Hello! Welcome back to our channel! Taking you along on a quick five day trip to Temagami in Northern Ontario, Canada.
We put in at the Haines Creek access point and paddled down to Smoothwater Lake (a really peaceful easy paddle). We made a day trip up to the highest lake in the Temagami Region - Sunny Water Lake. It is an acid rain lake so the water is very very blue and clear, quite the contrast to most lakes in Ontario. It makes you feel like you are in the tropics! The journey to get here was about 2 KM (1.2 miles) of portaging and through a few lakes that are home to an endangered fish species - the Aurora Trout. Fishing is prohibited in these lakes.
The following day we needed to cross Smoothwater Lake .. but the water was far from smooth! We hugged the shore and made our way south to the other side and then North to find a campsite. The following morning we headed out early in hopes to spot some wildlife. Our wishes came true when Caitlin spotted a mother moose and her calf. A really special moment we are so grateful to have witnessed.
Enjoy! xo

Thanks for taking me with you. I've been stuck at home for a number if years thanks to a brain tumor. I long for those small trips I use to take all the time here in Northern California. As I was getting caught up watching RU-vid videos on the political situation & unrest, I came across this video which gave me a seat on your canoe. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and subscribed to your channel. It's easy to take trips like these for granted, so let me be a reminder to those that found these words. We only have about 78 summers in the span of a lifetime to get out of the house and into nature. You never know when something will happen that may take away your ability to take a beautiful exertion like our friends here. How many summers do you have left? It's time to set a date and make it happen, and when you do, become aware of just how special that is and never take it for granted. If you have a situation preventing you from doing that, watching videos like this is the next best thing. It activates your own physiological cues that were recorded in your body from the time(s) you did something like it, so it truely feels like the next best to actually being there. I just rediscovered that for myself. I feel that deep peace that you feel after a great trip, and immense gratitude that these two beautiful people thought to share their wonderful adventures. I thank you! Much love!

Your words touched me deeply and I second every word you wrote, hear, hear! To be given this amazing gift, either to pick up and head into the woods (well prepared), or to have the joy of these beautiful videos to remind and inspire, brings us back to why we are here, and in the blink of an eye, show us the journey continuing. Best wishes for your health and cheers for your strong spirit!

Thank you for these inspiring words, they too touched me deeply and hit close to home as my father had a brain tumour. "gave me a seat on your canoe"... this is exactly what I was hoping viewers would experience, can't thank you enough for your feedback and motivation to keep sharing our adventures. Wishing you strength, good health, and sending you love!

Atomas Victory these videos are made for you, but also for us. We never know which one will be our last trip but we’ll always have these memories in HD. So glad you can take part in our adventures and thanks for the reminder to not take it for granted! All my best wishes.

Happy Two Year Anniversary! Had just watched your amazing wedding video from last year and a real joy to see you continue your celebratory journey on this canoe trip. Seems like nature needs nothing but itself to create the world, and we are honored guests while it reveals its wonders. Our massive bull moose siting was in BWCA in 2002; only 20 feet away as we paddled around a bend ... us: frozen and stunned, him: nonchalantly chewing lunch knee deep on the side of the narrow river. Antlers as big as us!! Thanks for the smiles and recollections. And the loons...eternal.

Hi Caitlin and Cody! Another delightful outdoor adventure video, thank you. Have you guys considered dutch oven cooking in the bush? Obviously lugging a cast iron dutch oven over a canoe carry (as we call a portage in the Adirondacks) is undesirable. Although placing an upside down metal pie pan on top of your fry pan will accomplish the same affect by placing hot coals on top as well and it will increase your culinary options. I personally dislike placing my pan directly on top of the coals, it promotes burning, but I do place it on a trivet slightly above the coals. Just an idea that I thought of to pass along.
@TheTimberLife
@TheTimberLife 3 года назад
Bill Starr thank you! Yes we have a Dutch oven and use it over and under coals quite often at camp but we don’t bring it on our canoe trips because of its obvious weight. Haven’t thought of using that same method with our frying pan... makes sense! thank you for the recommendation!

The river got rough, the canoe dumped them, and it and their gear were swept away. They got to shore but had only what they had on them for the night. Since hearing that story my cargo pants are kind of full of cargo-- enough for an ok night or a trek out (if I don't drown from the weight).
