You know, your cake looks pretty amazing for not having a recipe. Honestly. I thought it was going to be a disaster but you got actual cakes out of the oven! Great job Eric!!! 1. Cream softenbutter and sugar first, add eggs until incorporated, milk(since using it. Low mixer Add sifted dry ingredients flour, salt, baking powder (tspn not tbspn), (cocoa powder making chocolate cake). There you go. 350F

You made the whole thing without a single non-reversible blunder...I mean like there could have been so many things that go wrong, yet you made something almost perfect on your FIRST TRY! It worked! It probably had a little salty/metallic taste from one tsp too many of baking powder, and was more eggy than sweet, but the texture looked amazing considering you don't know anything about the techniques you left out. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time, beating between. In another bowl - Stir salt and baking soda into flour. Add half dry ingredients to wet and beat. Add half milk and beat. Repeat. Then beat 2 min. Aside from proportions, that's all you missed! 👍💜🧁🎂🍰

Both rising agents: Baking soda when there's an acidic ingredient in your recipe ( like lemon juice) Baking powder when there's no acidic ingredient There are exceptions and I have seen ingredient lists with both....but that's the closest I've come to understanding the differences.

I am amazed how good the cakes came out, I’d really love to know how it tasted with the sea salt in it, if it was regular salt then I wouldn’t be a little skeptical About the taste, but Eric loves us & wouldn’t lie to us, so I think the boy can cook/bake without a recipe Loki good forward to the new music and concerts. Totally irrelevant but if it's a legit question- Baking Soda: Rising agent that needs an acid (buttermilk, cocoa, etc) in order to produce bubbles to make floofy. Baking Powder: Same thing, doesn't need an acid bc it brings some to the party, and the cream of tartar in it (the acid) helps stabilize the egg and generate floof that way.
