Even though you were interrupted by Griffin I see the point you were trying to make Andres. In the United States violance in movies is so normalized but as soon as nudity happens its always "they didnt have to show it, the implication is enough"
I don’t mind Erik Griffin in general but holy shit he really brought this episode down. I thought the initial “debate” on nudity in shows/movies was great at first, but Erik couldn’t let go of the topic for like 70% of the pod. There’s so much irony on his tangent with Emilia Clarke because at the end he would’ve rather had her breasts out than the blanket over herself.
I’m about 25 minutes into this. I think Griffin is a classic repressed American. No wonder he said that ‘more lingerie’ thing. Lol. Andres is so confused with his uptight attitude about nudity. Erik absolutely sees any nudity as sexuality. Hmm. 🤔 I didn’t even see this movie yet. Now I want to see it.
Eric griffin is the the type of guy who would have no problem in watching 2 hrs of people dying in all sorts of incredible ways (in every other action movie), and simultaneously be shocked by a bit of titty. The human body shouldn’t be a taboo yo, and a male director shouldn’t be called a ‘pervert’ for portraying it. You don’t need to be a film academic to understand the point of this film.
Exaaactly I am such a dimwit with artsy movies but even I got this one. And he completely contradicted himself with the violence talk...said it shouldn't be watered down and he wants all viloence in full detail with an R rating. But with nudity he says "it's lazy" and thinks it's better when people cover up or they just imply stuff. This was such a frustrating one to listen to 😂
He’s completely wrong on the nudity. But it was nice seeing him initially not know what the movie was about, but through discussion, discovered what it was about. Its also based on a book. Not sure that was mentioned.
I just found out that Emma Stone produced Poor THings. I loved this film so much. Love how Erik loved this movie and how his brain perceived Bellas behaviour. LOVED THI FILM
Four bros talk it out until they understand the movie. It’s like they dip in and out of topics tangentially related to the themes but hit moments where they eventually circle back to the film. Hallmarks of a good movie and a great podcast episode. Loved it!
Wow Erik is such a prude! Was hoping for some interesting takes...but all he had to say is "I don't get it" and too "much nudity"...and won't let anyone say much else 😂
I've watched almost every episode of this pod , have they ever mentioned where they got that skeleton act from? Cause Craig Ferguson might have something to say about that😂
Oh boy pious Goody Griffin over here. The thumbs up is only for Andres and Pete. As an American woman, I feel the nudity/sex scenes were perfectly fit for the film and very realistic. It almost felt like a woman made those scenes, which makes perfect sense now that I know Emma Stone produced the movie!
And Erik is asking, what point was being made other the doing it being the point, which I guess is a ‘point’ but that in itself could be argued to be lazily thought out.
Had to stop and come back, still couldn’t get to the end - Eric repeated the same line about ‘I haven’t seen Emma Stone nude before’ no less than 5 times like wtf get over it 😂 49 minutes in and they’ve spoken about the actual plot and story of the film for barely 2 minutes! Just Eric stuck on nudity, what a joke - I’ve never not been able to finish a VHS episode, this is the first 🙄 And Andres tried so many times to move on… but Eric kept back on the nude topic! What a frustrating episode 🤬
If I had to pinpoint it, it's as if he's never interested in anyone or what they have to say. He has the confidence and bravado of someone who people like to hang on to every word but isn't that guy AT ALL.
If you view it through a very narrow lens. It's more introspective than that, if you can see it. It's about going through life and finding who you truly are without everyone else's voices. Barbie is only the tip of the iceberg of this concept.
Bro this is why i love erik griffin!! The way he analyzes movies is special! He doesnt fall easily into the whole movie hype full of stars gimmick. Hes right, ive seen this movie and it was a beautiful movie and the acting is amazing BUT i had no idea what the purpose was lol like that old Johnny depp movie,Don Juan de Marco, amazing acting and dude gets laid alot but pointless confusing movie😂
@@littlewigglemonster7691 the best comedians are winers though lol George Carlin,Katt Williams,Bill Burr they over analyze and in comedy thats very important
I doubt he will see this but on the off chance, Erik- why did you stop having guests? I would binge, Bad Friends, Tigerbelly, Riffin with Griffin, Scissor bros, Jeremiah wonders ams the steebee weebee show all week but then you stopped having guests altogether? What gives?
This episode is just evidence of how good a movie it was, just cos it shows how many ideas and themes you can talk about (even if most of it them are "Emma Stone took off her clothes")
