I’ve sampled a half-dozen other van life ladies, and none of them compares to your unscripted spontaneity, authenticity, and humility. You literally seem to be making it up as you go along and not trying to prove anything. It all seems quite natural. Don’t change & keep going. Love it! There is an accessory for a gas stove called Omnia Oven. You put it on the stove and have a substitute for an oven - would definitely work for spring rolls.

We live in a two bed house, and both nurses, we met in covid land, and now exhausted of giving our lives to the NHS. Hi Ame Book yourself 5 days in a place you love Airbnb or similar once every three or four months. Unwind have a break from van life, fix bits on the van, plan new places to go. Then get back on the road. Buy or Blag Gigi a ruffwear cooler vest they are great. Keep heat of sun off and cool by adding water.

Not sure events set you “in motion” but it reminds me of Neil Peart, the drummer for rock band Rush, who passed away few years back…. He lost his daughter then 10 months later lost his wife. The only thing that kept him alive was “being in motion” on his motorcycle. He actually traveled 40,000 miles in a year and eventually felt alive again. He wrote the book “ghost rider-travels on the healing road”. I hope you can read it

Something for anyone living in a van. Get some fans out of a old computer cases, the ones on the rear of the case. Cut some holes in the bottom of the van and mount them. Then use a solar panel on the roof to power them and put flaps over the fans on the inside of the van. You can make a couple that bring air in and couple that move air out. Always use the larger 5" fans to move air out. It really helps cool a van on hot days when you are not traveling much.

I think that was the first times I seen true emotion on one of these. I've been doing research on this. Thinking of selling my house and building my own set up. I was in the Army 15 years and US State department 8 years. I have 11 years of my life in the middle east. Now it was all a waste. Been lost for some time. I think this year I am going to do it. I travel the world and rent cars/stay in hotels.... but I would really want to change all that and travel in a van just like you. As a developer I can work from anywhere (w/wifi) and all I need is to muster courage to do what you do. Complete admiration

Ame, if you want a suggestion of where to explore in Northern France I have good memories of a road tour I did in Brittany and Normandy. I loved the cities of Rennes, Nantes and Angers and there were towns I found along the way that felt idyllic. That area also benefits from being close to loads of great coastal harbours like Brest and St. Malo, and the medieval town of Vannes. I found those places less visited, genuine and unspoiled by tourism. But that was about four decades ago! Good luck on your adventures.

Hey Ame, I hope you are still having a great experience in your van, I think you're so brave, all you ladies in fact that choose this way to live however I love the fact that you go out and experience the world. It's a shame you didn't make it to my neck of the woods in Margate on the Kent Coast, the weather as you know has been beautiful and I could have taken you for an ice cream on the beach before you head off to France. I've not watched all the way through yet so at this point I'm guessing you're going from Dover? Either that or the Eurostar, either way you were only 40 minutes from the glory and wonder that is Margate 😂😂 I hope the rest of your trip goes exactly the way you want it to and most of all please keep safe.

I know what you are saying, in the late 70s I was all over Germany and bits of Europe and when I finally came back it was horrible. People used to say "Oh it must be a relief after travelling alone so long " but it wasn't, it was the opposite. I started to put on weight from eating for no reason and I missed the excitement of going to new cities and not having a planned destination. I think you would understand, you remind me a lot of me at your age. I think we all have a nomadic streak but not all of us try to revert to a nomadic lifestyle. You and I obviously love it and I am sure many people would if they gave it a chance. You are so lucky being able to take Gigi with you, I think an animal makes you feel at home wherever you are. If you wanted Northern Germany is nice with Flensburg and Kiel, I would imagine it would be cooler there too. Its very flat though, and you have to plan with Gigi's comfort in mind. You are so lucky, what a feeling being able to go anywhere on a whim! I used to live in a tiny cottage 2.5 miles from the nearest village with the next nearest neighbours being about the same, that's how long as the crow flies, but to physically get there was much more as you had to walk to the nearest bridge first. I never watched horror films when I was there as its just setting yourself up for feeling really uneasy and you can do without it when you have to walk that distance, in the pitch dark morning and night! The local herons nearly stopped my heart the first couple of times!

Sister...I am right there with you on that whole Phone Overheating crap. I had to start prepping multiple coolers around the bus to toss the phone in to every time the alarm goes off just so I can keep filming for an episode. And it's not like it's any hotter here than any other summer. Something in the phone has changed. We've always had 110+ F temps in the summer and the phone never had an issue before. This year I can't go outside for 10 minutes before the stupid overheating alarm starts going off. There's something going on that has nothing to do with the actual temps and more to do with that last phone update right before summer started.

No matter what the subject is, it’s going to get more views when paired with female beauty. Guys will watch her cleaning the kitchen floor.

Le touquet is the nearest and greatest city to the sea in the north of the France (although the sea does not look very good compared to la Méditérannée) I live in Normandie in Caen and last year I did a road trip in France west coast. I suggest you to go Normandie (CAEN my sweat home) then go to le Mont Saint Michel then go to Bretagne (RENNES and SAINT MALO are my favorite cities) then go to le Pays de la Loire (Many beautiful castle and wine haha) then go to Loire Atlantique (NANTES, nice city full of life) then Charente Maritime (LA ROCHELLE best place to have a fine ice cream at Ernest le glacier) then go to Charente (COGNAC) and Dordogne (BERGERAC, best view of nature and lakes in this part of France) then go to gironde (BORDEAUX, nice city to live and some small and cute streets) then go to bassin d’arcachon(ARCACHON, where you can park your van in frond of the sea and watch the sunset). Hence you love south France I suggest you go to (BIARRITZ and BAYONNE in the west coast aaaaaand that’s it for the west (for all I know hehe) I also know some beautiful cities in the east of France but you will find more beaches in the west than east.
