GOOOOOOOD MORNING MODERN STEADERS!!!! I’m home recovering from yesterday’s lower back surgery. (Laminectomy) decompression of the nerves. Thank you all for your prayers and support. My pain is being managed by oral medication and my husband is right here taking great care of me. Thank you again. Now back to the video. ♥️♥️♥️
That rocket stove is pretty nifty. FYI ... next time, coat the outside of your pot with liquid dish soap and the soot from the fire will simply wash off without much if any scrubbing. Used to do that when I was a kid going camping with my dad ...
Yep! True and invaluable to avoid so much elbow grease; learned about this about 60 yrs. ago when in scouting! And not much liquid soap is needed at all. : )
You and Your family are a big big blessing to me. Your channel is so much more enjoyable than a movie. I know you have to take a break from filming, but i just wish they went longer! LOl Also thanks for filming little things like the rocket stove, showing us that you can eat way out in the snow covered cold wilderness! You are so blessed, cause you know where your blessings come from and you give thanks! I love y'all!
I wish you would show us a simple map of where you are at the property. You're showing us trails but it''s difficult to know where you are... It's so exciting to follow your new adventure and to see how you will make progress at this property.
So as a medic and ex soldier I would recommend that each person have their own pack. A small pack with a water container made of metal single wall that could boil water. A good knife and maybe a small foldable saw. Their own first aid kit with maybe a few bandages along with a tourniquet. Some paracord and a couple of high protein bars for just in case. Last thing is a ponch which can double as a shelter half. Each bag shouldn’t weigh much even with water in their container. Your edc bag should have the same with maybe your granfors bruk axe and fire starting material x 4 different types. Like a Magnesium Rod along with some waterproof matches and of course a lighter or some tinder. That way if you get separated each person can still have their own survival bag. Or if you get stranded you have triple the amount of items.
Good Morning! Rebecca from Oregon here😀 I have to say Hope looks like she’s getting quite the round belly! If I was a betting person I’d bet she has 2 maybe 3 Babies in there! Loving the new Homestead and discovering the new property with you guys!
Good morning guys. Just wanted to share with you a little tip I learned in Boy Scouts. If you take a cake of soap and rub it on the bottom of your pot it’s supposed to help keep it from burning your pot.🧼🥘
@@LumnahAcres Hello Al, What brand stove is that? I definitely need a portable size so I'm covered when I'm out of the truck and off on an adventure like yours. Wishing all of you the very best and many blessings, Keith
That drag and the tracks make a great roadway. The compacted part has little risers that can give a tired vehicle some traction and the drag smooths the middle. Perfect combo
Gina, if you put dish soap on the bottom of the pot and up the sides a bit at home let the dry on then when you’re home again the black comes right off, old girls scout trick hope that helps.
I will start with nice snowfall Al and Gina. The areas you shared today were so beautiful to see. It does look like you may need to always carry a chainsaw, especially after a snowfall Al. I'm glad the side by side had the winter package so Olivia and Gina didn't get hit with some of those limbs.
Hey from us folks down in Waxhaw, North Carolina. You're a blessing to us too. Just watching you wading through the snow makes us thankful that we don't get that stuff down here. No snow shovels or anything else that starts with the word "snow". However, we love watching you all deal with it and what you're going to be doing with your new farmland. At my age, you better get to it or I'll not be around to see you over their living on your new homestead. Yours is a well-rounded channel - nice to see someone putting Christ back in their daily life, by giving HIM the glory. p.r.morehouse
I was thinking--even when the snow is gone , the tracks would STILL be good for exploring instead of putting the wheels back on while trails are being established / groomed / marked / mapped.
It is amazing how the frost was on the inside of your mule. Looks Cccccold!!! 🥶Thanks for taking us onto the trails with you at the off grid property. That is Cool the wildlife tracks and the beauty of the snow, the little streams and all. That little thingamabob you used to cook your stew with was pretty slick. That would be great to have as survival tool in case you needed it. The sunset was beautiful Al. Thank you all and God bless!! 💜
All the scenery at the off grid and your homestead is so beautiful covered in snow. Just a thought: have you considered teaching Olivia how to drive the side by side. All the new and old trails ya'll are exploring could have dangerous areas under the snow. It might be necessary for her to drive y'all out at least to the facility cabin some day. I had already assumed that you have some sort of an emergency medical bag there. Take Care
Good idea - not only would it be wise for Olivia to have the knowledge, but I'm sure she'd have some fun as well! I remember when I was a kid, my Dad used to let me steer the car on empty roads - some of the best time I remember was leaning over and steering the car while Dad kept a watchful eye to keep us safe. It was fun, exhilarating and educational!
@@samvalentine3206, My Dad took me out on a gravel one lane road. Had me get in the driver’s seat. Just before I shifted into drive, he said,” keep it between the ditches.”
This is for your chickens. I read in the standard for chickens that if you give the chickens a warm breakfast in the morning and a warm dinner they will produce more eggs. I had been getting an average of 4 eggs and now we are are getting an average of 5 eggs every day with 14 chickens. All but 5 are laying at the moment (an Easter egger, a legbar, and 3 Americanas) we live in Marysville, Washington.
Every time you drive down your off grid road and round a corner, I expect to see a moose or deer standing on the road or running across it. Beautiful place you have.
Do you think pine trees were specially designed to look beautiful in the snow? Here in the UK we've had rain, rain & more rain. Some areas have flooded (due to Storm Christophe). But today the Sun is shining.:)
Good morning! This is quite an experience for someone born in Florida and raised in North Carolina. I am such a softie having always lived in a warm climate. Very interesting.
Live in South East Queensland ,Australia. Maybe 4 hours to snow, if it snows in the higher country during winter. Prefer where we are now, though did live in a far colder place.
Whenever we visit Lumnah 500, we always see evidence of the game that lives there. Have you been seeing any of these critters? There were some pictures on the game cameras (I believe) but there haven’t been any sightings recorded in the vids that I recall. I was wondering if you’ve seen animals at some time when you weren’t recording. Anyway, love the adventures you’re having with family. Thanks for including us. 😎👍🦌 🐻
Goooooooood mooooooorning Lumnah family from not very snowy Wyoming I am so proud of you all you’ve worked so hard now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. God BLESS🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻🇺🇸🇺🇸. I can’t wait until spring it will be so beautiful and green now
It would be nice to have some drone views of how the trails connect. There is really no way we can have any idea what you say connects when we can't really see it...you wouldn't have to show all of your property for safety's sake but just how the trails connect before spring foliage comes on.
Here is another suggestion. Get a small wood saw that you can carry in the backpack. If you have some room in the Mule. It might be nice to keep them there.
Great giggles coming from the mule. And the sound of the water is so beautiful! Please tell me you have a weapon with you when you’re exploring. And your rocket stove! Great ASMR! I have so much fun watching you all! You’re all such troupers! Both your properties are lovely!
Do you have an arial view of your property. It is so beautiful. I do look forward to your videos. Love you are so family oriented. Grateful you share your spiritual side. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Those two small ponds are close enough together I think that you could probably dig out a bunch of the space between them and make a nice small lake/large pond. That would be far more exciting to have than those two tiny ponds. Plus you'd have loads and loads of fill soil for other projects!
Morning my northern neighbors. I think you got all of Colorado’s snow and I’m envious. While you were grooming the homestead trails, you passed the beehives. Wondering how they are wintering. And what ! No Hope pictures? Your videos are part of my wake up Me time. Coffee with the Lumnah gang, how perfect a start for my day.
I just love all the little brooks/streams all throughout the property! When the snow melts and you start making little bridges...great trail adventures to come!
Al; could you use your drone to over fly the property and show us the layouts of the trails from the sky? It looks like you found a great piece of land to explore and live on.
⚠️ I just need to insert a warning. Seeing you drive on your own property like that, reminds me of an accident a friend had some years ago. He too, was having logging done and met head-on with an outbound, fully loaded logging truck on a blind curve almost identical to your roads. He barely survived, but told me afterwords, he thought he was “in the safest place in the world” - That mentality nearly killed him...
@@tonygrimes13 I think Man Of Fire was offering a pre-emptive warning. If he waited to tell them, it may be too late. They obviously have “strangers” (the loggers) on their property driving around. They both need to be aware, the Mule makes too much noise to hear and they have limited view. My best friend was killed on his own property by a trespasser four wheeling in a pickup truck that hit his quad head on.
I agree it's a pretty area , but close to the pond ,prime mosquito area unless it's stocked with fish. Would be ideal for the future greenhouses , close to spring fed pond , open clear area plenty of sun for solar powered water pump for gardening
