Wow.... You can buy plastic circular looms for cheap, but I looked up these professional ones? If you backed your camera up, I am assuming this takes a whole working table with the strings coming from above? These machines are NOT cheap and have been around for a long time. More timeless than sewing machines I think. Very cool.

As a machine knitter (and former very slow hand knitter) the "its cheating" thing hand knitters often come out with is frustrating. First and foremost, it is not a competition, creativity doesn't have any rules about what tools we use to create our work. Sewing machines aren never seen as "cheating". That is a good comparison and a better known tool, much skill is still needed to create a good quality finished article. Perhaps it's a marketing failure on the part of the knitting machine manufacturers. Someone I know once asked me how many knitting machines I could run at once, I think they thought I just stuck in the yarn and hey preso, one jumper 🤣 I don't know about industrial machines but they're probably closer to that. I'm guessing that most people are unaware of the full spectrum of machines available.

Are you talking about the inner mechanism, gearing, and how the needles move; or, the principle behind what happens to the yarn?

@@WiKiTWoNKa : Gears, man. Gears. Actually, the needles move in a track that revolves around them. The track is a slot shaped like an upside-down 'v'. Kinda like -----^-----. The track pushes and pulls the needles, which are latch-hooks, so every pass makes another loop. After all, knitting is crocheting turned sideways.... even though it's far older than crochet. You can probably find a better explanation somewhere else online. Look up "knitting machines". Hope this helped.
