seem like the loser by asking loaded questions and turning around the argument with their false logic. The only reason they believe in God is because its teached by their parents. And God is the easiest answer to everything because they cant comprehend the universe. They argue very sneaky. And they always try to act like they are right by taking off their burden of proof and giving it to you. "God exists. How do you know he doesnt?" Pretty much. Im glad Europe is very atheist. Only old people still believe in God. In the US the arguments seem so one sided because Christians are still the majority and atheists are almost rediculed for their belief. Over here when someone preaches about God they are the rediculed ones. Away from all that. Its sad how christians are excusing themselves because God is just as believable as Santa Claus. Only no ones parents said he wasnt real so they still pray and are scared of nothing being after death. They cant accept it. They are too scared and cant comprehend the universe.

@nibukiyoroi
@nibukiyoroi 7 лет назад
+Jai It wouldn't have to be predetermined, why? An omniscient entity can know every possible future and what to influence to get to it. If he can't get to some future, he nevertheless knows how it would be. Such a person's knowledge would have to take into account that the universe may have parallel futures branching every Planck time or shorter, I don't know that much about quantum physics. Basically, he would have to know every future possible, so the knowledge of every another second forwards would get exponentially bigger (as in, knowledge of every tomorrow would take up 1TB but of every 15.07.2030 would take up, say, 1000000000000YB of data because of every possible split). The entity can choose to do nothing to let the future unfold or do something to get to a future he wants by, figuratively speaking, "splitting the worldline" where needed. Why would the world only have one future? Your every decision makes the future somewhat different, and important decisions of, say, a government or multibillion company can change the future dramatically.

@ReaperEOD
@ReaperEOD 4 года назад
Well I mean, physical red will have weight such as grams of anything used to cause whatever we're making red. But all this depends on analytics and measurements.. not on our world view or philosophy of red lol. Or in some cases pedantry which is the entire case of this video. Remember kids, any conversations with pedantry will never go anywhere as they don't seek to come to an understanding, but to constantly shift the understanding until they arrive to whatever meaning they want it to be. Words don't have meaning unless we stick with them. None of what I said makes sense with pedantry, and neither would anything else.

That was what Mr. religion was going for, trying to pushThunderf00t into saying that, since there is infinite knowledge then we know nothing. Then he could say that Thunderf00t has no foot to stand on (no pun intended). Mr. religion on the other hand has _absolute knowledge_ (because god gave it to him) so he is right in saying that he does exist, and "wins" the argument. @@theoconstantinica7969 Actually he is missing a few key arguments that would be sufficient to refute the existence of God. In addition, some of his points would need more clarity. The primary argument is that something is either a primary/absolute or a contingent on a primary. Therefore if God exists, and God is omnipotent then your reason, and knowledge are contingent upon God. Since all your knowledge is contingent that includes your knowledge of God. Therefore the claim to know God exists contradicts God's existence. You can summarize it as the following, if God exists you can't know it and if you claim to know God exists then he can't exist. The premise that he was working on was the onus of proof principle in combination with the dismissal of arbitrary claim principle. If your claim presents no evidence then it is arbitrary, and should be dismissed out of hand because reasoning requires facts. The onus of proof states that the person presenting a claim must present evidence for the claim and that a person isn't required to prove a negative. On this premise though you usually have to be able to answer a barrage of claims to evidence, none of which are valid ultimately though.

To answer Eric's question: "If you knew that you had 1% of all knowledge in the Universe, would it be possible that something in the 99% you don't know could contradict the 1% you do know?" *No, that is not possible.* Something in the 99% could contradict a _guess_ that I made, but it couldn't contradict something I _know,_ that has been tested and verified. Knowledge cannot contradict knowledge; knowledge can only contradict supposition. The most that could happen is the 99% of knowledge I don't know could contain a more intricate description that only matters in specific circumstances described vaguely and imprecisely by the 1% of knowledge I do know.

Well, the knowledge that we do "know" is still ultimately all guesses. Incredibly well researched and consistent guesses, but, you know. It's a pointless thing to think about, but it's of course possible that we're in a simulation or something, and none of anything we know is actually "real," whatever that means. So if the next 1% we learn is that it's all a big trick being played on us by a magic grandpa, it's, you know, "possible." The real problem is that it's, as he says, a malformed question. It's completely hypothetical and so unless the hypothetical implication is being utilized in some other part of an argument that doesn't require it to be anything BUT hypothetical, it's answer is totally useless. It's pathetically obvious that Eric just wanted to get an atheist on camera saying that God might exist, that the universe isn't real, and that they don't really know anything, edit them into clips, and be done with it.
@deusexaethera
@deusexaethera 6 лет назад
It's not a guess once it's been researched and tested and the results are consistent. At that point, it's knowledge. There might be a more-nuanced explanation waiting to be discovered in the future, but that doesn't render old knowledge incorrect, just obsolete.
@caviler123

Shawn Elliott so its already proven that God doesn't exist?
@deusexaethera
@deusexaethera 6 лет назад
No. In fact, it's impossible to prove that God does or doesn't exist. You could search the entire universe and not find God, and it would still be possible to claim that God was simply hiding outside the universe. But also, if a powerful being presented itself to you and claimed to be God, you could never be sure it wasn't a lying demon instead, because humans lack the ability to distinguish between very powerful beings vs. _infinitely_ powerful beings. That's why belief in God has always been, and always will be, a matter of pure faith and nothing else.

So yes, he must give up his Atheism to claim he knows there is no God. All Atheism worldviews are self-refuting in this way. He claimed he can't know anything for certain, yet he simultaneously claims he knows for certain there are no gods. It's clearly self-refuting.

***** First....I'm not a religious person....yet let me address your statement here. "Believers, on the other hand, can't even fathom a universe without a creator." Atheist live in the same world of FEAR as believers do. Why?....because then EVERYTHING they know...would be wrong...and would mean they need to live within a set a parameters that doesn't allow them to justify their lifestyles/sins in the group of, EVERYTHING is ok. Everyone justifies their wrong doing....so they continue doing it. Most atheist...don't want to stop living the lives they live, an afterlife and the existence of God would change things. Remember...ATHEISTS..."KNOW" there is no God. Where believers "KNOW" there is. I believe..."knowing" something which is damn near unknowable without some grand demonstration. EVEN IF...there were a God...and "showed himself to the world"....WITHOUT A DOUBT...people would still come up with reason why its NOT true...it wasn't God, was the government, aliens, etc.
@ericredd7464
@ericredd7464 10 лет назад
kenneth mabie Congrats. Most Atheist...I have spoken with say the KNOW. I agree, the answer is UNKNOWABLE. This conversation digressed rapidly due to your superiority complex and need to put down someone else's comments and/or intelligence to make you feel better about yourself, I'm assuming of course. No matter what statement you come up with in a desperate attempt to be clever and/or witty, please don't. If my above statement wasn't true, I doubt you would have acted like the complete ass you just demonstrated being. Good day.
@ericredd7464

***** Nobody likes being prejudged on their behavior...so broadly. Which is what I responded to in the comment concerning Theists being "scared" for their NOT to be a God. Obviously...this isn't a TRUE statement of ALL theists. As my statement isn't true of ALL Theists OR Atheists. Yet....it is TRUE. Otherwise...why hold on so desperately to PROVE someone who thinks opposite you wrong? Theists aren't hurting me. Atheists aren't hurting me. Why the hostility then? Why not live and let live? Because humoring the possibility is much too scary to admit. If THEISTS believe in God and it helps them go through life....why would I want to make them doubt what gives them some measure of peace? This is the reason I choose not to talk about religion with people anymore. Who I am...to take away someone's peace of mind? Why would I want to? I don't... I truly hope...Atheists and Theists...both get what they are looking for and live happily ever after. :)

That was painful to watch. I am an intelligent person; so it's obvious to me that thunderf00t is intelligent. Thunderf00t didn't answer the "simple questions" because they aren't simple questions. They only appear to be simple to less intelligent people. As intelligent as I am; I had some trouble following thunderf00t. He is clearly more intelligent than I am. I am a Deist; but the more I watch atheist videos the more I question that. I don't know if god exists. It's an assumption I make. Assumption number 4 on the list. It's an assumption that isn't really testable. So there is much lower probability of that assumption being correct vs the 3 other assumptions. Thanks Thunderf00t for making me think.

+Trans Feminist Autism You say that you're a deist. I have to wonder if you really are a deist or if you're just an atheist who hasn't come to terms yet with being an atheist (very common for deists). I have a question for you that might help you answer that for yourself if you're in doubt (I don't actually want an answer, I just want to help you put some things into perspective for yourself if you are interested in it). My question is as follows: Is god needed to explain anything we already know? And if he is, is he a necessary step in the explanation? This is what convinced me that I'm an atheist. The realization that at best god is just an undefined variable. Basically, the realization that I only believed in the god of the gaps, not a defined god. From there it just snowballed into full atheism with god being a mathematically insignificant possibility.

+Trans Feminist Autism Thunderf00t is trying to show Hovind that the 'fourth assumption' is not necessary in order to form predictive models. If we merely accept the three assumptions, we can investigate aspects of our universe by measurable, observable means. With the fourth assumption, there is no way we can investigate it by any observable method. The fourth assumption is not 'testable' at all, or rather, Thunderf00t dubs it a 'vestigial appendage' because we can demonstrate that making a fourth assumption in no way produces any meaningful results. These 'meaningful results' manifest themsleves in the technologically and medically advance civilization we live in - all of which was possible through an abandonment of the 'fourth assumption' because it has no merit.
@berational4716
@berational4716 8 лет назад
+Keith Trimm Technically there is a god if you assume that god was the process that created the universe. So if its 2 cosmic membranes that collided and produced an innumerable number of universes then those membranes are "god" by that definition. I prefer to just say we don't know, and I don't actively believe in anything I don't know and can't know, therefore I don't believe in god. I can know based on modern scientific understanding that the gods of this world as defined by the various religions are all myth. If there were gods that were "omnipotent" or "omniscient" then we should have holy scriptures that reveal this fact. Unfortunately, for the theists we don't. Every single one is filled with absurd inaccuracies which made sense to the writers 2,000-3,000 years ago, but are irrelevant today. So for all practical purposes atheism is the only thing that really makes sense. Even if there is some deistic type god, its fairly clear there is no afterlife. Without evidence of an afterlife, it makes sense to live this one as the only one you will ever have. But that's alright. The universe got along just fine for 13.82 billion years without me and I never even noticed it and it will continue to do so until its light is extinguished. And whatever it was that created our universe will probably do so again.

Conner Langford Not to poop on your faith, I think it can have positive benefits for people (regardless on my own belief in religious doctrine, thats side point). What thunderfoot was doing was trying to prove to the creationist that his counter arguements weren't countering anything. Hence why he said about the Flying Spaghetti Monster. TF says FSM was the source of truth in the universe, but it doesn't further the arguement because he can't prove it. and that wasn't helpful to having a civil arguement, which is what they both were looking for. And the creationist couldn't realise he was bringing a bad name to his own cause. Not to mention he was using words he didn't understand. Not that i'm insulting him, he could've just asked what they meant instead of getting it wrong in silly ways (look back to where TF puts both of his hand on his head, it happens several times and even the crowd around them starts laughing at the creationist) Still. One love, connor. Anything that brings understanding in the chaos is good, just don't let the word of man, written or not, dictate the actions of a god who can transcend that. God is good, people are confusing.
