I have this exact knife with the extended scales from the knife connection. They made a huge difference

Great review, I have 5 different ESEEs counting the v35vn ESEE 3 I just picked up and it's a great EDC for me.. I agree with everything you mentioned... Especially field dressing as mentioned👍

I appreciate the honest review. Yes, ESEE knives and their sheaths are excellent (although I like stainless more than 1095 too). Obviously, it isn't a scandi type of knife.

Afternoon buying both the ESEE 3 and 4 in S35VN I realized the handles are on the small size, Especially with XL-XL Sized hands. I understand now why TKC offers extended Scales now. Thanks for video

I don’t quite get the unpopularity of 1095 steel for a fixed blade. Sure I love s35 for my folders but the main issue with most people is the rust issue. For that reason I suggest people reconsider. The chances of you picking up your esee in 1095 and it rusting to pieces nonexistent. Even if you strip the coating off. I’ve seen people leaving tree sap on them and using them for food prep without cleaning them and any surface rust can be rubbed off. From an aesthetic perspective it matters but it’s only stains non of the rust properties really affect use of the knife. As for the edge retention it doesn’t keep up with s35 but it’s way tougher which is ideal for a fixed blade. Also can be sharpened or regroups way easier. If your carrying it for an edc fixed blade. S35 is a good choice. If it’s a camp or woods knife I don’t really see it being an opinion as to which is better. It’s gotta be the 1095

My steels all rust ASAP. I got rust on a magnacut because it had humidity in the leather. I got rust spots on an esee 440 just from my shirt hanging over it as I worked all day. I'm uncomfortable about there being any rust, even though it will take 100 years of that surface rust to damage the blade.

Just purchased one. My thoughts exactly, great looking sexy knife. it's more of an EDC, Canoe, hunting trip role. Nice because it's fairly lightweight as well, with greath steel. Not so much a hardcorpse wood chopping brute, but i pack the X7 for that anyway.

Excellent video. I prefer stainless steel for my outdoors blades. As soon as ESEE came out with the ESEE 3 and ESEE 4 in S35VN with G10 contoured scales I immediately thought they would be excellent game processing knives.

My esee 3 in s35vn doesn’t hold an edge at all. My 3V knives hold their edge for a lot longer then this knife. Any one having this problem. It goes dull very quickly. A few cuts in anything and it starts to dull

You suck at sharpening? Sounds like you're getting a burr that cuts and bends over after a few cuts. Learn to strop like a boss.

@@bobjohnson1633 all my other knives hold their edge very good. I’m not new to knife sharpening. I have used 3V and cpm Magna cut and I can make them razor sharp without any problems. Shit my 1095 esee holds its edge longer then my esee s35vn so I’m say you are way wrong. It’s not because I don’t strop it. Sorry you don’t get to play knife wizard today

Why? Oh that's why, you don't f'king hunt. Sad

Personally I don't understand the concept of short and wide blades for wood. They do nothing better than more narrow blades and they suck at most turning cuts.

That's because you it's great for game, not that any of you limp dicks hunt.

THE S35VN STEEL IS LEFT TOO SOFT (~57 HRC), FOR A HUNTER: It WOULD BE MUCH BETTER 3-4 POINTS HIGHER… S35VN IS TOUGH ENOUGH AT THAT HARDNESS TO DO WOOD, BUT THE GEOMETRY IS WALL WRONG FOR BUSHCRAFT…
@bobjohnson1633
@bobjohnson1633 Год назад
Esee s35vn is literally 60 HRC.
@clintwestwood3539

@@bobjohnson163358/60. I guess they allow 56.5/57 pass the QC, like most companies do. Especially considering their 1095 is around 55hrc tested and consistent.
