"THE DEFINITION OF NEO-SOUL" Neo-Soul is a timeless musical genre that fuses real instrumental, Jazz, contemporary R&B and 1970s-style soul, funk, and rock with some elements of hip-hop. As it's name (new soul) implies, Neo-Soul music is essentially modern-day soul music, with contemporary attitudes and sensibilities. It differs from contemporary R&B in that it's organic and obviously more soulful, and it also tends to have deeper messages and meanings than R&B.
Erykah Badu represents what is missing from today's soulless music industry. She is passionate about her craft and message. She could easily have sold out and compromised her values for the sake of a couple of bucks. Besides, this is REAL music. I would give so much to see her in an intimate live concert. Class is so hard to find nowadays.
The thing i like about Erykah is that she exudes her lyrics! I mean, she's a performer and songstress with the lyrics to boot! ...And Questlove was euphoric in this staging! Both talents are GOD sent!
her body is incredible & i'm not being a typical man, i'm saying this with appreciation & respect. she is an incredible woman inside & out . that voice is filled with soulful beauty
listened to NA PtII up and down while reading Orwell's 1984. these songs are hard wired in my brain to the feelings of affectionate love and distant hope that run through the novel.
