Optimizing indoor air quality (IAQ) is worth as many twists and turns as it takes.
.
Most people spend the majority of their time indoors. These enclosed spaces typically have poor-to-mediocre air quality. This is true in tract homes, mansions, hospitals, and offices. Typical solutions, like unfiltered fresh air through windows or central HVAC systems, don't solve the problem.
.
The exterior air around most homes is polluted, full of allergens, and/or isn't a comfortable temperature and humidity level. So opening windows and doors doesn't work well and can actually make air quality worse.
.
Having access to good air quality should be a human right, but the path to fresh air is never straightforward. The Vali way almost always includes a continuous whole house energy recovery ventilation (ERV) system. In this case, we have a Panasonic Intellibalance 100 with a custom 4" pleated HEPA grade filter box to provide an extra degree of purity.
.
Our data collected to date shows amazing air quality (95+ out of 100 on the Awair index) when the doors and windows are closed. During busy open houses the ERV is able to step up the ventilation rates to maintain nearly perfect air quality despite high occupancy. Fascinatingly, the air quality tends to drop when doors and windows are opened.
