Top job Danny! It looks like someone tried to strip the body without disassembling it and melted the windows and interior in the process. Nice to see this one get the custom rat rod treatment.
I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only 53year old to remodel these cars I only buy the transport s new and use what I call road kill s as kids leave them out they smooshed ,I find them and remodel them to put on the new transport s ,loads of fun it is...
That was a pleasure to watch, and I appreciate your teaching as you go. I’ve watched several of your videos and it’s been a joy to see what you come up with next.
I had one of these as a child (circa 1975-80), and when I got mine, it came in a 6-pack along with a blue 1957 Thunderbird and a red 1963 Corvette. I don't recall the three other cars in the package--I probably traded those. But I kept the Chevy, Tbird and Vette for decades. Personally, I love how you refinished this. Fabulous job.
I'm not one for ratted out vehicles but I really like this one. It looks great and an awesome way to revive it and show the detail in the casting. Nice job!
ERTL made some of the best diecast cars by far. I have two of these '57 Chevys and the '70 Cadillac. Awesome job on this car and the patina is amazing!
Ertl, rhymes with turtle. I just did a custom dirt track racer with this casting. I had the windows and interior, but no hood. It is a very detailed casting. The very faint Chevrolet across the trunk is hidden by most paint coats, like the original paint. When I repainted it, I could see it under the primer, but not the top coat. YOU did an amazing job on the wear details, very inspiring. I'd advise sticking a flat black block of craft wood in the engine bay so you can't see daylight through the wheel arches. The original plastic piece blocked it out. Cheers.
I have to admit. I was wondering what the hell he was doing, but it all came together very quickly. That is really cool and the rat rod look is really original. Good job mate.
Miraculous custom. Amazing work with Windows & interior. Lovely weathering and the wheels finish it perfectly. I'd like to see you do a '58 Plymouth Fury - Christine - in any stage of construction (or deconstruction!).
I don't know about anyone else. I like it when you do your custom like this. I kinda of like it better than it being new and shiny looking. Very cool job.
Watched a few of your videos but this one is the video that won my subscription to your channel. That car was a mess and you turned it into something unique, impressive workmanship. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to you up coming videos Mike from Texas, Take Memories,Leave Footprints
Ertl! They're most well known for their toy tractors and other farm themed toys. Played with them quite a bit when i was a child. Had no idea that they ever made die cast toy cars
Although it says in the title Ratted Out in the title, I was a little slow to pick up on what you were doing here. Personally I would have restored it to a custom 57 Chevy, nice paint and wheels. Not my personal choice of a restoration but still looks pretty good. Kudos for your creativity!!
You really have done a knockout job of giving the car the beaten up look. Probably your dislikes are from purists who maybe can't see outside the box to often. Love the idea of taking the parts from the less interesting motor and giving this makeover a great twist. Keep up the good work, you have another subscriber who likes what you are doing
I really like it. Minor thing - if you went for a Belair 2 Dr hdtp, the front grille, front/rear V, front fender inserts are gold anodized color. Love seeing the discarded models brought back to life.
Just saw Rob at Matchbox Garage tackle this model. He took a engine from another car ,since he had no bonnet and it looked great with a shiny black paint job. Two great solutions to a flaky painted car. Love those 1957 Chevy's!!!😍😎👍🏻👍🏻
That was superb. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, especially the ones featuring the larger scaled vehicles, and I found this one excellent also. What you achieved here is marvellous.
I dont usually care for the rusty look on die cast cars, but this one looks pretty darn good!! Maybe I dont like em cause I cant do it where I'm happy with the result. You make it look so easy. Only thing, I cant help wondering what it would have looked like with a turquoise base color before the rust! Lol Guess I'll have to send one you can do that way for me!!!! Lol
Looks great man! I'm new to this addicting world of diecast customizing, but already have a couple videos of builds! Keep up the great work. Your attention to detail, and petina paint job are top notch
Well done. I was a bit skeptical, having been a longtime fan of Marty. However, you did a great job & added your own personal touch. Very enjoyable, thank you.
Nice to see how all of the different die cast customizers on YT vary so much in their techniques. I really enjoyed the video and picked up a few tips for my own projects. A couple things I would have done different is to have added some “original” paint over part of the body. I think it would look better not to have the car completely rusted, you really don’t see such examples in real life driving around. I think it would have looked good to have ground some of the trim of of the car, most cars that old and in that bad of shape are missing pieces. Just a couple ideas, but I really like your technique for the rusting affect. Great job.
