Lisa McGee can't fool me. She may not have let them end up together in 3x07 but their interactions during that episode show otherwise! Finishing each other's sentences? James caressing Erin's shoulder and her not swatting his hand away? The two of them dancing without any hint of awkwardness at all? The two of them being the main characters who were given the final interaction/scene in the series? No way they weren't a couple then and there! 😂 All jokes aside, I'm very happy with how the show ended! It focused on the friends and rightfully so. Besides, Lisa did promise us that they end up together down the line, so I'd rather take that instead of being chastized and accused by creators themselves (which is what's been happening these days) for coming up with such "fantasies". 💜
Exactly! Their body language said a lot about their feelings towards each other. That caricature drawing of them in that scene was also another detail suggesting their relationship❤️

they absolutely 100% ended up together as an old married couple, even if it hadn't been confirmed. Plus I'd rather the knowledge that eventually they got together properly rather than a squeezed-in "and they lived happily ever after" kinda knowing it wouldn't last like a lot of TV does. Like this we can all imagine their lives together
I low key shipped them from the start (as I tend to with stuff I watch lol), and I was so excited when they kissed! Then so disappointed that they didn’t end up together! At least the creator of the show said she seems them together in the future, but I wanted to actually see it! Great compilation! ^__^

most of these I disagree with - one of the things that I love about the show is that it has a group of flawed teen girls primarily interacting with each other, and has a flawed teen boy who interacts with the group primarily as a outcast turned friend, so while I also got the sense they were moving toward Erin and James having romantic feelings (especially when he leaves the Dr. Who convention for the dance) I don't think it was necessarily something they were hiding in secret glances all along either. That said, to all the people complaining it's sudden...have they met teenagers? Cause every time I've been around teenagers it literally has been people who have been friend for years being like (to each other) "I just woke up today and realized that I've been in love with you for years" and honestly puberty is wild so it probably did take them years to figure how romantic love feels different than friendship but on the other hand as an adult you're like "how does anyone survive living like this?)
I want to ask: Have they BEEN teenagers. Because I certainly remember all sorts of overwhelming emotions that I couldn't categorize or understand or categorized wrongly at that age.

I’ve always thought Erin had the tickets all along in that episode. I went and re-watched it and they never mentioned James having the tickets or giving them to him.
lowkey shipped orla and james, their embrace when James was gonna leave thought it hinted at a possibility but they made Orla more odd and I then saw the potential for Erin.
Yeah that is typical Derry... when people tell you no one cares what you say or slag you off and you just roll with it... you're part of the squad then because if you can't... cheerio The biggest compliment a Derry Girl or Guy can give is to insult you relentlessly while spending all their time with you and looking out for you even when you don't see it...
Honestly I don't think they focused a lot on developing them but I wasn't put off when they admitted feelings for each other. The show wouldn't have been as enjoyable if they devoted time to a true romantic sublot with the two of them. The material that was there still managed to support the fact that they liked each other.
I was hoping for a final scene in the end with these two actually hitting it off an making it public but… I guess that is what happens in the future maybe they continued and had a family or maybe it’s left to our imagination hm
With the very final scene when I saw the US street I instantly imagined that it was going to be Erin and James living in the states. James would’ve gone to be a movie director and Erin would’ve just finished writing a book called Derry Girls and maybe the postman was just about to deliver her the first physical copy or something similar. But alas we got Chelsea Clinton instead
If you still haven’t, give it a go. It’s really fun and some of the best characters and moments aren’t in this video. Each episode is only about 20 minutes so not too hard to squeeze in. You’ll be able to tell within the first two episodes if the humour is to your taste.
At the wedding reception when Rock the Boat comes on James pulls Erin in front of him but she falls back in the crowd so he reaches his hand out to bring her up to the front with them. Then afterwards you see James gave Erin the spot in front of him when they’re all sitting rowing on the floor. I thought that was cute how in a small way he was looking out for her then
This is the video that made me find out about Derry Girls a week ago and I'm now obsessed. It's all your fault! 😆 I don't think the obsession will be over until DVDs come out. And if they pull a Cold Case, I'm screwed.
