Good to see the way it used to be, high & wide loads, GEs running LHF, an ALCO RS3. Wish I could time travel!

The first scene in Akron, coming past Union Station taken from behind the former E-L station, must not have been shot before 1974, the year E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall at U. Akron opened - the concrete building with the slanted roof behind Union Station. I'm a native of Akron and an alumni of UA.

5:40 is the east abutment of the Northern Oho Traction & Light's Wadsworth Branch in Norton. The photographer is standing on the west abutment.

my mother grew up with the EL in Kent when it still had a yard! (I always always refer to this as my mother's railroad). it's hard to believe the majority of the EL west of Youngstown was abandoned in the early 80s under Conrail.

Thank you for sharing. Fantastic video, my hometown, Leavittsburg, and SN tower, saw many EL trains from the high school library window. 👍

Where was SN tower? Leavittsburg looks like it has no railroads now.

@@Automcaniceverything is gone even the high school, just a single set of rails that are out of service. From the RT5 / 82 bypass you could have seen SN tower.

1:37 tumbling alert almost derailment 😮

No way, just harmonics. Wild have to be several times magnitude more violent for derailment.
