I think you can tell with how comprehensive his answers are when he's talking to someone he knows gets it versus someone who gets paid to write articles.
The things that really makes Haaland stand out are his old-school mentality and his uncomplicated demeanor. He's not about the glitz and the glamour, the fancy cars or the ridiculous haircuts. He's all about football and striving for excellence at what he does. I don't think he's the most multidimensional striker by any means, but he's terrifyingly efficient in front of goal. He knows how to score, as simple as that. A true no-nonsense dude whose off-pitch persona matches that of the footballer.
He has surprising finesse, though. He's def gonna hog the penalties, but if a pass is better than a shot he's always going to give it to a team mate. And his chips are amazing. I just mean he's not some bull like Christian Vieri or anything. Just as strong, but a lot more layers to his game.
Agree 💯 that's why I said he reminds me more of Messi than anybody as opposed to Ronaldo even though Ronaldo was his idol he has the same humble modest down to earth demeanor Messi had
I've never seen interviews of him like this before, just the '''funny'' ones, the more I see him you realise he's very mature and takes the game very seriously.
I think he is the only player that I've ever heard anyone saying that " In the end I play football because it's fun and to enjoy every last second of it".... What a legend
What a great mindset. I think everyone can learn from this: "... actually no matter what happens, it's motivation". He has the mindset of a winner. And I think we are getting ready for 15 years of dominance from this guy honestly. He already proved it at Dortmund, but as City striker he will probably score 35 this season.
He is so humble, such humility believing he is still no one and he needs to improve and believes he can improve. He also believes that the right coach will guide him unlike the dude in paris who thinks hes the best player in the world even diaregarding all the managers who used to work with him
He's clearly had training on his interviews from his first year. Guys a beast. My money is on him breaking records in his first Premier league season. He will get so many chances in that City team
I think he’ll break records but maybe not in the first season. Not only will he have to adapt to City’s play style, but City will have to adapt to his - they haven’t played with a recognised striker in a while
Such a professional. Easy to see why he came to city. Years from now he will cherish his time under pep with this legendary squad. Excited for this guys future
Good interview. I think the key to how successful Erling is as a player is his exceptional relationship with his father. That response he gave in which he spoke of how short a footballing career is really showed how carefully he's been listening to his father's advice. He's miles ahead of other footballers of his age!
@@maniac577 where was Ole during those crucial years around 3/4-7/8 years old in haalands life? Lol o/c his father made him what he is, along with genetics etc. Other people like Ole could have played a role, but still.. Its a classic scenario. Parent feels like there was unfinished business, and also has a young son. And on top of that has knowledge and skills to give the boy an insane head start. Less skills the ole maybe, but that would just increase motivation that much more. Its called living vicariously through your children..
Same thing with Mbappe he's also very close with his dad who was also a former footballer and manages Mbappes career you can see from interviews like Haaland Mbappe has a good head on his shoulders
What a wonderful player Halland is! So nice to watch him playing for Manchester City! With the help of Pep and the wonderful team mates will surely make Halland a complete footballer. Like his mentality and wish him to keep going.
Good interview this, seems well grounded and forget he's only 22. The fact the football world has been talking about him for so long only highlights that he could go on to be one of the best strikers in world football. Says the right things, conducts himself well and at City IF they play to his strengths, he could get a sack full every season. Should be good watching him develop.
Great example of a footballer who's confident and works hard and loves the game. Some manchester united players should take notes instead of sulking and not wanting to play for a big club and appreciate how lucky they are to be where they are
The feeling they are talking about when scoring is euphoria and it will be very addictive too elite players with the work ethic dedication and love for the game these two have
As a Villa fan, I hope he does well, and prove everyone who talks shit about him wrong. Finally Premier League can bring young talents like him (when everyone in the world wants him). It would be a real shame if every young international talent gets "scared" of the premier league and would rather play elsewhere. He isn't, and from his answers here, I hope he keeps this mentality regardless of how things turn out! Keep it up Haaland, have fun :)
Jesus this guy has an insatiable thirst to win. I'm not a City fan but I'm glad he's come to the premier league. Hopefully when he wins everything at City then he'll come to Leeds.
It's great to see this interview, one of the worlds best talking to the potential contemporary best, even if it doesn't work out at city he can come to Leeds and be a local hero🤣 MOT
Es un chico con los pies sobre tierra, muy maduro para su edad, algo que la mayoría de futbolistas o deportistas no tienen,!!!!muy bien por este joven ,le espera un futuro brillante!!!👍
I love how there’s so much hate for Haaland from other teams’ supporters. It simply defies logic & reason with some of the outlandish nonsense and bantering that’s being spit out about him. Few takeaways from CS game vs LP: - his movements in the box were damn good even when you bring up timing issues with the team which will improve as they play - he scored 2x and looked deadly doing it. Unfortunately, both goals were chalked off due to Silva shoulder sleeve offsides and the other from a ball, while in flight, stepped outside the goal line before coming back into the 6yrs box were there were plenty of bodies and amid the traffic, Haaland zipped it in. Both situations showed extreme poise in front of goal - pressuring the GK looked good - barreling into the 6yrs box for a ball, off balance shooting on target while simultaneously waving Andy R out of the way and to the ground. Demeanor on the pitch - focused, intense, and showing emotion. And yet, the banter is…he will be a flop. Yeah sure he will. SMH 😂😂😂💙💙
I wouldn't even bother arguing about whether he's gonna flop. He's proven it in Germany, he's proven it in the CL, you'd be silly to think he won't prove it in the Prem - with a team insanely good at creating chances...
He seems very down to earth and a total pro, recognises parts of his game he needs to work on despite an incredible scoring record and all the attributes of an absolutely lethal and complete forward already at only 22. Mentality is spot on, I'm so pleased he's come to the Premier League gonna enjoy watching him bang in the goals, except against Forest if you can have a nightmare that day Haaland that'd be great, remember your dad is a Forest legend so cut us some slack please. Great interview.
No mercy, I'm sure. He might apologize to Forest fans after scoring his hat trick, I think, but he's definitely scoring it first. He is the first player I've watched since Messi where I almost expect at least a brace before the game. You just can't stop him.
Best of Luck to Haaland! I hated football until not long ago (personal reasons) .. then I started watching Haaland and Martin Ødegaard. It brought joy to the game for me again. Now I will have to watch Manchester City, and Arsenal to see how they do. Shearer reminds me of an actor in LOST? seems like a nice guy. Nice interview
This was pretty candid, you can tell it clicked for Shearer as soon as Haaland started talking about how he felt after scoring a goal. He could defo see a part of himself in Haaland.
I remember We were three friends used to play WE and PES on ps1 and I always play with England because of: RW: Owen, speed 99 LW: shearer, same speed CF: Campbell 2nd cf: huskey Pass to the winger, run, center, goal 😂 My cousin plays with brazil : Carlos Ronaldo (speed 99) wingers giovani rivaldo CF Our friend with Nigeria with babangida amokashey wingers and kanou cf All same tactic 😂😂 the scores were like basketball games
I know it seems as if I came here after the opener to say "I told you so", but honestly I'm not. I have had and have zero worries about Haaland in the PL. Pace of the game? He's already one of the fastest people in the PL and never stops, so specifically how is that a problem for him? Physicality? Have you seen him play? He's like an armored vehicle and people tackle him and leave the game on a stretcher themselves. The only thing to watch is the tactical fit at City. If he fits in to what they are doing, 35 goals minimum per season. And they have Kevin passing the ball. I'd hate to be reductive and say that there is 0% chance of failure. There's always a chance of most things. But it's pretty close to 0%.
Addicted to Goal scoring. That’s what a striker should feel. Doesn’t matter if the goal is in training, a game or in the backyard with kids the feeling is the same.
As a Liverpool fan (hopefully that gives me some degree of objectivity), I love Haaland’s attitude. When he is describing “being selfish but not too much”, together with his facial expressions & body language - you can tell he is trying to articulate that perfect “move” or “moment”. He is going to do well, in my opinion (as will Alvarez). “In my opinion” like it’s not a no-brainer 😂 I hope both fail, of course, as a rival fan. But objectively, I expect him to do very well. & after witnessing Liverpool & Fulham earlier today, I think this season is difficult, heart-wrenching season … as always (but thankfully for us, Nunez rescued the team).
City don't just recruit talent, they recruit the right mentality, they have to fit in. Ronaldo, Zlatan, Neymar etc etc just wouldnt be right for them and would affect the buzz at the place. Even the kit man has the right vibe about him. Recruitment is second to none!
