How have I never seen this video before. I had some amazing success after watching your double leg video, and this is the perfect compliment to it. I'm looking forward to spamming double legs next class just so I can try this out!
Thank you coach, I used this against someone bigger and stronger than me! If they switched their head position to prevent the drag, I would go for a knee slide double leg takedown on the same side.
I hit this today vs a bigger stronger more skilled opponent. Was super sweet. This ones tricky cause it has to be done fast before they transition and make position worse and also with their pressure and squeeze on. Makes the escape very satisfying!!!
awesome, never been taught this before! Could you teach the move (if it is a good move, i don't really know wrestling) from underneath this front headlock position where you shoot both knees forward to get them underneath you, and sit straight up to finish the takedown?
My trainer showed me the same drag but with the head looking in the opposite direction. For example, if he catches me with his right elbow I will look to my right while arm dragging. What do you think of that? Also, is a shuck a good counterattack move against somebody that is trying to arm drag out of a headlock?
Yes the shuck is a good move/counter. Turning your head the other way to escape the front head lock with an armdrag is not right at all. Not to sound harsh but it mechanically will not work.
today i had an issue with that coach the guy who was holding me in a front headlock put his fingers in my skull as a tried to put my ear to his chest so i couldn't turn my head in order to free my head... it is legal to turn your hand and grab the skull with the fingers ? if so what is your b plan about that ? because i got beat in that position in my gym thank you brian
It was definitely Matt Hughes who Shultz Choked Ricardo Almeida. It was actually quite clever move strategicaly: As a wrestler, he lured Almeida (bjj world champion) to a wrestling position with which Almeida was somewhat unfamiliar with. Then proceed to use a wrestling strangle hold with which Almeida (and Joe Rogan) was totally unfamiliar with. That's why it worked so easily. If he had used any other front choke variations, Almeida would've probably recognized the technique, and find a way to resist. Shultz Choke was the path of least resistance.
That was a good video, so much position in that! Again about turning corners! I always have a slight crank so their trapped arm cant be perpendicular to the ground, but does that work on the front headlock if the elbows are turned in?
Thanks coach. I often go for the high crotch or head outside single and get caught in the headlock. I look forward to drilling this. Coach any advice on getting past the arms when going for a shot? Thanks again 🙏
Your the man coach. I really enjoy your videos and I honestly don't think I've watched one that I really didn't like. They're all really well thought out and put together. I forget were are you located coach?
