Erika Slezak's daytime emmy best actress wins in 1994 and 1995, OLTL, One Life to Live.mpg 

I absolutely adore Erika Slezak. Let me also state that I'm a huge Susan Lucci fan. However, I could not have been more appalled at how some of them behaved after the 1996 win, i.e. I heard some booed this marvelous actress. As a Lucci supporter, I'd have been embarrassed had I gone to that ceremony. Erika Slezak is one damn great actress. Every time she secured an Emmy nomination and/or win, those victories were deserved. Slezak not once faltered in her performance throughout One Life to Live: every day she put in enormous effort to bring Viki to life, including during abysmal storytelling. Talk about a pro! On top of that, Slezak herself defended Lucci time and again during her losing streak, even going so far as to say in 1996, "I won't apologize for winning but some people think I ought to as they say I 'beat Susan Lucci'. I hate that word. I didn't beat anybody". Folks, you can't get anymore classier than that statement. Throughout those 19 nominations, Slezak supported Lucci, went to bat for her, was gracious and classy, repeatedly indicated she knew Lucci deserved to be honored/nominated. If anything, losing to Slezak five times would be an honor because you'd be happy knowing all of Slezak's incredible talent was being recognized. Slezak deserves nothing but the utmost respect and that includes Lucci's base too. Show her class, dignity and admiration, as Slezak showed why she lasted in daytime for 40 plus years. On top of that, how can you NOT love her Emmy acceptance speeches?! They are full of grace, humor and humility. Ms. Slezak, you EARNED all your nominations AND wins. Never apologize for doing your job over the years at OLTL.

I’ve started watching daytime 1982, 6th grade at 11 years old. My family watched ABC. I discovered other channels/soaps around 9th grade. However, OLTL & Vicki hold that special place/connection/unexplainable affinity. So glad I got to experience the soap opera art form at the tail end of their golden era before the decline. Nothing like our beloved soaps in their heyday. I’ve watched them all at one point. Smiles & fond memories. Good times

Besides Susan Flannery, Erika Slezak is definitely one of the greatest soap actresses to have ever done it.

So proud that erika is the greatest actress ever in daytime and has the record for Emmys wins for lead actress on my fave show . The woman honestly could have won every year but this one was her absolute best year for her work in 95 it was the d.i.d. story and to play 7 personalities I saw the 3 faces of eve, erika would have blown out joan crawford or was it better Davis? Anyway this woman is the best actress I've ever seen and I ve watched a lot of movies tv etc. And daytime is the hardest and least recognized sadly

I heard that Lucci's fans booed Slezak for her win in 96. If that's the case, they all deserve nothing but utter shame. I'm a Lucci fan myself but feel embarrassed that they would disrespect such a classy lady in Slezak when she herself earned all her Emmys in her own right, turning in stellar performances every day. If you want to lose to anyone, let it be Slezak who offers nothing but pure sophistication. She ALSO rooted for Lucci to win after all those years.

Erika is such a classy lady and I love her work as Victoria on One Life To Live she has such grace and such class and I like the fact that she thinks highly of the other women in her catagory those wins were well deserved and well done to Erika

What's so disrespectful? Lucci acknowledged Slezak's win by saying she would have voted for her anyways. The standing ovation resulted AFTER Slezak's glory received its appropriate celebration (i.e. the win itself, her speech). Slezak earned her moment to shine and appropriately capitalized on it. Furthermore, I'm one of Lucci's biggest fans and love how classy Ms. Slezak has been over her multiple wins juxtaposed with Lucci nominations.

Where is the Emmy Win for Erika in 1992?? That is the year almost the entire audience stood up and clapped for Susan (Susan was hosting that year and was on her 13th nom I think) After Erika won and was off stage and Susan started Hosting again, the audience clapped for her which resulted in Susan breaking down in tears due to the audience clapping. Totally disrespected Erika's win to be honest. Susan acknowledge that Erika was good, etc..etc... Embarrasing moment for BOTH ladies!

"out of script"...we're talking about awards shows here. Nothing ever comes across as planned on every show, for crying out loud. There have been moments on awards shows where a losing nominee is either applauded (understandable for Lucci. She elevated daytime TV to new heights. As she also was the host that broadcast, that made the accolades easy to deliver) or jabs their loss (or another does). You sound rather high strung about this...why I don't have a clue.

i wanna see her win from 1992 does anybody have it and if its humanly possible i would love to see GL's best drama series wins from 1980 and 1982 (and the writing win for GL in 1982); Brian Bloom's win from 1985 (I wonder what submission he picked that year); Larry Gates win from 1985; Kathleen Noone's win from 1987; Andy Kavovit(ATWT), kIM zIMMER(gl), GL's writing team, and SB's drama series and directing team win from 1990. Please tell me somebody has those clips

You don't think it's disrespecful for the audience to clap when someone win's, they do a speech, and they walk off stage... and as soon as one of the other nominees (who LOST) appear, they start clapping... which was totally out of script?? Susan starting balling in tears, which was also out of script, because the audience added fuel to the disappointing fire. Everyone should have acted professionally and just moved on! Susan wasn't the only losing nominee!

Erika didn't win in 1994.. she has won emmys in 1984,1986,1992,1995,1996,and 2005.

During awards shows, you show respect by applauding during the nominees names being announced (and in this case) and during the nominees clips being plays... you applaud the nominee who wins the award... you don't applaud a 3rd time when the losing nominee continues their 'hosting' duties. It was disrespectful to the winner. It basically tells the winner: "hey, you won, be we kinda wanted so and so to win!" THAT'S RUDE! You seem to think it's ok to defuse Erika's winning excitement moment.
