Hello everyone! Welcome!
Here we are! Ernest Gutschik Aviation's 2020: A Year in Review. 'A Year of Exceptional Catches' featuring all my best catches I was able to get from Toronto Pearson Int'l and two airports in the surrounding Toronto area; Hamilton Int'l and London Int'l.
For us aviation enthusiasts here in the Toronto area, the year started out like any other; with a few good catches off the bat. Then the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit and all changed. Quickly, we saw a huge shutdown of passenger flights and many of these passenger airlines' aircraft stored at various airports awaiting their next flight. Cargo on the other hand exploded and cargo flights from airlines were coming every other day- even passenger aircraft converted themselves into a cargo configuration to cope! Repatriation flights emerged from several airlines to repatriate citizens back to their home countries; many of those that would not yet even come here otherwise. To sum it all up the months from March to August were almost exceptional for traffic here in Toronto with something out of the ordinary coming almost every day.
However, 2020 wasn't the best year for some regarding the whole pandemic situation. The aviation industry hit a huge decline and many pilots, air traffic controllers, airline executives and maintenance workers were either furloughed or laid off. Those waiting for jobs/careers in aviation were told to go apply elsewhere since the industry would take years to rebound and get back on its feet, myself included. From where I stand, I extend my deepest support for my fellow friends in the aviation industry and hope that 2021 turns into a rebound year and that things can work their way to getting back on track!
And that's all from me! Happy New Year and all the best for 2021! Thanks for the support and enjoy this cracker video!
Cheers,
Ernest G.
