Are you looking for a Super Duper Tacticool-per…Urban Survival Knife? Well the Esee 5 might just be what you’re looking for….or maybe it isn’t…let’s find out.
They are cool blades. Mine was configured like that for years and tossed into various kits. Just recently I got the contoured scales, stripped down the sheath to as light as possible and actually started using it. Handle scales made a huge difference for me...
@@xPumaFangx you said you only need a small pocket knife a phone a wallet and maybe a gun in urban survival environment. You can use the small pocket knife because it will break, a phone will break to so there is only the wallet left. For what you need the wallet and the phone? If its for their normal uses then its not a survival environment…
@@derultnerlp9319 OK you really are that dense. These are objects that I carry every day to survive urban life. And you want to pretend you have an authority on the topic. But ok let's play your game...... I walk into the nearest store and ask for help. That will be my answer.
Cool set up. Thanks for sharing. Can you give more info on the Ferro rod? And I haven't looked thru your videos list yet but what do you carry in the tin? Thanks.
Yeah it’s the Exotac Nanostriker XL. I liked it because is self contained and water tight. Plus you can swap out the fero rod at any time. The tins are very subjective. Everyone’s going to be a little different. My tins are based on the use. Since this is in my “Urban Get Home Kit” I have mostly first aid stuff in it. Bandaids, disinfectant, needle and thread, etc. I also have a couple wetfire tinder just in case.
Overbuilt tank. Designed for fighter pilots which there are very few of. And even fewer trapped in a downed plane. But if I could only take one knife. I'd grab the one I know I couldn't break.
@diogenesstudent5585 absolutely but don't forget that the term survival knife presupposes that the knife is all you have, or at least one of very few things you have left.
I too live in Southern California. Was a knife dealer. Why don't I have this unit in the car? Because I am older and made a choice (no longer made) long before the Esee 5 came out. Only for that reason. A thing to consider when buying a knife (or almost anything) is as follows. If you are going to rely upon a unit and keep your life simple, don't buy a product unless it is 10% better. So, yes, the 5 is more than 10% better than the 4 for urban survival, for example.
I love my Esee 5 but it is so thick that I really can't find a good use for it. I ended up leaving it in my vehicle and it would probably best used to smash a window if needed.
Definitely not for combat. Stabs poorly, balance is off, not slicey at all, I'd take a kitchen knife over it any day for combat. Unless you're fighting cyborgs. Had two Esee 5s. On one hand, I loved them because you really feel like they're unbreakable. But sold them both after a couple years of use. The grind sucks for bushcraft, and awkward for small camp tasks. It was just good for batoning, never had a better knife for that actually. I agree with urban survival, not for combat but because it's a sharp prybar.
@@alexanderpeattie3910 It's solid, but be careful of Survive Knives dude, it's a risk, and they do screw people over. I took a risk and it paid off but be weary.
Looks identical to my onterio rat 5. That will most likely never be made again since the company is no longer. 😥 This looks like a good knife as well. ✝️🇺🇸✝️
Over all this is very good knife without a doubt, and it is one level higher than the bk2! But it isn't seam to me being such a thick blade by the way!! I think It isn't more than 6mm, has thay claim to be 6.35mm (1/4) This knife would be ideal if would be 3 cm longer and spine 7 mm thick, and that would deserve to call it survival, fighting and outdoor knife, ore I would say a 'doomsday knife'!
Love mine. So heavy duty; Here in Florida as long as you’re not a convicted felon, ANYONE can carry ANY knife or firearm concealed. No permits needed. Just have to be 18…seems to be working ok; just the normal amount of shootings and stabbings. Every day.
Now this is an interesting take on the ESEE5. Yeah, for an urban environment survival situation, it sounds more doable. [It is dreadful in the outdoors! Too short, lousy chopper, can only baton up to about 4" or so, too heavy for that length, too short/stout for a Big knife, no 90deg spine.] It will do well for prying, breaking stuff open (like crates, windows, etc) and is generally stout enough for the rough stuff. Yeah, I can see that. But, when you start talking about the outdoors, leave the 5 at home, and take something more appropriate, as out there you'll probably need more than one cutting tool! [Saw, large knife, belt knife, and multi-tool knife).
Comparatively ESEEs knives are not all that expensive. You can find 5s for under $180 if you know where to look. Also, I’ve had & used a lot of knives in my day & have broken or damaged a few from many companies & can honestly say out of all the companies out there ESEE have been the best in every regard & way when it comes to a hard use bushcraft, survival, & or tactical knife. Additionally, something to consider when it comes to the cost of an ESEE they have a life time warranty; if you break it just send it in to them & they will replace it. Also, Jeff & Mike are amazing guys & very active with in the community. Btw if you think an ESEE is expensive don’t look at the cost of a Busse, Al Mar, Benchmade or pretty much any top tier cooking knives.
No one is carrying this knife into combat. It is way too heavy. ESEE marketed this knife as useful for "downed pilots". I don't believe it was ever adopted or issued.
My Winkler, HALF FACE BLADES , and TOOR knives absolutely blow that away. That is a cheap knife, and a no good sheath. Survival is not an accident get a good knife your survival might depend on it.
dont wanna be a downer, you seem to be a nice person. i see it like dave canterbury: im a fan of honest reviews from skilled persons that actually use and used the reviewed product, at best for a longer time. as we all know, esee uses a terrible coating. from this we can see, you actually dont used the esee 5 and 4 for its intended purpose. you seem more of a collector. please communicate this circumstance to the viewer, for the video being "theoretically" and describing it by "thoughts". its all ok then, viewers then know how to judge.
The absurdity of this sub-optimal survival knife 🗡 is that its intended market is under the delusion that they can take it into the woods and live forever. The only thing this knife is optimized for is in pretending to be Peter Pan . Its too thick to filet a fish, too short to chop down trees, wrong shape and not sharp enough to butcher animals, doesn't have a gaurd so not a fighting knife, lacks a mounting point so its not a bayonet, knife edge is not offset from the handle and the grind is wrong so its not a chefs knife. How exactly is this better in helping you survive?
Sorry, man. Really wanted to watch the vid but paused immediately after you said "however you identify." Many of your viewers are put off by any woke verbiage. We are men we are women. We don't identify. I'm sure you may be a great dude, but many of us don't tolerate boot licking or respect the WOKE language. It's gross bro. Just an fyi, no hard feelings.
No worries. Some people don’t like or get my style of humor. Thats the beauty of RU-vid, there’s so many other channels that your bound to find one that appeals to you. Thanks for the comment.
"Many of your viewers are put off by any woke verbiage" Get over yourself! It is not "woke" to acknowledge how someone identifies. I could care less if someone identified as an oak tree. How does it change your life?
