@@charliec2966your really gonna say that when he was picking up on adesanya reads and motivating Sean to win the belt. Not to mention his deep dive into the calf kick and how to effectively defend it. Bro is a super high level coach.
One of the best interviews you’ve ever done Luke. It’s a privilege to hear an MMA mastermind like Eric breakdown a world title fight and game plan in such detail.
It was vindicating to hear Eric say wing Chun, ive been thinking that for a while obvious Sean doesn't use it at all, but it seems like he fulfills it tactically, everything wing Chun wants to do, sean does for real. Straight shots, pace volume, counters marching you down interrupt you with Straight kicks.
@@schibleh531he literally never even said hand fighting. I know it's part of it, but You're illiterate if that's all you got from reading his comment. I feel sorry for you.
lol no bro, even if you look at Sean in a vacuum, he didn't have an amazing year outside of the Izzy fight. Some notable loses for EC. CKB had a better year overall. Good coach. He might be my fav coach rn and imo the best coach for Sean but i don't think he's the coach of year.
There is absolutely nothin better than an educated student and reporter of the sport, interviewing a well spoken, open minded and intelligent coach. Ill never miss a Luke/Nicksick interview.
In real time, he said he thought it was 48-47, but after said 4 rounds to 1 was the right score card. Everybody has bias opinions. He's been open about that with his towards Adesanya @@EliteMMA.1
Luke's interviews with coaches are always amazing, but this one might be the best one he's ever done. The questions were great and most coaches arent as open and honest as Eric was here. Well done 10/10. Eric Nicksick for coach of the year!
This is very true. Ended up just watching at home by myself cause didn't want to drive drinkin 35 miles to hang with my buddies. I was jumping off the couch at home ! Lol. And I'm 53 old ass man. UFC moments are unreal !
This is a little bit of a take I dont get; it seems to me that Sean talking so much like he's from a trailer park has fooled people into forgetting that he's a top 5 middleweight in the UFC- that by definition means he's an athletic freak and a 99.99999999% member of the human race, and its not THAT shocking the number 5 guy beat the number 1. So McDonald's employees shouldn't take TOO much confidence from seeing him win lol
'anything is possible' not really dude why are you guys trying to make it sound like an amateur fighter beat Izzy, obviously it was a big upset but guys a high level boxer with some of the best defense in the whole UFC, this was no miracle, his style works well against Izzy's style
recognized this when he was nothing but classy with fernand after ngannou beat gane, but yea, nicksick seems like a real respectful (and obviously very good!) coach
eugene did the same for him on submisson radio, yall need to stop letting yall hate for izzy transfer into everybody around him, if you hate the man, hate him alone goofy@@bentotravels
There's a lot of shit things about mma and the world in general now, but it's interviews like this that make me appreciate being alive rn to witness it all. The fact that we get to watch/listen to a coach like Nicksick break down the process that went into getting Strickland into the form he was in at 293 is insane to me. Feel like forbidden knowledge lol. This man better win some awards this year is all I'm saying...
Luke has earned a lot of respect for me this week after the Strickland vs Izzy fight. Many media members aren’t giving Sean his flowers, and are trying to focus on what Izzy didn’t do, instead of what Sean did right. Luke has had nothing but positive words about Sean’s stellar performance. One of my main critiques of Luke is that sometimes he lets his political/world views taint his commentary on fighters. He has done none of that with Sean, and I find that growth to be something he should be proud of.
Luke will sometimes let his political views impact his views of certain fighters true likability or greatness but one thing I’ve always loved about him is that I feel he is extremely fair and honest with his scoring/breakdowns of fights.
Damn, I always knew Eric was an amazing coach, I never knew how deep his thinking and understanding of people and life in general is. This is the type of person you follow into battle. True leader.
Luke is the fkn man. He owned up to not believing in Sean( 99% of us didnt). Did a film study and has the Eric on to talk about it. Eric is definitely one of the best coaches out right now
Yup hes a better man than 90% of the negative cxxts that turn up here to berate him for an opinion they come to hear but cant accept it when hes wrong or they disagree
I think plenty of people suspected it could play out the like the Strickland/cannonier fight or yoel/izzy fight. I figured it'd go to a decision, didn't think izzy was going to dominate like eveyone else did. Didn't think Sean would pull it off, but felt it was going to be closer than eveyone was saying. Izzy fights to the level of his opponents most of the time, if Sean gave him nothing to work with, izzy wouldn't do much, and Sean would lose the rounds for not doing much, and izzy would get another boring decision win. I think the ufc also didn't want to book the fight for fear of it being another izzy/Romero fight. Crazy how a few tweaks to Sean's game made all the difference.
Nicksick talks about MMA on such a granular level that it's insane. When I hear him say something I feel like my MMA knowledge expands in like 5 different directions at once. When I'm watching my favorite fighters and I see him in the other guy's corner, I know it's not gonna be an easy night. Give this man Coach of the Year.
This went from a fight I thought was going to be a boring, one way domination, into one of the most nuanced and interesting fights i've ever watched. The work you are doing elevates the experience and illuminates details I would have otherwise missed. awesome stuff!
This is easily one of the best interviews I've ever seen and I'd have never expected that before I clicked on the video. Luke asked A1 questions. Eric gave incredibly in-depth great detail on behind the behind-the-scenes of the fight and showed his incredible knowledge and detail as a coach. You knocked it outta the park with this one boys. This could legit be one of the best MMA interviews of all time. Am I the only one who feels this way?
Sean is a great champion I think he’s amazing we have had the same experience with childhood and I am very happy for him. 🙏🥋🇦🇺 I have trained Karate most of my life and that has definitely helped me in life Sean has a great team behind him.
Dude this guys has so much knowledge and not just having the knowledge he teaches it in such an effective way to his fighter he had a gameplan for everything plan a to plan z Izzy does . Izzy switched southpaw orthodox didn’t matter Erick knew what adesanya was looking for in either stance .
So weird, I don't think Sean looked anything but focused on the walk out. Erik and Sean are the people I would want to hang with if ever given the opportunity. Much respect. Favorite coaches....Erik and Trevor W
@momenhassan1703 overseeing but not the one in the grinder everyday Still important for gameplanning, overseeing training is done and fascinating a lot of logistics if necessary. So important but not the main 1-1 coach this time
ngannou already won. UFC champ and defended the belt, scared Jon Jones into retirement, and now is securing the bag of a lifetime. After Conor, he will be the #1 earning MMA fighter after the Fury fight regardless of outcome, that's a guaranteed win in life.
Eric is such a warm person. Also love it that Potan invited Sean to train. It's like he wanted to pay a debt because Sean took a fight with him when everyone refused.
Man amazing interview. Had no idea how smart and articulate Nicksick was. Was cool to hear the follis and Tompkins praise - had no idea his connection with those guys.
This is the best coach in MMA and it's not even close. He's taking the professional coaching skills of football and translating it into MMA. Genius dude.
Relatable, insightful. No masks. Strickland is "I am. Take it or leave it." Nicksick is the mentor and friend we all need. Everyone needs a champion, what a great combo. LFG!
Class act. They are changing the game with the leg kick defense. No one has shut down Izzys leg kick game like that. Just awesome shit. The fight game reality changing before our eyes in real-time.
Eric's passion and care shines through in this interview. You can feel the love he had for his students and for the sport of MMA. Seems like a top quality human 👌
Damn, Nicksick gave Luke his flowers. Awesome to see, great interview. Coach really got into the X’s and O’s and I’m here for it like hearing his perspective was like watching a director talk about the making of a film or something. Idk but it was great. Thank you for this amazing content.
The level of respect for Luke demonstrated by Nicksick throughout the interview and highlighted in the end is amazing. Two legends of MMA in this video talking about a historic moment, what else could we wish for? Fantastic!
Luke is a coward who on Twitter was trying to get 2 fighters fired because of their post fight interviews. Luke is a journalist and a coward. Not a fighter he isn't a legend
what I really respect is how he's leaving a well of knowledge right here for free and I love the CKB style and maybe I'm wrong but those guys are really clingy to their knowledge and try not to give it away while Eric is giving it all away, I really respect that
Yeah I was annoyed when commentators commented on him looking nervous and then tried to say during the fight that they must’ve been mistaken. He was worried. He was nervous. And he performed. You have to have courage. Running into the fire recklessly is not something you want to do realistically
Theres only luke who will asks all of the questions you wonder as a fan, the depth of it...super thankful for these indepth coach/technical mma interviews
Love the bond these guys have at xtreme coture, seeing chris curtis cry watching sean win and hearing erics feeling, it makes the room a little foggy for me
Very cool to hear Eric give Luke his flowers and discuss his friendship with him! You could see it light Luke up! I hope he can take it to heart and carry it with him! Not sure he realizes how many people truly look up to him and appreciate his contributions to the game and his viewers! Soak it in Luke!!!
What a fascinating interview man. As a fan it's cool af been able to hear about some of the stuff behind the scenes, how Sean developed his style, etc. etc.
It’s awesome to see two quality and knowledgeable fighting enthusiasts talk. Also, happy Luke is getting his flowers openly from reputable individuals in the fight game 🎉
Luke is really good at interviewing coaches!!!!! I know he doesn't like to do interviews but damn dude! This one and his others with coaches have all been great! I was glued to my chair. Replayed parts a few times. Very good.
Incredible coach , but more importantly an amazing MAN to look up to …. Proof is undeniable : just look at the journey his fighters are on and how successful HE has helped them to be 🤜🏻 and of course as always, phenomenal interview Luke , Here since Day 1 , MK & LIVE CHAT 👍🤜🏻
I'm normally not a Luke Thomas fan, but this interview was outstanding. Very well done, and excellent questions to draw out how this fight happened behind scenes.
I get nervous when the coaches do long interviews, knowing that a rematch is going to happen. I just know CKB people are listening every single word coming out of Eric’s mouth to build their rematch game plan😂
@@recentupdates3272 but Eugene is very tight lipped when it comes to game plans. Eric revealed that they planned to throw when Adesanya feints and how their main focus was checking leg kicks. Eugene does not reveal these kind of details
