Sofia, Stella, and I are in the middle of our big lap of Australia in our Jayco Caravan and we finally made it to the Blue Mountains in NSW.
This place was as beautiful as you can imagine. We camped up in a FREE camp called Cathedrals Reserve, we were a little worried we wouldn't find a spot, it being the long weekend.
However, escaping chaos was on the agenda
In this video we:
-Visit the Blue Mountains
-Find dog-friendly activities around the Blue Mountains
-Incredible night walk in Katoomba
-Five Falls Walk around Blue mountains
-Bump into inconsiderate campers
-Pack up the caravan earlier than expected

My wife and I camped a few times at Cathedral Campsite Reserve. One time, we had a bunch of tourists turn up, walk through our small setup campsite, stand on the side, and take pictures of us. Every time we had been there, the european wasps have been prolific, attacking our beef sausages 😅

Thanks for the comment yes, a group did show up and basically set up over some poor small families tents when they were away for a walk. We were worried about Stella eating the wasps! she was snapping at them. Allbeit its a beautiful spot!

These days with everyone out for a free camp, our option for those weekends is to pay at a park. As you found a site, usually worth the fee for space . Thanks for sharing

That's very true. We usually do this and yes we end up paying a premium. But you're not going to have much dramas. We just need to remember to book well in advance to find a nice park. Thank you so much for watching

Thoes late night noisy campers should have been woken up to the sound of your petrol chainsaw at full revs, it's the second best use of a chainsaw😂

Unfortunately there are awful people in a lot of free camp spots. Usually yahoos who drink too much. Also be careful with used fire places and rake through to coals to make sure there are no things in there that shouldn’t be. We had a fire place someone left bullets in many years ago and our camping neighbours got a hole blown through their tent when the bullets went off after a fire had been lit. So lucky they were not hurt or killed. Maybe next time go down the south coast and places less popular. Kangaroo Vally might have some dog friendly places but you would need to do your research. Going in the off season and winter is helpful too.

Thank you for the comment! That is scary, we never thought that but yes I can see how that could be disastrous. Yes, our fault for heading to such a popular place on a long weekend. Lesson learnt!

We were blown away by the scenery, amazing! Also, it had its fair share of dog friendly activities too. Thank you for the comment :)

Just so your aware no dogs are allowed in the blue mountains national park ‘special area’, NPWS takes it very seriously and there are harsh fines

Thanks Ben. You may not know, but there a several dog-friendly spots around the Blue mountains, in particular Cathedrals reserve camping ground, and Katoomba Falls. Which are outside the national park. We triple-check everything before we visit.

Those air fresheners dangling from the rear view mirror are so annoying to a viewer (illegal there too btw). Cheers 👍🏻🙏🦘
