i can't fathom how nerve-wracking that would've been to keep having to audition, he really added so much to the show and it's cool how he felt he really deserved that part/it was the perfect fit (which it was)
He was so funny. There are moments I will never forget. Cam dressed for "Cats" stuck in a tree having to be rescued by a fireman. Suddenly realizing he's doing Brando when calling for "Stella!" the dog. Running and screaming that he just "swallowed the sun" after eating food that was just too darn hot. He deserved his Emmy wins. Wonderful character, meticulously, smartly created by this brilliantly comedic actor. I'd love to see him in another sitcom as a Jackie Gleason Honeymooners type of blue collar guy, something totally different. He'd be great.
Very relatable story. This is also exactly why that show was such a hit. They hired the right, funny person regardless of characteristics. It’s the opposite today both in front of the camera and behind the scenes and that’s why so many things are awful now.
LORD GOD THAT IS THE GOSPEL TRUTH!!! No Talent Garage Bands That Cant Even Tune Their Instruments Or Hold Their Hands Correctly When Playing The Piano "ACTORS" and "MUSICIANS". That are Shoved Down Our Throats Until They MAGICALLY APPEAR On "BEST OF LIST" and :TOP THIS LIST" THAT ARE NOTHING MORE THAN PAID FOR ADVERTISING ! ! !
Probably my favorite character on MF is Cam, partly because he reminds me of myself in many ways, but mostly because he is just plain funny. Thanks Eric! You did a wonderful job with Cam, I hope to see a reunion show or spin-off, those characters are just too good to keep on the shelf forever. Take care!
I’m so glad Eric got the role as Cam. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that role. Casting has a lot of pressure too because not only are they looking for the actor that fits that role, but also the chemistry and relationship of the other cast members. It really helps make it all come together.
One of my favorite Cam moment was when he tried to compete with the Lesbian couples to get Lily into this private kindergarden. When he spoke to the principle and said in this native Americam accent: "I well my white man name is Tucker. I am 1/16th Cherokee. Ready for child to sore like Eagle!" Mitch's instant reaction was: "Ohh God!" 😂😂😂
some of these stories happened to the writers in real life. Every episode was just too dam funny. The 2 animal balloons on top of the car humping each other, I died !!!!
I suspected the ones casting the part had a visual of what they wanted Cam to look like and it was just that Eric Stonestreet had a different body type. In the back of their minds, though, they KNEW he was good and he worked in that character BUT I bet they had to drop their vision of what they THOUGHT the the character 'should' look like.
I can't relate to fame being the ultimate goal. That's clearly Eric's goal. He wants people to know his name. I'm more like George Costanza: I don't want to be remembered. I want to be forgotten.
@@jstmarton I *do* get it. There are millions of people like Eric who think that becoming famous is the goal. They live and breathe and dream for the day that they will be admired by millions. It's basically a form of validation for them. They need others to love them in great numbers. The more famous they are, the more validated they think they will feel. It's sad, really.
It was a little confusing, but he said he's is a relationship with another man and he's the paternal one-referring to the other man. So Cam needed lighter clothing...because he wasn't the paternal one.
@@Jumbaride I had to listen two it twice to figure it out. The show even had the story line where Cam was considered one of the "school mom's"...and Cam didn't like it. Have an awesome day.
