Can we just take a moment and marvel over how smart Danny was? I mean he did everything right. He ran and hid in a maze. He realized that he could follow his footsteps and he backtracked over his footsteps, covered up his imprints in the snow, hid until it was safe, followed his previous footsteps and made it safely to his mother. Damn near brilliant!
@Praetorian8814
@Praetorian8814 3 года назад
Not only smart, but how he was able to not panic and think of this plan while his own father was chasing him down with an Axe! I doubt most of us adults could think clearly during a situation like that. Also, Danny and Wendy used to walk around the maze before winter.

He's even smarter than you think. I don't buy into all these crazy theories on the movie......however there is one that gas definitely raised my eyebrows and that is that Danny purposely leads Jack into the maze to get him lost so that he and his mom can escape. We already know he's bright enough to outsmart him by covering his footsteps. This can all be backed up by the fact that he hops out of the cabinet he's hiding in just in time for Jack to see him and it looks like he WANTS Jack to chase him and once he gets outside he hides behind the snowcat and pops out from behind it so Jack sees him, then heads straight for the maze, in what could be looked at as intentionally trying to get him to follow.

@thylionheart

I think one of the most overlooked aspects of this scene is that we learn at the beginning of the film that Jack has hurt Danny before. So Danny’s actions here-staying silent and rational-aren’t just the actions of a smart kid. They’re the actions of an abused kid who has been terrorized by his father before. Not to this extent, but it has happened, and part of Danny’s actions here are likely a result of a prior-cultivated trauma response.

There was supposed to be a different ending to this movie that showed Danny and Wendy making it down the mountain and meeting with Ullman who doesn't believe their claims. Um you should probably flip the dialogue. Danny understood everything and hes psychic. Tony (Danny as a teenager) is helping him survive. In a weird way Danny *knows* he will survive. But nothing is written in stone and he has to do everything perfectly. No room for panic or mistakes. Also think about it. Psychic vs a maze? It's Wendy whos confused and in denial. In the book she kills Jack's physical form. But the hotel reanimated him. Here as you can see Wendy is 1/2 an imbecile. Throwing away her only weapon or tool. Even if she felt sure Jack was dead-she might need the knife to cut wood for fire or unscrew or cut something on the trip down the mountain.

There is no one in the world, just a failed attempt to pull closer to hope for happiness and a real act of walking away. পৃথিবীতে কেউ কারো নয়, শুধু সুখে থাকার আশায় কাছে টানার ব্যর্থ প্রত্যয় আর দূরে চলে যাওয়ার এক বাস্তব অভিনয়।

Stanley Kubrick forgot to add breath coming out of their mouths when they are outside in the maze which you wouldn't expect a Director like him to miss.

What if the Overlook wasn't evil ? think about it . In this clip the Overlook actually helps Danny& Wendy find each other by 'scaring' them to their meeting place outside the maze entrance! What if the Overllook is like Danny, innocent, a victim of circumstance, it was built , and by some freak of nature it 'Shines', just like Danny was born with the 'Shine'. Evil people are attracted to its power. The Overlook just reflects the evil that's been done there.
@QueenStarNova
@QueenStarNova 2 года назад
The Overlook (or rather the demon that took it over) is evil but it is able to mask its evil, e.g. in the on-season when it's full of vacationers no demonic activity happens there. Only in the winter when it gets 1 or 2 guests and can take a victim in secret.

It's extended string techniques, like hitting the bow of a violin against the bridge or using it in other weird ways to make crackling wood sounds. Penderecki, the composer, was a pioneer of that sort of thing.
