What's up YT? Are you having no start or hard start issues with your S1000RR? Does the bike feel like it's down on power or simply won't accelerate like it once did? Chances are you have a fuel problem and that problem may be related to a failed or failing fuel pump. In today's video we're going to replace the fuel pump and service the non-serviceable fuel filter!

RU-vid needs to sort something out cause you're not getting nearly enough views for the quality of the content you're putting out. I don't even have a S1000RR and I still watch lots of it cause it's so dam good! Keep it up, dude. Also, I'm waiting to hear your thoughts on the Pro2 now that you've ridden with it!

The first screen you were using WAS the correct one. It just needed to be rotated into the same position that the original screen was in. Also, you needed to loosen the hose clamp on the top and rotate the black hose a little bit to get rid of the twist. Then it would be in a perfect "U" shape, from top clamp to lower clamp.
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife 3 года назад
Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated. Btw, I already corrected the hose as I noticed it was a bit twisted as well lol

Great video do you know why overall fuel range on the s1000rr would diminish? I used to get 170 miles on a full tank and now it’s 105!
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife Год назад
What's up AEA. There are many reasons why your fuel mileage dropped including but not limited to; tune or ECU flash, the addition of a performance exhaust system, worn plugs, more aggressive riding style, worn engine components, and faulty fuel components (pressure regulator, pump or injectors, etc). Even low tire pressures or a neglected drive chain can negatively impact mileage. Riding modes is another one. If you're riding around in Race mode on the street, you can expect reduced fuel mileage or increased fuel consumption. When was the last time you had the valves checked and adjusted?
@lazperez979
@lazperez979 Год назад
@@ESBKLife Thanks for the feedback, that makes alot of sense. i have a stage 1 tune...i ride pretty conservatively on the regular barely ever go past 9k rpm. im mostly in road mode because race is too stiff for the streets. the bike has 4400 miles on it so not sure about worn internal components. My tire pressures are lower than recommended by about 8psi. i dont think the valves have ever been checked since the bike is fairly new. i took the tune off and reset computer trip info but am now a little worried because the fuel values have gone down even further 99 miles per tank.
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife Год назад
ECU flashes/tunes tend to gain performance at the expense of fuel mileage. Which is to say they add or in some cases remove fuel for a given RPM. if you removed the tune, then it will take a few miles for your bikes ECU to figure things out. Also, 8psi below recommend is a significant amount. That will increase rolling resistance, which will lower fuel mileage. Great for wheelies though LOL. However, it's been 5 months since we chatted. I assume you either figured it out or your living with it?
@lazperez979
@lazperez979 Год назад
@@ESBKLife yeah your right on that one after I took the tune off fuel consumption readjusted a little but after riding for a full 30 days it never went back up to normal so I just put the tune back on 🤷🏼‍♂️

Still looking for the video of how you got the fuel pump out, i have a 2015 I recently laid down and i went to test it with the gs-911 and it didn’t make a noise, so im wondering if thats 1 of my issues, at the moment my bikes lights come on but, it won’t start.
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife 5 месяцев назад
The fuel pump is located in the bottom of the tank. Drain the tank, remove it from the bike, flip it upside down then unbolt the fuel pump assembly from the tank. Once the fuel pump assembly is out of the tank, it's pretty straightforward to remove the pump from the assembly. I thought I had a video showing that process. I might have posted it to my Patreon page. I'll take a look.

i got a new fuel pump but my bike is still somewhat sputtering at 100+ at full lock ? what is the issue ?
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife Год назад
I wish I could tell you Josh. You need to try to determine if its air, fuel, or spark. Or it might be a bad tune. Your best bet would be to put it on a dyno with a professional tuner who really knows your bike. They can help you determine what's going on.

Love the detailed instructions man! I’ve got a couple of questions. Is this a higher flow pump that’ll require a re-tune? Also, have you decided what to do with the F4?
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife 3 года назад
No the high flow pump won’t require a tune unless you switch to E85. As for the broken F4, I found a really good independent tech that I’m going to take it too in a few weeks.

@ESBKLife 2 года назад
Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the newer S1krr bikes, but virtually everything is controlled by the ecu these days. Therefore you should get yourself Diag tool/error code reader. Something like a GS-911. Again, I’m not familiar with the newer bikes and not sure if there’s a compatible GS-911for your bike. But you need to see what info the ecu is getting and if there are any errors. Otherwise you could just end up wasting $$$ replacing parts. If there are no errors check your fuel map if possible or just reset everything with the tool. My 1199 Ducati sensors would get out of sync and the bike would run like shit. A quick reset in the ECU and all was well again. Your bike is basically new so I would suspect it’s something like out of sync sensors and not a failed part. Having said that, if the bike is still under warranty, don’t fuck with it. Just bring it to the dealer! Messing with it could void the warranty.

You should try putting high octane (like 98) and give few pulls to circulate in the fuel line, reset adaptation is preferred

Hello, I ran my gen2 run really low on fuel by mistake, it ran out and stopped, i managed to get to a garage and fill up, since then, every time I give the bike some beans, it goes into limp mode, if I go steady its fine, only when I gun it, ive been told I've blocked up the fuel filter inside the tank, what are your thoughts on this please

I wasn't aware that teflon/PTFE tape was fuel resistant. I'm purchasing a used fuel pump for my track R6, would you recommend the same procedure before I install it? Thanks!
@ESBKLife
@ESBKLife 3 года назад
Hey A7TSH, it’s not and no I don’t recommend it. It used standard Teflon tape as a temp solution. There are sealants specifically for fuel connections. Permatex offers a few that you can pick up at your local parts store.

@ESBKLife 2 года назад
Hey Domino. My issues are gone. I’m back to 100% power and the bike rips again! Man I wish I could help but, there are a bunch of reasons why the bike could be running like it is. However, if you’ve already checked the fuel system, the other two are air and electrical. This can be a long process particularly if your bike still has its secondary air system and charcoal canister. I suggest getting a GS-911 diag tool and test each system separately.

Seeing this is directly related to the work done for the FP recall, don’t mess with it and bring it back to them. If you touch it, they will say it’s your fault and you’ll be on the hook for the repair.

Hi Derek, I own a Japan mfg, 2020 S1000R and within the first 2000 kms I ran into Fuel Pump problems. It appears fuel pump is not release the pressure once heated up. Anyways so I ordered a new Fuel Pump assembly, using the microfiche, there were 2 part numbers and the one i ordered and was sent has the female coupling different from the one I previously had on my bike. The original one is like the one in your video however the replacement ordered is full plastic with a white snap in lock sorta thing. My Quick disconnect fuel line connector does not fix into it. Have you come across this sort of fuel assembly and if you have any advice on how to address this situation it sure would be helpful. Locally the BMW dealer has not seen the fuel assembly of this kind. Here is link to another video on youtube that shows the assemble for an RR which matches the assembly i received ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jE8eO5_WHOI.html

Hi Amit. Unfortunately, I may not be the best person to ask. I don't have any experience with the latest gen S1000RR...yet lol. However, it sounds like you either order the wrong part or were sent the wrong part. I did a quick search and I only see one fuel pump number for your bike and it fits S1000RR, S1000R & M1000RR from 2018-2023 (16148414945). Maybe you were sent a pump for an XR or another model bike by accident? Can you share the part number you were sent?
