It was disheartening to listen to their stories. Mobs going to a central university, targeting students from one community, searching for that community girls in a women's hostel. This was complete anarchy, anything could have happened. This is so terrifying to hear, and they had to experience this. I am really glad they made out safely. Ministry of Education, do something, don't go silent now. They are Indian students and they need help. Absorb them into other universities, make alternative arrangements for their studies, help them, don't leave them in the dark. If nothing's done, these kids will lose out valuable time, resources and opportunities. Hearing this felt unreal, I never thought something like this could happen in India, aren't we supposed to be a stable country that doesn't allow this to happen? i was also a student of Manipur University attached College, As i came to Delhi looking for jobs. i need my BA certificate from Manipur University so i ask for my friend who have connection with MU office workers. He told me that i have tried for other friends too. i was about to get the certificate but they cancel it once they knew we are from kuki community. He was about to give but one specific signature was needed so the one who is supposed to give the signature, he doesn't want to give the signature once he knew we are from kuki-zo community. Till now no good jobs because of no BA certificate 🥹

People should understand that the reason why these students escaped the violence and are alive and well is because there are uncountable number of Meiteis like myself who were resisting the mob violence. The fact that the security forces were incompetent in dealing with the situation had given ample amount of time for the mobs to attack. But none of them died. SO, the mob mentality doesn't exactly represent all Meiteis.
These students not wanting to go back is what the govt wants. How else do we explain the university inviting fresh applications instead of taking back the displaced students? The Centre and state have colluded to make this population engineering happen. Hope some years later they go back and reclaim what is rightfully theirs. What happened at Imphal was the aftermath of the savage nature of what Kukis did to meitei civilians on the 3rd of May in Churachandpur the night before Imphal. I have been following Newslaundry for many years as an independent and unbiased medium bold enough to report the truth, but on this particular matter of conflict in Manipur; by the number of videos and one sided approach of interviewing more kuki victims and neglecting Meetei victims, I am very sadly convinced that you are not interested in giving the real picture. I am boldly saying this because you need to investigate the genesis and the timeline of events that took place before and after the 3rd May, 2023. You need to investigate the fact that all the violence that took place in Imphal against the kukis happened much later after what happened in Churachandpur (a kuki dominated district) to the Meeteis. I am not condoning the violence but it was a retaliation against the precedent assauts of the Kukis to the Meeteis, burning thousands of houses, burning many Meeteis alive, raping Meetei woman (yes there are FIRs of rape of Meetei women on the 3rd, May even before the naked parading of kuki women in retalition of the rape), murdering children. There are hundreds of videos online in social media that proves these. You also need to bring out their stories. Local media has reported thousands of such crimes against the Meeteis that you need to investigate and verify. Why aren't you also bringing out the facts that many kukis were also saved by the Meeteis. There are videos corroborating this. I am not saying what the Meeteis did was right but what the kukis started wasn't also right; that you have intentionally neglected. It is a criminal negligence.
Meiteis being raped was a false allegations which was later proven to be wrong... So meiteis were killing and butchering in the name of false news. It is found that kuki zo is a very new term in manipur. They were also the smallest race of kuki tribe until may 2023.
