I lost 50 pounds in 6 weeks fasting 18-6 eating stupid clean and not one episode of Afib since I started the fasting diet. I’m 44 years old and I feel like in my 20s.
During the day I have a normal heartbeat, afib occurs just about every night even with a cpap/ASV. I noticed that eating late at night makes it worse, going to bed hungry usually means a better night sleep for me.
@@EnfleurageOs I went to the ER for an irregular heart beat, didn't have afib at the time, it started a month after. That's a long story. As I said, I got in trouble a month after that but couldn't schedule a sleep test for 2 months. That was too long to wait, thought I might die in the mean time and couldn't fall asleep without gasping for air. So I bought a old cpap, then a better one, the second indicated I have a central sleep apnea episode about one out of three apnea episodes. So I bought a third, the ASV. So I've never been officially diagnosed with afib, but I knew I was getting it at night. I don't have insurance so my doc told me to keep doing what I'm doing. To get proof I get afib, I ordered a heart monitor with 5 electrodes I could wear at night. I was waking up with afib(I can feel it in a big way) but I didn't know if I was having afib for 5 hours a night or 5 minutes a night. It turns out I'm only having afib 5 to 20 minutes a night. The monitor is not expensive, was only $300, you can down load the graph to your computer. I'm glad I bought it, now I can see what's going on whenever I want to.
Are you hyperventilating? While I don't require an ASV machine and was at a steady pressure using CPAP; I have found that when I am not tired and would try to sleep against the higher pressure it could trigger afib. I changed to an APAP, with lower starting pressure since then. I realize that is not the same for you and centrals. I constantly fiddle with the titration and visit my sleep dr to confrim. I hope you are successful with your therapy.
I have paroxysmal afib and over a process of trial and error over several years of eliminating foods, I found that mature cheese is the trigger of afib for me. I could eat a fresh mild cheese and have no issues, leave it in the fridge for a month or 2 and it will trigger afib. Apparently it has something to do with tyramine
Also... Mayo Clinic did a study that showed a correlation between hiatal hernia (common in overweight people) and afib. It would be interesting if those diagnosed with afib could be tested to see if it's caused by a sliding hh (when it slides rhrough diaphragm, it hits the back of the left atrium and can trigger afib). See Dr Gupta's video (he's a cardiologist at university in York, UK).
Your ideas are not terrible but I do know Carbs and sugars will kill you, I have A-fib and am going to the zero carbs diet also know as the Carnivore. Stop all processed food and get away from Carbs and sugars. Thanks
Good luck on your 🥩-journey👍 I have Afib myself and consider to swap anti coagulants with nattokinase and want to change my diet aswell. Can you tell us your experience with it a week in or something?
@@KimWentworth-y8eThe problem is you likely had normal doctor tests (serum). You need the RBC version of each to see what’s in your cells. 98% of your magnesium is in the cell not the blood. You doctors tests the blood which is strictly regulated by your body and because of that, 99.99% of the time your blood levels are normal.
Well, you had me till you talked about plant-based. Plant-based is how I became diabetic. it included whole grains, very little bread, beans for protein lots of veggies. And what in the world is wrong with salt and red meat ? There’s a book called The Salt Fix . Anyway I’m never going back to fat and in pain I’m sticking with low-carb and plenty of red meat, veggies and plenty of salt also fasting overnight
I had terrible bouts of afib, usually during the night and each one seemed to make me weaker until i almost couldn't function anymore I switched to a whole food plant based diet and it eliminated not only my afib but a multitude of other health issues i had It's been two years now and the only time i get afib now is when i over consume alcohol Our shitty diets are the root of almost all our health issues imo
Thats amazing..I just starting getting A-Fib in the summer and started medication last week…I am hoping to eliminate this as well… kinda scared to try plant based diet…worried about protein
There's plenty of protein in a plant based diet. Nuts, beans, seeds and even some greens can provide you with all the protein you need. Besides, you don't need to go 100% in. Small amounts of meat can greatly bolster your protein intake and improve food flavor and texture. I think most people just love their food addictions so much they're afraid to even consider change. Just above all avoid processed foods and cooking oils. Whole foods are the way to go, and that can include a little meat as in the Mediterranean diet. Avoid the white poisons, salt, sugar and flour and the foods that contain them.. That's the tough part for most people I think. The surprising thing for me was that no matter what dietary changes you make, you'll eventually come to like them. It's weird but true. If you're really interested in healing, look into intermittent fasting. Good luck!@@finnster5800
@@Wunderdogg if you can do lite keto it will make the fasting eàsier because the carb make you hungry Found that my a fib has become a lot less frequent with lower carbs. Lost 30 lbs and feel much better.
Great video thank you. I am supposed to have an ablation but decided to try losing weight to see if it helped and give myself 6 months. So far have lost 6kg of the 20kg of my target plus using my treadmill for 1 hour a day. It is definitely working as my afib is not as frequent and the episodes are much less severe. I may still require an ablation but figure it will have a much better chance of being successful if I am healthier.
Wow, great. that is encouraging to me, I am in the same boat. I have been making changes and seeing improvements. Nothing permanent will be done until my improvements peak or plateau out
Thank you, Dr. Morales, for all that you do. I appreciate you very much. I did recently go through your Take Control Over AFib course, and I highly recommend it. The content is excellent and well-presented. I believe that AFib can be reversed through proper nutrition, quality supplements, and lifestyle changes. I saw a post yesterday in a Facebook group that I follow where someone has reversed her AFib through diet and supplements. I believe she said she was in persistent AFib and after going on an organic, whole foods diet, getting on quality supplements, and making lifestyle changes, she has been episode-free for at least two years. None of us developed AFib overnight, and we won’t reverse it overnight. It takes a strong commitment. You have been a great help and you have inspired me to keep going.
i went onto carnivore. one meal a day. supplement 4700mg of potassium ( I get around 1500mg of this from my meal and pink salt). 420mg magnesium, 300mg c0q10, 12000 iu's vitd3 with zinc and boron. 5mg creatine. keeps my afib away! so relaxed at night! i walk one hour a day. 20 min weights 3 or 4 times a week. i feel this is a solid back bone to keep afib under control! the carnivore diet is pretty much ilimation diet! rids anything that could also trigger your problems! i keep to a 6 hour eating window. always drink pure coconut water. remember VIT d3 and Vit k2 will repair your arteries and keep them flexible and healthy.
I know this is weeks old, but if you see this can you answer how long on carnivore it took to notice a difference and if you are still symptom free? Thanks
Really enjoy your informative videos and interview with Dr. V. My para came on from a drastic low carb "keto" diet. Essentionally malnourishing myself and in addition too much hydration that wacked out my electrolytes. I reigned my diet in, incorporating IF 16:8, altered my lifestyle, dropping 151 lbs in the process. I then had an ablation. Was in nsr for one year, until I over-exercised during our hot Texas summer and got dehydrated. Self converted in ten minutes in ER. Then Oct, had another episode from low electrolytes. This time self converted after ER and hospital stay of 12 hrs. I have found my triggers to be: theobromine (Cacao), excess sodium, and electrolytes. I take eliquis (2x), metoprolol (2x), and magnesium glycinate (120x2). I feel so much better now however my goal is to drop another 70lbs. I started over 400lbs and at 6ft 3 it was just too much. I have another abaltion scheduled soon.
Dear Dr, I am in the same boat as you spoke about your patient at about minute 4. I am seeking the name of the medication you used with this patient so I may suggest it to my Dr for consideration. I have made changes and have seen improvements. Thank you.
Can being sick (pneumonia with lung drained) cause afib? This is the first time and occurred in the doctor’s office. I eat well, take supplements, not overweight, don’t drink, walk daily, etc etc.
I switched to a whole-foods, plant-based diet and effectively "cured" my proxastmal afib. I'm off all meds (okayed by cardiologist) EXCEPT blood thinners. I have naturally low bp, no other health issues, no underlying conditions or problems... why do I have to take blood thinners? I hate them and hate restricting my activities (I'm a horse person and have been told I can never ride again becauee of meds). I have ZERO risk factors for stroke so .... why would I have to take them? They have side effects as well!! In your opinion, should I have to take them?
Get a second opinion from another doctor if you don't like the opinion of your usual cardiologist. I've noticed there's a lot of not so great cardiologists out there, speaking from personal experience.
I got off blood thinner because I didn't like them either. I made a deal with doctor for 1 baby aspirin instead. I take 25 mg Metropol 2x a day for my Aviv and its working for me. My BP is normal and echocardiogram and dogs are great doc says.
I Agree with Stress management. It's a Major trigger for me!#UGH. Also love the Ketogenics eating plan. Along with intermittent fasting, of course!😉 It's truly life changing, with stopping so many health issues in it's tracks and restoring Health!! Such a clean, healthy life-style! (So much science to back it up about Why it Works, and Works SO Well!!😎)
Until starting to listen to Dr Afib I had no idea about triggers, for me stress and diet. Quite honestly I felt no hope, then the improvements caught up to me unknowingly and I was very surprised at seeing them. That is encouragement to keep going
What about starting out on Dr. John McDougall's Starch Diet to quickly lose weight (potatoes, corn, rice, beans and NO OILS) then add leafy green vegetables after reaching your goal weight.
I WAS DIAGNOSTED WITH AFIB RECENTLY AND I DONT HAVE AFIB EPISODES, NEVER HAD AN EPISODE ... WHAT IS AN AFIB EPISODE SO I CAN LOOK OUT FOR IT... SO I AM OVER WIEGHT AND LOST 30 LBS AND TEND TO LOOSE ANOTHER 60LBS.. YES I WAS 340 LBS DOWN TO 300 , MY TARGET IS 240 - 250 ... NOW THAT SAID CAN I GET RID OF AFIB JUST BY LOOSING WIEGHT?
I fixed mine with intermittent fasting after my ablation failed. This is due to a process called autophagy replacing damaged cells on a longer fast. I was super fit, but I had a sweet tooth and loved carbs. Too many carbs and sugars spike insulin, which long- term causes a big rise in inflammation
Just yesterday I was diagnosed with new onset afib. Petrified !! I am a healthy person (according to what doctor said ) I think its huge stress I am dealing with and lots of sugar. So scary. They put me on metoprolol.
Metoprolol caused me very vivid bloody nightmares. Every night I "died" in the most horrific violent ways possible. I stopped taking Metoprolol and nightmares are gone🙏🫀🙏
I was on metropol but it made me sweaty, lightheaded and tired. Found a md who let me go off of it and feel so much better. Just eat garlic every day to keep blood thin and water to keep hydrated.
Lol maybe you can help my anxiety filled self out.. what causes afib? I'm always feeling flutters or that my heart is out of rhythm, my 30 day heart monitor didn't detect afib, but I'm always afraid it is afib and it's been missed. I'm 33 years old, healthy, in shape, not over weight etc I've had 2 echograms, plenty of xrays blood work heart related and ekgs. They always look good
Hey my Afib started at 30. Same deal. The docs find no cause. I know that stress IS trigger number 1. And btw, I'm 63 now so if that makes you feel any better I'm still alive and going strong 30 years later.
