With the Su-27 Flanker coming sooner than the later today I'm covering the Mig-29SMT and the R73, being a a true pure bred dogfight missile with thrust vectoring boosting its ability to hit turning targets even at ranges of 0.5km combined with strong flare resistance.
The R73 stands with the Aim9M as two of the best IR missiles in the game, both having their own type of flare resistance and methods to dodge them.
While the Aim9M is likely better at medium range- short range, the R73 is definitely superior in close range even against aware enemies.
