I can imagine how enjoyable it would be to be a student in your class just by looking at the way you're speaking with such an excessive amount of enthusiasm and motivation. Thank you for your informative videos and I'll look forward to more of it. I absolutely enjoyed it!
I've been teaching adults for couple of years now and sometimes It's really challenging, you are always thinking if they were really learning with your styles in teaching. Happy teaching☺
I enjoy watching your videos Teach. I’ve been teaching Koreans for 14 years now and I’m learning a lot of tips to improve my teaching skill from your vids. ❤️
Hello Teacha, I will definitely watch this since this is very useful because I am also an ESL teacher and whenever I have adult students, I get nervous.
B R A V O !!!!!!! Teacher Karen !!!!!!!!!!!!! You're A M A Z I N G and you have a very I N S P I R I N G personality !!!!!!!!!!!! Keep sharing your knowledge and more power !!!!!!!!!!!! ✨✨✨
Hey congrats 👏🏿🗣️ how did your interview go? I just got my certification and passed the course. But I feel like I don't even know where or how to begin in really nervous
I will have my interview today teach and I don't need a tip from his video but I still went and watched it to adapt your positive attitude in speaking. Haha! Share ko lang! :D
I've been teaching Korean students (elementary to senior high) for like 3 years. And this will be the first time that I'll teach adult koreans, like the parents. Also, first time to teach English, though I already had listening, reading, and writing with the kids, this one is different. I'm not good at talking to adults, also, I get easily nervous when I'm talking or when I'm with parents. 😅 Anyway, Thank you so much for sharing this video po, Teacher Karen! This will help me a lot po. More power. 💜
Karen, i would like to thank you for this video, it is one of the best I have ever listened to. Right to the point, your energy is fantastic, I will use all your insights in my teaching classes. Thank you so much. If you ever stop by Paris I will happily meet and talk with you.
Thank you for this Teacha! I really learned a lot from your videos. Teaching adults is really challenging for me😭 I actually have regular adult students. And I have this regular adult student that I don't know if he really learned something from our classes hahaha we always do freetalk and I just let him talk and I only talk after him. That's just the cycle of our classes. My question is, am I doing the right thing? or do I need to do something? Because after the class I always have this thought that, 'Why does he keeps on coming back if he does not learn anything from me?'
Maybe he enjoys conversations with you. The only thing you can do besides finishing the book, is to listen and give as many feedback /corrections as possible.
Maybe it's because I can relate to him hahaha we just finished the class for today and he talks about his sad thoughts. It's really sad. I was emotional during the class. I became an advice guru😂
You are GOLDEN! Although, I was exhausted after seeing your high energy :-) But, the TIPS are exactly right! I have been tutoring adults for 15 years, and I can say that your ideas are spot on! It was good for me to review those ideas and also to get motivation from you! I will pass it on to my adult learners! Thank you!!
@@TeachaKaren No Please do not change. You just have more energy than me because you are younger 😄 But, you are perfect as you are, and a GREAT and inspiring teacher.
Great video! Question, how much of the grammar should you teach adults who just want to learn English on a conversational level? Like do you teach them tenses, irregular verbs or stuff like that? Cause I always thought it was unnecessary to teach that to adults but then how would you teach them to communicate correctly?
Great point and great question teacha! Actually, I agree with you, there are pointless grammar rules that are not "THAT necessary" which can just confuse ESL learners. So what I do is I just focus on WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW... I discuss grammar points based on their errors... I give the correction, explain by expounding on the grammar point then allow them to try and make sentences on their own.
hi teacher Karen.. Im a newbie in Acadsoc.. My Tm is not responsive.. So im here because i know u can help me.. Can I ask why my 24 slots or unbooked classes are locked? I only have 3 absences,.
Unfortunately, absences authorize the company to lock your slots for their safety as they get complaints from their students and actually lose students due to tutor absences. That happened to me, I forgot I had a class, and my slots were locked afterwards. Some TMs also refuse to respond when tutors show attendance problems
Hello Teacher Karen, Good evening. I just want to ask with regards to the hourly rate of acadsoc tutors, do they rate new tutors based on their results on their final demo? and is there a chance that a tutor could change his/her TM? I hope you'll notice this teacher. Thank you and God Bless!
Not really based on the demo, but based on your overall performance in the next 3-9 months. I got 2 salary increases for great (not good) performance and perfect attendance in 1 year :) You cannot change you TM but you can send a feedback by clicking on the feedback icon on the left bottom part of Tutorclient so that your concern may be heard by Acadsoc.
@@TeachaKaren thank you so much teacher Karen ❤️ it's just because i got lower hourly rate than my friend even though my final demo class result was higher than her's. It has nothing to do with hate or anything to my friend teacher karen, i really like her, and she knows about this issue po, nanghingi po ako ng permission sa kanya 😅😅 it's just that i think it's quite unfair po, tapos yung TM ko po hindi nag rereply, she disregarded my question about my hourly rate 😢
and during my application process po, my recruiter said my initial offer would range from 90-110 😢😞 so i'm wondering why my hourly rate is low, now i'm ranting. I'm sorry teacher Karen 😅
@@maryshielotampus421 There is misinformation sometimes on the recruiter's part :( same thing happened to me, initial offer was 90, but my recruiter said that it could go up if my demo class is good...never happened. My salary increase happened because of hardwork, but I started off low too :(
@@maryshielotampus421 Baka dahil din sa experience? I was the best in class, yet my hourly rate was the same as the majority, the other one who has esl experience had a higher offer though, sad talaga ang differences sa hourly rate but recruiters also base it on your resume
