To everyone in the comments who cant speak French and is confused about the song-- it is about missing fathers. The original singer, Stromae, had his father die, and he wasn't' told about it until five years later. Despite it being written by someone whose father had died, it's message caters to anyone without a father, whether the dad died, left, or is just emotionally distant. It talks about how no one teaches people how to be parents, and how the cycle may repeat, as the kids learn from their parents to be distant as well.
this is one of my favourite songs, as a person with a distant father that i rarely speak to anymore and who never raised me. i think it has such a good message, thanks for telling others about it
True,i saw the lyrics the kid did great she made me cry tho. She has a nice voice but she did something wrong,i don't blame her she still did great out there. Gilbert just press the "X" button because she was doing something wrong. I don't blame Gilbert because he didn't do anything wrong. He did it for a, Reason. Now you're asking what, but i don't know how to explain it. She's a good singer ♡ I'm loving her voice,It's so emotional 💞
Since most of you guys probably don't know French, when she was asked what she'd do with the money, she said she'd get a dog and help children that are sick. Such a sweet kid.
@@sophierajhi689 I don't understand him. Her voice can be a child voice but she is eight and she has sung really well. She obviously has to learn more things, but she really gave me goosebumps
Allen Ajith after a 3 months you will be done with it. I've been learning it for about 5 years and it took me almost one year to become fluent since I used to live in Switzerland at age 10 and I still struggle with past, present, future and the infinitive tense. I understand genders and plurals and know how to put the accent on but after 5 years of it and I'm seriously done with the language but I guess it's helpful.
-Is it the frist time that you gonna play a song with a public ? -No, because I make concerts. -So it is okay... You don't stress ? -Yes, a little bit... -Oooook... -What would you do if you won LFAUIT ? -I would buy a dog and help the poor kids... -Oooh, it is cute... - You can start when you want. ... Sing in French "Papaoutai" : "Say to me from where is he coming, finnaly I will know where am I going. Mom say that when we search a lot, we finish always by find. She say that he is never very far, that he usually go work. Dad say "Work is good", better than be badly accompanied, isn't true ? Where is your dad, say me where is your dad. Without talk with he, he know what is going wrong. One hell of a dad, say me where is you hide. It must be the 1000th time that I've count my fingers. Where are you (Où t'es ? = "outai"), dad, where are you (papa, où t'es = papaoutai). Where are you, dad where are you. Where are you, where are you, where are you, where are you... What ? Wether we believe it or not, it will be a day that we will not believe it anymore. A day or an another day we'll be all dad, and a day or an another we'll be erased... Will we be detestable ? Will we be admirable ? Genitors or genius, say to us who gives birth to the irresponsible people ! Eh, say to us who ? Oh, everyone knows how we make babys but no-one knows how we make dads. "Mister who knows everything" will inherited it, is it right ? You have to suck it from our thumb, or what ? Say to us where is it hide. It will be the 1000th time that we have eated our thumbs ! Where are you, dad where are you? Where are you, dad where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you dad ?" *Applause* -I feel that I am going to have some friends... -Ow yeah ! We gonna question the irresponsible who has buzzed. -No, no, it's true... It engaging just myself. So, I congratulate you for make a work with a piano and your voice. I'm divided because I've liked this side throbbing in your voice, because it's the voice of a child and I've think that your voice is not really exceptional... But in same time, sometime, this side acute in your voice is not disagreeable, but I think that is not really ready for it. -Hum... Me, I totally disagree. - You...*Yeeeeeeeeeeah*...so voila. - Me, what I've like it's this little "vibrato" who is really cute... And, it's a song very famous, and you sing it by your way, it was your version... -I join Laurie, I've forgot that you are 8 years old, and I've really enjoyed ! -Thank you. - So, me, I've not forgot that you are 8 years old, and I don't no why we ear this sound in the middle of the song... -Thank you... - And this side throbbing in your voice whose speak Gilbert is a really beautiful power and it's a maturity incredible... -Do we vote ? - Me it's gonna be "No" ! - And we don't care about it because it's three "Yes" from us ! -Gilbert, why does this girl get out with three "Yes" and one "No" ? You're welcome.
it doesn't matter, if a song is really hard to sing and you sing it like shit, are you then excused cause you "picked a hard song"? No. If she couldn't sing it properly, she or her parents should've chosen another song.
*+Lorjan Agalliu* She really didn't. She was completely out of tempo and had many "not clear" moments here and there, not to mention that her piano work was far from "on point" despite it being a very simple piece.
Its difficult to judge the tempo when half of the time we only hear comments from judges, not to mention the "buzz". Granted there are unclear moments here and there, not to mention the piano. I suspect that's because the original text requires a lot of staccato, which doesn't go well with her continuous voice. But I dont think it interfered with her overall interpretation. The point is that this is the perfect song for a child, and she gave it her own valid interpretation, completely different from the original version. This is something that artists get to do later in their carrier. That, she went there is something to behold.
*+Lorjan Agalliu* "The point is that this is the perfect song for a child, and she gave it her own valid interpretation, completely different from the original version. This is something that artists get to do later in their carrier. That, she went there is something to behold. " I know, that's also why I released a tear or two while watching the performance. You can feel how you want about it, but something is clearly clouding your judgement of her singing, it was objectively speaking not so good. I do believe the X was kind of unnecessary, but she shouldn't have gotten through if we judged her just based on her talent (singing & piano playing?) alone.
I saw that some English people didn't understand what's happening, so I translated the beginning and the song for you guys! Its the first time you're playing in public? Ah, no, not the first time, I've done a few concerts. So, for you, you're not stressed at all! A little, still. What will you do with the money if you win? I'll get a little puppy. A little puppy! Will it be big? And I'll Help sick kids... We'll let you get ready! Start whenever! *song* Tell me where he's from Finally, I'll know where I go Mom says when searching well We always end up finding She says he's never far He's often working Mom says "working is good" Much better than being in bad company Right? Where is your papa? Tell me where is your papa? Without even having to talk to him He says what's wrong Ah, damn papa. Tell me where you're hiding? It must have been at least a thousand times I counted my fingers. Where are you, Papa where are you? Where are you, Papa where are you? Where are you, Papa where are you? Where, where are you, where are you, Papa where are you? Where are you, Papa where are you? Where are you, Papa where are you? Where are you, Papa where are you? Where, where are you, where are you, Papa where are you? What, that we believe or not, There will be a day we don't believe anymore One day or another we'll all be Papa And one day or another we'll have disappeared Will we be detestable? Will we be admirable? Parents or genies? Tell me who gives birth to irresponsibles? Ah tells us, that, Everyone knows how to make babies, But no one knows how to make a papa Mr. Knows everything inherited it, that's right. I need to suck my thumb, or what? Tell us where it's hidden, it must've been At least a million times we've eaten our fingers.
I can’t watch this :’( even when Stromae sings it, my heart can’t take it. I love this song, but it hits too close to home. (My father died and the song triggered memories from when I was younger.) All in all, I love the song though.
Same here 😔. Je repense à toute les fois que mon coeur a été brisé à entendre les autres enfants dire papa. Si simple que ça. Pour moi ce mot là était une tombe froide. Une image assez effrayante pour un petit enfant. Edit: i have no clue why i wrote that in french. It must be because of the song's influence. I was saying that my heart broke every time i heard other children say dad. It was enough to make you feel deferent and incomplete. For me dad was a cold tombstone where my mom would cry. Big hug for everyone that relates. The big "what if" of our life. What if we had had a dad...
Alice Hobadam Not currently I think. But her voice might mature beautifully and with some training she can have amazing vocal control. She already had the confidence and stage presence which is much harder to teach and learn I believe. Like the recently lost singer Christina Grimmie, amazing voice with great control and such confidence.
This is one of my favorite songs of all times, It has an elegance about it that all other love songs have strived to equal. But this child has surpassed anyone before her in singing this song. That is simply the most beautiful that song has ever been done. Leave it to a child.
I cannot find one single comment in English that translates or explains why tf this Gilbert guy exed her... can someone explain? I'm learning French right now but don't know enough to understand why.
Just some random person I am learning french for almost 4 years now and I cant even understand these guys talking although I am pretty good in French at school🤦♀️
Periwinkle Sloth he said that she had a good voice but she is still a child so her voice was "sharp" in a way, that if she grew older her voice would change but that little girl was so sweet and her voice was amazing so that Gilbert boy was a big ass
Need a translation!!! What did that old twottersnot Gilbert say? Why did he buzz? I know a little French, but not enough to understand Gilbert's bullshit.
Faleminderit qe te rinjet tan neper gjith boten me sukseset e tyre na bejn krenar qe jemi shqiptar erza nuk e di a kendon ende por i deshiroj gjitha te mirat e botes suksese pa fund fat shendet dhe lumturi
How cute is she?her little legs can`t reach the floor:) I`m taking some French lessons in London but i hate French, this girls voice has been stuck in my head, amazing voice
Damn. The fact that a young artist is singing it is even more powerful. The message is clear and tragic. I have to thank Stromae for creating such a powerful song.
Yo entendí la canción. La canción se llama Papaoutai y es muy triste la canción dice "¿Donde estas Papá?" Ya sabes porque la cara del público y del jurado
