Pharmacist review of escitalopram (Lexapro), detailing its uses, side effects, and 7 key precautions that you should be aware of if you are prescribed Escitalopram #pharmacist #escitalopram
Interestingly, starting on Lexapro reminds me of my experience with psilocybin, specifically the “come up” phase of the trip, when the drug’s effects began. They both affect serotonin, so this makes sense. It feels like a knot in your upper stomach or chest, and a general muscular weakness. It’s close to nausea, but not the same. It’s a happy nausea, like the kind you get on a roller coaster.
Interesting video. I have just random panic attacks without anxiety/depression and was diagnosed with general anxiety and put on this. Guess what? Was terrible and it didn't work so kinda coincidental that panic disorder is an off label use.
Sexual side-effects with SSRIs are a lot more prevalent than is generally acknowledged. It's gotta be well over 50%. I think drug companies don't really want to acknowledge it or talk about it, and doctors definitely seem to minimize it. Otherwise, this is a great video. Thank you.
I experienced almost instant sexual side effects, and it’s much more difficult to orgasm. I’m a man, so this is very much a con, but I’m in a supportive relationship and my partner has other ideas of how we can maintain a healthy sex life. I’m only just starting on it, though, and I haven’t been exercising. I’m hoping this side effect is lessened.
@@matthewb.7172 take magnesium instead quit sugar change your diet come off it avoid foods with plastic don't use a non stick pan to cook this chemicals can damage sex drive aslo studies prove this take some natural libido boosters such as eggs steak and damania and zinc and pomegranate
I am experiencing the side effect everyone of them but I took a Tylenol this morning and I’m t is manageable.. so desired to sleep and the stomach 😢and headache but I have only taken for a little over a week I hope to become tolerant ❤
Smh, I got the highest dosage. How do I get to work if I need to see how the meds will affect me before driving. I told the doc to just give me Medical marijuana. Smh
I took escitalopram last Saturday afternoon & had extreme panic attack on Sunday afternoon & rushed to the hospital. I thought I had a heart attack. I was so traumatized that I stopped taking it.
There is no such thing as "extreme" panic attack. Panic attack is just panic attack. You shouldn't rush to the hospital. You should just chill lol. I know it's hard because I experienced them a lot but you should understand that they are not dangerous...If it's SO hard to you to deal with you can ask your doctor for low doses benzodiazepines and use them as needed (for panic attacks) during first few days/2 weeks while waiting for SSRI to work.
@@Jo-eh7ux Hi. Yes I feel better now & I continue taking it. I went back to my pscyh & told me not to worry about the side effects I felt. The side effects subsides almost 2 weeks after taking it on my experience.
I got prescribed this medicine 5mg but I’m so scared to have side effects today was my first time taking it. How long does it take for the side effects to kick in?
Wonderful video Can this medication help insomnia? Or is there a antidepressant that is safe for long term treatment of insomnia? I suffer from anxiety as well God Bless you
Escitalopram is not a typical go to medication to help with insomnia. For depression with insomnia, some of the sedating anti-depressants like Trazodone may be preferred. Discuss with your doc to see what s/he thinks. All the best.
The Seratonin in syndrome is the reason I haven’t started the medicine yet. Too nervous... I also take oxycodone daily and I am scared of how they’ll interact.
I started this medication for a month and stop taking it because I felt ok then when my anxiety came back I took it for 2 weeks one day I took it my body got hot and started sweating feeling like I'm pass out so now I'm afraid to take this medication
People is supposed to take it for longer (min 6 months) for the chemicals to build up in your body, just feeling better shouldn’t make you stop so probably that’s why you experienced some of those unexpected symptoms. Hope you’re well now :)
You felt okay, because you were taking the medication. But your body got used to it and abruptly going off the medication has very adverse side effects...

Dont be its a life saver i cant believe how happy my life is now . I been on the medication for one year and half and after just one month of using it i start to feel the beauty of life again
I have just started it. I have been on/off antidepressants for generalized anxiety disorder and clinical depression. Only on day 5 but it's a smooth ride. It's had less side affects for me than prozac, effexor which was like he'll for me I came straight off it after three days. Just don't take effexor or snri'' take ssri's but obviously consult your gp and make sure you only take any of them because your losing your mind or suicidal if your not these things get to the gym or find a purpose that will lift you out of your situation and definitely definitely don't drink alcohol I did that for years and nearly got sectioned under the mental health act. Think of the film gremlins there is certain rules to abide by. If you don't stick to the rules you will become a gremlin.
@@peejaycuevas2548 i have some friends which loved escitalipram I can’t tell what is bad for me it will be for you it wasn’t medicine for me so I changed for trazadone and lamotrygine and is not bad
Everyone in these comments saying “don’t be” “take it” so what’s the plan guys? You going to take this Band-Aid solution for the rest of your lives and ignore the core problems? Your stuck on that sh now and thats sad. You’re just prolonging the inevitable. And Doctors are more than happy to feed you pills 💊 but what about your local drug dealer? He won’t piss in your pocket at least.
weird. many said about ED, but for me i just dont know why, it make me orgasm much much later and such that my wife enjoy. And this make me feel good and great. Hope u all have the same experience, 1st week was horrible, headache and tingling on my face, and that is ll i experinece,
2:50 First you say this video isn’t medical advice, but then you tell the audience to “keep taking escitalipram even if you’re feeling well.” How is that not medical advice? You should have said, “Even if you’re feeling well, consult with your doctor before stopping the medication.”
