Born and raised in Texas and makes Dallas/Fort Worth his home. This Texas Blues, Blues Rock, Americana artist has been performing throughout the United States for over 12 years. Raised around blues music his entire life, Michael spent much of his young life in blues clubs receiving an Ivy League education from watching and playing with Blues legends such as Andrew "Jr Boy" Jones, Freddie King, Buddy Whittington, John Mayall, Lucky Peterson and Willie Dixon. On nights he was not in the blues clubs, he was down in the Ft. Worth stockyards, soaking in the country sounds which emanated from the honkytonks. Michael is the rare triple threat, he sings with passion, plays guitar from the soul, and writes songs of the heart.
Featured on Season 15 of NBC's “The Voice”, his blind audition song “Thrill Is Gone” has received over 9 million views on RU-vid.

His singing style and voice made him a standout in an age where pop and country singers are king.
“A wild eyed vocal that brought the crowd to a fever pitch.” -Rolling Stone magazine
In 2019 Michael released his self-titled album "Michael Lee" on “Ruf” Records where songs like "Don't Leave Me", "Weeds" and "Praying for Rain" have received worldwide critical acclaim.
Following his departure from “The Voice”, Michael was asked to be the featured performer for the legendary B.B. King’s Blues Band for 2019, playing with legends that were with the legendary Mr. B.B. King for 35 years. He recorded on their compilation record "Soul of the King". Michael got to record B.B.'s greatest hit "Thrill is Gone" on the album.
Michael Lee was inducted into the prestigious, Texas Tornados by Buddy Magazine which includes the who's who in Texas Blues history.
"In a modern age of manufactured music, Michael Lee is the flesh-and-blood bluesman we’ve been waiting for..." - Making a Scene
When asked about how he feels about his success, he said
"I am humbled by my beginnings playing to four people on a Monday night for nearly ten years just to make ends meet, to traveling the country playing my music for fans, friends and strangers, I am very grateful for all of it."

Yes, that is a marching band coat.. before he did this show, he went to his old high school and grabbed it from the band room.. In Texas of course!

I thought about playing guitar…..then I saw this video. So much for that.

I think if he ever missed a note, we would go into a cycle of despair. He is such perfection.
@MichaelLeeFW
@MichaelLeeFW Год назад
Yeah I totally agree…there was only 1 note in this entire performance that almost….ALMOST sounded wrong. He played so fast and hard his hands aged 40years 😂
@tclemmer
@tclemmer Год назад
@@MichaelLeeFW If I remember from watching this performance on a DVD, you can see a tinge of frustration when he may, just may, have not hit a note to his perfection. Crazy that you can find him walking around the Dallas Guitar Show like a normal guy. 😀

@@tclemmer haha Yup…probably instituted a self inflicted atoning of his sin after the show…

@@tclemmerThe glitch that you are probably talking about is so minor that I probably noticed it only because 1) I have watched the video so many times, _and_ 2) because after it he shakes his head most slightly, as a sign of mild disapproval. For others: it is at about 3 minutes of the video in his own channel (not this one). Why I commented on this very puny issue, is that for me this tiny imperfection (not even a wrong note, just a bit muted one) only emphasizes the beauty of this performance -- maybe reminds me that after all the player is still a human being, OSLT, ...and then the song continues!
@tclemmer
@tclemmer 11 месяцев назад
@@pete_kI agree. Most people would never notice it. I too have seen it so many times that I see his very minor facial expression of disgust that he made a non perfect note. Such a great talent.

I know what you mean when you want to just throw your guitar away after watching someone like Eric Johnson playing! I felt the same way after watching him play his stuff, and my huge inspiration Jason Becker! Eric and Jason are my biggest influences, two different styles, but the best at what they do or have done. They do not make me want to just quit guitar anymore, but just the opposite, keep playing because of enjoying it even if we cannot play like them. but if we do not continually try, then it will never happen. I'm not saying that we will be just like them, but we can be the best version of ourselves if we keep pushing on.

Love how the camera person caught so much of Eric’s finger work up close. Awesome intro to Eric’s instrumental guitar wizardry. Had to laugh at “Eric has got to be an alien”. Eric Johnson is a genius and Cliffs of Dover is the proof to back that fact. Great reaction insight.

Way too many cameramen have no idea how to shoot guitarists for other guitarists. This is definitely one of the few that is shot right. It's super clear nearly the entire time

He’s wearing the same retro,Napoleonic war era military jacket that Hendrix wore after he visited England. It’s a direct homage to Hendrix and he actually does a Hendrix cover later in this show.

Michael, I remember Eric Johnson playing at the "HOP" in Fort Worth back in the mid 70s or so, I guess Eric was around 15 or so and he was playing at this caliber even back then. The band he had was called the 'Electromagnets". They and he were unbelievably perfect is all I can say, Eric's a prodigy!

Oh Thank You ...Thank You for playing my happy song! 🤗 The way you pieced and technically analyzed this song got me all anxious ... there's so much to learn in playing a guitar! That "roller coaster" bit got me loving this song when I first heard him play at a small university gig in Vancouver, BC. If you'd consider something mellower how about reacting to my 2nd happy tune from the 90's by Joe Satriani "Summer Song"? Thank you Michael for making me smile today, woo hoo! You're the bomb! Happy song, happy song ...🎶🎸😁💖

Those Fender amps are Dual Showman heads. Just a Fender Twin Reverb in a head package. I rebuilt one about 10 years ago that had been sitting in a damp basement and full of mouse houses. It was disgusting. Cleaned it all up and rewired it completely. It belonged to a friend of mine who sadly passed away. I got it in good working order for his wife so she could sell it.

Fun video dude! I have spent hours and hours of my life attempting to steal licks from that performance and I still can't do a reasonable impression of his playing lol You can see for a split second right after 5 minute mark (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Nd7EZ3k39s.html) that there is also a Dumble behind the Marshall cabs.. talk about tonal options! Every time I've seen him there was either a Dumble or Two Rock back there sitting on top of his rack. :D Also, silicon fuzz face with a low battery doesn't get enough love!

They are Fender Twins in a custom made cab .
@SIXSTRING63
@SIXSTRING63 7 месяцев назад
Dual Showman heads. A Twin in a head sized cab, they were so tall because the transformers interfered with the reverb pan. Fender had to keep messing around to get the distance enough to not have EMF effect the pan. They originally tried to make it in a bit bigger Bassman height cab which didn’t work.
