Jacob- please make sure you are calling the insurance company EVERYDAY asking about the adjuster. Call the body shop daily as well. I spent many years in the insurance industry- believe me if you are too nice, they will put you off. I know it sucks to have to be that way. I am praying for you!

Once in Ohio there is no leaving Ohio. In reality it's all Ohio. I'm glad you are physically okay, and glad the person admitted fault and their insurance will cover it. I've been stuck in Columbus since 2012 (of course I love it here or I'd leave)

My job is a claims admin. I see auto claims all day long. Parts are the issue now, back ordered and taking 4-6 weeks longer to get repairs done.

I completely understand the emotional connection to your car. My first car was a 74 Buick station wagon. It was actually my childhood car, that was passed on to me when I was 16. I had it for ten years, and some expletive deleted stole it and wrecked it. My votes for Charleston.

Just watched a 6yearish old video of you wandering around a Christian themed abandoned mini golf course in the rain, one of my favorites, I’m sure it was probably not the “ideal” scenario but was sooo funny and entertaining. you’ve always made the best of where you are and made the mundane interesting and fun to explore. The video a couple days ago of Penny picking you up was so fun and heartwarming and I applaud you for adapting, having fun and being generally a rad awesome guy. Thank you Jacob for all you do.

Working for Hilton for > 15 years they really take care of thier guests. As an employee we get discounts but the quality of care does not change because we are an employee. There is a level of quality that is brand-wide and every hotel needs to meet certain specs in upkeep and cleanliness. If you ever have a bad experience at a Hilton (Doubletree, Hampton Inn, Home 2, etc) you can report the property and a review ticket will be opened.

Jacob, don't worry about not disclosing your hotel locations. You have to be extra careful, especially with your arch nemesis The Biting Camel lurking around. 😄

You are very blessed as a RU-vidr myself. I know if I was out filming and got into the situation you were I would just be screwed. I don’t have anyone that could come pick me up and I don’t have the finances to pay for any car repairs. So every time I go out on a trip to film for my channel I asked Jesus to take the wheel and be my copilot and boy does he come through :-). I totally understand where you’re at and have been praying for you over the last week.

the way that I see this whole car ohio series is that it is part of the job. the likelihood of it happening is higher because it is your job to drive around and if it happens it happens. Im sorry it happened exactly right now during the wintertime, but hey at least you were safe and sound. The bronzes by the Riverfront were part of a large art installation in which you'd walk from sculpture to sculpture and a series of fountains. It had been there a good 20 years or so, along with a floating replica of Columbus's Santa Maria at that spot in the river itself. The Scioto River underwent some changes and construction from about 2013 - 2017 ish, such as removing the then rotting Santa Maria from the river, and improving the flow of the water. A giant statue of Christopher Columbus, donated by thr city of Genoa, Italy in 1953, was installed in front of City Hall until ( I think) 2019 or 2020. It was removed due to the unpopular reputation Christopher Columbus has now.

I sure hope you get out of there before Groundhog Day. Could be six more weeks of Columbus!

I don't know about cars either. It's white, has four wheels, an engine and a steering wheel. That's what I can tell you. LOL. As someone with anxiety like really bad anxiety. I feel you Jacob. We make mountains out of a mole hill. It's crippling at times.

When I got stranded outside Monument Valley in Utah in a small town the only rental vehicle to get back to my hotel was a U-Haul van.

This is my favorite cover and title ever. It feels like a really epic movie title. My mom and I got in a wreck in Tennessee on the way to North Carolina one time. My mom duct taped the car door back on and kept going. This was back in 2006. It was crazy. We drove to North Carolina and then a week later drove all the way back up Oklahoma in this busted up car.

I just got my car out of a body shop in Columbus after a month, and that was the quickest body shop around. Apparently there is still a parts and supply chain issue and a lot of places are backed up. One body shop told me in December that they wouldn't even have ordered the parts for it until the end of February,. I would just take the rental car and go on about your business until the car is ready.

I understand your anxiety so much ! Same here .. I would have gone insane 🙈 but luckily we all find a way out at the end ❤️ I'm so happy that you got a rental car now and are able to leave Ohio😅

Just a suggestion. I connect my phone to the screen/audio via USB. Then you can play your map program on the car’s screen. We travel this way often and it works great. Hopefully, this would work for you.

SO YOU DIDNT GET MY CHRISTMAS STALKING? MAN OH MAN. Wheelers Jacob! But yes being inconspicuous sometimes is very beneficial and adds to safety. The yummy warm cookies at doubletree looked yummy. Comfort in has cold cookies and hot tea and coffee in their lobby. Sometimes I go in there to steal a cooking or two...hehe. good luck with your wheels.

I found out to ask the company about a larger car as well. The policy actually covered a "full size" which in rental lingo is actually a mid size. But anyways the insurance lied to me and ordered a compact (sub compact). It had a transmission problem which i checked was actually an open urgent recall item. When I went to bring that in the counter agent told me the truth. He said lots of companies do that to their customers. You can also go above what is covered and pay only the difference if you happen to need that.

I really hope you are going to get to have a great trip from here on.

Welcome to Cbus! This town has grown on me for many years, always gets better here! Saw you were in Short North, close to Arena District. If you went up further north on High Street takes you to OSU. South would take you to German Village which has tons of charm. Since you were in the convention center you were really close to North Market, great place to eat. Wish I could have hung out with you and show you more of Cbus. Cheers and stay safe on your travels.

Get a Honda CRV! I've had mine for 8 years and it has close to 200,000 miles on it and I've never had an issue aside from a leaking radiator!
