Eric Ziehm is a dairy farmer from Hoosick Falls, New York.
After getting a degree in animal science from Cornell University, eric returned to the family dairy farm in Cambridge and helped grow the operation to 1200 head and 2500 acres farming in a conventional system.
Feeling a desire to expand and diversify, Eric founded High Meadows of Hoosick LLC in 2017. High Meadows currently has 260 milking and dry cows with 100 head of young stock on a 300-acre certified organic dairy farm. Cows are rotationally grazed on diverse pastures and play a critical role in caring for the land that can sequester large amounts of carbon.
Since its inception Eric’s goal with High Meadows has been to be on the leading edge of the organic regenerative agriculture movement. Such practices as adaptive grazing, no-till, and cover cropping allow this management system to thrive.
