Dr. Thomas I want to thank you for your inspiration...I'm a 47 year old African American teacher in Brownsville Brooklyn and Jamaica Queens. In Brooklyn I do Restorative Justice work with middle school children and do Restorative work in the Queens High School. I've shown your videos to my students and I'm fighting daily to find my inner dawg and inspire them to do the same. My mother was incarcerated when I was 15 for drugs and did a 15 year sentence. When she went to prison she sold our home and I was able to attend and graduate from Howard University. I moved to DC with my father who came back into my life and showed me by example what it means to be a human being. He overcame homelessness, crack addiction and beat cancer 5 times before he passed away in 2010. His sole purpose was to inspire others and I try to do the same. I've lost over 35 pounds from bike riding to work since I saw your video in July (Westbrook 2.0). My purpose in life is to return to my community and do what I can to inspire hope and let them know that their lives are precious. Just wanted to say thank you as you are indirectly responsible whenever I inspire another youth. Thank you

I am so hungry for it. You’ve opened my eyes on developing a strong routine. I have to work two jobs or my family won’t eat. I have to go to the gym because I need to be healthy. I thought I couldn’t make my dreams come true because I was too busy, but I made my dreams become emergent in my life. Now I’ve realized that I have 24 hours everyday. I was going about my 16 hour days thinking there is no time for anything else. I said goodbye to sleep and only see sleep a few hours a night. Now I’ve generated 25 hours a week plus my two days off to grind and they fatigue doesn’t bother me because I AM HUNGRY! Thank you for mentoring me Eric, I will make it up to you one day.

I like having symbols to push myself so I do things for my family and not myself. Like the spraying of perfume, I have little symbols of my family to remind me.

I didn’t get accepted into something I know I have the skill for. This is my wake up call. I need to have more than just the skill. I need to stop caring what other people think and wake up and grind. I’m ready. I don’t give a crap if I look to big and muscular. I’m going to be the best at whatever my passion is. Right now I know i shouldn't be at these jobs. Catch the plural of jobs. But my dream was to be a housewife. My passion is kids. I have a child who is 21 and he is not ready to be grown. He's the youngest of 4 boys and he is the only one left. And he has a 2 year old. I will be 53 years old but I have to stay and take care of this baby.

It's a difficult thing when you realize that who you are is not going to bring you where it is you want to go. That your world view is broken and you need to change. Turning the soil of your soul is a hard painful process. But still better than the alternative.
