That makes perfect sense. It's a good way for ZOS to promote crown crates to people who never bought one themselves. I can see them programming that in
I'm a computer science student on my third year at university, in code you get something called pseudo random numbers so I could write code that picks a random number between 0 and 15 for example, these numbers are never truly random, but the crown crate system will have a piece of code for each reward in the boxes, the object of the crate themselves won't matter, and switching zones won't make a difference. In cryptography this random number is called a nonce and its used in encryption algorithms, one of the best random number generators uses lava lamps it takes a picture of a bunch of lava lamps on a wall and it generates random numbers from it.
I literally just opened fifteen crates and got two bonus card draws in a row. I did not move zones. I just kept drawing. There's no 5 pull hard minimum. What I've read (take with a grain of salt) is the RNG is very low but after some number of pulls the rate starts going up to help people with bad luck. That's probably why people think there's a minimum buffer of 5 draws.
I've always subscribed to the "RNG seed" theory. Basically, when your character logs in, a seed is generated. A high seed has better odds of better loot. I check it with daily writs. If I get at least 3 turn ins with gold upgrade mats, I'll open crates. I don't buy crates often, so my sample size is small, but I've had relatively good success. No apex, but usually 2-3 flips per pack and several golds (generally 150 xp scrolls, though). Of course, the sample size here is small, too, but you did seem to have an above average number of flips. Either, or both, theories could be correct (I've never heard if the "seed" changes on zone travel or not). Good video. I think if I buy crates again, I'll combine the theories and zone swap after I've gotten an assumed high seed.
I've been buying crates for a while. 3-4 crate cycles ago, the chance at a 5th card seems to have been adjusted lower. It went from me or my wife getting 1 radiant apex per 45 crates down to 0.
Thanks for passing on the info! It does make sense that backing out of the crown store and changing zones would act as a "reset" of the RNG on getting the special cards.
Would have been good *If* ZOS statisticians hadn't flooded the crates with "Golds/Apex" that are litteral trash (but you can't break them down into gems unlike a trash potion or scroll). Plus they increased the price of radiant apex since they became buyable while also skimping on sound and visuals on the "Apex" mounts (no summon animations like the Dro mathra senche had, no particles/Aura effects like how the Lizzard Apex mounts spat hist sap and glowed after rearing/howling)
I heard a rumor that refining Plat dust in smaller amounts yields more chrome. In my experience that has held up. In the words of Michael Scott, I'm not superstitious but I am a little stitious. Def worth a try!! Great vid!! #hogpissed
Nice! 👍 Don't think I ever had that many crowncrates though 😉 But it looks like it might be worth it to save them to be able to open more than one at a time. Thanks for the tip! 😊
Take that robot overlords bit sound byte it and ad it to a clip to play during an intro as a sorta collage of some of the awesome stuff you come up with! Pure gold man!
I have been buying crates since the first set released. I have managed to get 53 of the 63 total Radiant Apex mounts. I can tell you switching zones does not change the RNG. It is just that RNG. However I can say I do believe within their algorithm is a threshold that once crossed will increase the odd's of getting the Radiant mounts. It seems to be be around 250-300 dollars (100-120 crates). And that is within a given crate series not consecutive from more than one crate series. meaning if you spent $100 on one crate series, a $100 on another series and $100 on a third series that won't add up to getting past the threshold where he odds increase. It has to be in a given series. That being said I have seen it go much higher before ever seeing one drop. As much as 800 and hear others going even beyond that. There are the lower end of the RNG drops as well. Some report in their first crate O.o I have never seen that. My lowest I believe was getting one in the first 16 or 17 crates. But that was only one time. Most are in that 250 to 300 dollar range which is around 100 to 120 crates. I sent in tons of tickets talking to the GM's asking them over and over to allow people to be able to purchase them with crown gems. Literally over a year long having conversations with the Dev's. They actually let me talk to the Developers. I do love that about ZOs. they really try to listen for the most part. I am sure others will argue having worse experience. But I was very constructive in my conversations. Finally they implemented it. The dev I talked with regularly told me they had round table talks on my feedback. I explained that it wasn't fair to have such poor RNG never allowing some to even see a radiant. I was pretty pleased to see they actually made that change. Anyway the extra cards can drop 3-4 crates in a row sometimes. And can not drop for up to 14-15 crates. But on average they drop about every 7 crates. The zone changing is a little like all the gamblers that carry items rub their machine, wear a tin hat, pray to idols etc. etc. but to each his/her own heh :D Anyway I suppose switching zones might make your crates last longer if anything. All the Best !
Actually the reason why they did the gem purchase option for radiant apex mounts is because back in 2018/2019 they had allowed players to give their mounts to others via request. It got out of hand as whales were using the system to sell their radiant apex mounts for millions of gold till zos got wind of it finally then shut not only it down but the entire request for any crown store item that has been long gone service down. In turn they made the radiant apex mounts available to buy with gems. If whales didnt try to abuse the system to get lots of gold (there are other legitimate ways to get gold like selling crown in game) then they would not be available to buy with gems (or technically they would if you had a radiant apex mount from the same crate and 2000 gems as they asked for that one time from me when I wanted to do a swap before they even allowed players to give collectibles to others) and we would've still had the option to buy things long gone like houses or even things that wouldnt be back ever like broom and bucket (these never came back since the 1st jester festival as an example) so in short the reason they implemented it in eso was all due to whales forcing them to by trying to exploit their mount giving/swapping option for gold in eso which is a shame.
Bro'... I admire your dedication to get some good stuff...but if it's not already obvious and clear this works like a casino raffle or a lottery... it's coded this way that the house always wins... and just 1 in say a million (or whatever ratio is embedded in the algorithm) will win more than will spend... all the rest will spend more than will win... it's a classic game of chance where the house wins...
Bro you should do a video on the daily endeavors and the seals of endeavors. The seal store is kinda hidden, and a lot of peeps don't know they can now purchase straight up apex rewards without buying a single crown pack.
"Can" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here sadly with the amount of seals you get vs the price and regular inflation 😔 Just saving all mine for that one "i Must have this" Radiant Apex that comes along
As a new player one thing that kept me away from trying ESO was the crown crates.. I hate loot boxes in games. But since I heard they added the Seals of Endeavors I decided to give the game a try and I love it!
I think it has alot to do with luck and superstition but like you said it dont cost you anything if you want to do it and if it makes you feel lucky then might as well. I also have my own superstitions on crates, i feel like i get better stuff when im gifted crates opposed to buying them myself.
4 packs of 15 crates think i did change places in between opening, but not really intentional or aware. the third batch was very weirdly good lot of bonus cars, lot of gold cards, all three other packs were awful with mostly blue. Now that's weird. Also btw the golden cards from one pack were 2x the same ugly skin in a row (duplicates happen so often that its fishy, i also dropped 2 sovngarde bears before any other apex in those crates. i had about 180 and ended up with 3 apex total bear, bear, sabre, no radiant.) the rest of the golden cards were scrolls, the likeliness to drop a scroll in a golden/legendary card is much higher than other drops. Buying at least 60 crates , up to 100+ each time and untill potentate crates i have never dropped a radiant. By Now i have three. Untill Nightfall crates i didnt seem to even drop a normal apex within 120.
1 per 15 is abit odd i usually get them around every 5 crates

Thanks for the video, I'm gonna try this as soon as the new crates are out later today. Very curious about how it will work out and how lucky I will be.
The odds are definitely in ZoS' favor. I used to buy crown crates when I first started and for roughly the first 4-5 times that I bought 15 crate packs, I'd get mounts. After that I started getting tier 3 crap (5pt) almost non-stop. So I did an experiment on Xbox and bought 2 sets of 15 and got apex rewards both time, the 3rd and 4th time, got crap, as usual. It appears that the more that you buy crates, the worse your luck gets unless you're kissing someone's azz pretty deep at ZoS I suppose. My take is that, they try to get you on the "hook" with the first few and then bend you over after a certain point and dish out crap from then on out. This is one reason I have, after playing 12.3k hrs have been playing new games. Excuse my french but F ZoS and their crates, bugs, nerfs, broken unbalanced PvP and I could go on and on. There are positives of course, such as the artfully well done graphics and world but if everything else is broken, that basically turns it into a "walking simulator" or riding simulator. The seal of endeavor are okay as well but it doesn't fix the rest of the game now does it? I will not buy crown crates ever again and have quit buying anything tbh in their little rip off store because they are too pathetic to actually just say "Here! Just buy this apex mount for 45 dollars and save yourself 200-300 dollars coz your business means a lot to us!" but nope. I mean if FF14 can sell mounts for next to nothing compared to these clowns, anyone should be able to so. It's all about the $$ with ZoS. The only reason I would stay with this game is if they made it possible for me to get group items without grouping with unreliable players, sell their apex mounts outside of those RIPOFF crates and quit nerfing everything into the ground. It's almost like they are trying to destroy the game, really. If FF14 has a system where I can group up with a pre-made AI group, not have to worry about some know it all, someone passing out in dungeon, someone answering a phone call, some slow poke, someone writing a book, etc etc then I see no reason at all why ZoS can't do the same, to all you who love grouping, good for you. I bust my butt and the very last thing I want to do is group up with more people, after a busy day of basically doing the same thing irl. You do you and I'll do what makes me happy. 😘 I like your channel Jake, keep it up maybe you can help keep people playing and happy, always nice to see someone trying!
I doubt this zone change trick does anything to improve the drop rate of the rewards in the scamtastic crown crates. Has anybody tried this trick out and had better luck getting apex rewards yet?
I actually have had a success of receiving 2 or 3 Apex mount drawings, within one, or two 15 crate purchases.. I literally, didn't do anything other than purchase, and then open them. I was so impressed, that it drew me into more purchases.. And it slowed. But a handful of years back now, I was extremely lucky with rng. Whatever that was then, hasn't happened again. 🤷♀️
Hey I got a question for ya Jake! As a newer player and a first month ESO+ member I wonder. What it usually worth it to spend Crowns on that isn't crates? Housing? Exp scrolls? Styles?
Actually your bad odds may be because you hurry and open all cards… wait till he’s done talking. How is he supposed to give you an extra card if you open everything before he’s done talking. Their is no logic to this method I understand but no items are zone specific so no reason to change zones also if it resets when you change zones would that not reset any odds that may have built up from items you already got I don’t understand why your odds would get better lol it tells you depending on how many crates you get that you (will) certain get 4 rewards if you bought 15 crates may not be apex your lucky to even have an apex reward some people spent a lot and still no thing.
It doesn’t seem like the zone switching does anything to crates, not even sure if crates have a cooldown of any kind. This just seems like it’s solely based on RNG luck, like a slot machine. Tested this myself and did multiple things, nothing changed. I even gifted myself from another account to my main to see if anything changed and nothing really changed. These crates are just based on chance and luck, nothing more.
What's your thoughts on opening crates, but not switching zones doing them like you said to do a refresh on furnishings . . Open a crate untill flip card then change characters to open the next ?
Since I got a card flip on the same flip I switched zones I’d say that it probably beats any cooldown that’s they game “may” have. Switching characters would probably have the same affect though!
I always refine my mats singularly and if i dont get a gold mat for every 100 or so then i let the counter reset and start over but im very superstitious.
Gambling is disrespectful to money, and so the money disrespect you later in time. Now I don't play this game anymore I feel like my skins and cosmetics on an inactive account are nothing more then trash.
Once upon a time, like 2015/2016, it was the belief of many that zone achievements influenced the quality and rarity of drops and rewards. Perhaps the next time you open some crates, when you zone swap, be sure to visit the zones you have the most achievements for and see if it makes a difference.
Maybe this was a thing at one point but I don't think it is anymore just based on my personal experience. I've opened more of these things than I'd like to admit and I've gotten multiple "flips" (5th cards) in a row and I just sit there and open like 60 in one go. If you want to spend a little extra time to change zone in between then go for it I guess
I've also heard that if you get up and move around before pulling again you get more 5 card draws. None of it does anything. I've gotten 5 of the 5 card draws in a row before just sitting in my house the whole time not moving not getting up. So is that the way to do it?? No. Because it's all RNG. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't. The only verified increased odds is that the more you pull of once type of crate the more your odds of getting a radiant apex goes up. On average I'd say it takes around 200 crates to get a radiant apex unless you get a lucky pull. It's all luck of the draw and it's all weighted against you.
Did ZOS boost alchemy master writs? I usually open all daily boxes after 10 days and at least 4-5 alchemy master writs drops from them + maybe 2 from others boxes
Talking about the cool-down in atoll, I can 1000% say it is not 24hrs between motifs, recently I’ve had a couple of days where I have got two in a day, all be it they have been hours apart, and I have had back to back purple furnishing plan drops in there also on the same character
Subscribed for more ESO content. Still learning the basics despite being CP377 on my main. There's so much info and content within ESO it's difficult to keep up with everything lol
Gahhhh.... Crowns went on sale today... bought some.. grabbed the 15 pack... got 3 extra flips, even tho i ran the different zones lol. I has the unlucky.
How coding works , as soon as you buy those crates, those crates are what they are, you cannot change the chance unless , u change the code lol. C++ coding, java script, sql
i can confim every time i refine raw materials i just log off completely of the game wait a few minutes and then refine again that works for me and i get more yellows that way, :) but i have never try that with the crown crates most of the time i have good rng with mounts and good stuff in general but i had to buy sometimes with gems of course ;) btw i buy all the crates via gold crown exchange"
I was told a long time ago open crates etc. in the smallest house that you don't own (an unpurchased house not just someone else's). I do but still not sure if it helps
I've opened near enough 1000 crates over my time on eso. I can tell you this method doesn't do anything. It is solely RNG. I've had an extra 5th cards 3 or 4x in a row before without doing anything other than opening the crates. Odds for radiant apex seems to increase the more items you have owned out of those particular crates. Or atleast thats how it feels
That’s why I feel like their is some coding into it but I’m not sure - but since one of you guys approached me with a fast easy method I figured I’d show everyone
I tried this with a 15 pack and it's superstitious nonsense after all lol...only got 2 extra cards, 1 of them was the spectacles that I got from 2 crates earlier and the other extra card was the gold xp scroll. q6 lullabye just has amazing luck of the irish rng
Your RNG doesn’t seem to be any better then mine lol. I never get any mounts! It’s always some body marking or something I could care less about! Now you made me want to try my luck and open a crown crate! 🤣🤦🏻♀️😩
I have like 10 radiant mounts how I got them is stand outside that house in stonefalls where you start the harborage quest line I got told to try this I went there opened 1 box and get the radiant I wanted this was years ago I’ve been doing this ever since I always get one in less than 45 crates before this I used to spend £100s
Ialways feel defeated when rolling crates. my brain thinks "yeah man.... lets drop crowns in and hopef or some good stuff" aaaaannnnnnd its trash. lol. Ill never learn
It does seem like better odds for sure. At one time you went 13 rounds before you got a flip card, but then I think you went around the next 10 or 12 rounds with either 3 or 4 flip cards. So yeah I like those odds for sure.
LOL "if its 2025 and we defeated our robot overlords" you fool! 😆 Theyre lizards, wearing human skins TBH the most surprising thing i learned in this video is that people actually DO buy crates at all Frankly if they made them 90% cheaper, i still wouldnt buy them Id buy a few other things for 90% off, but not crates
@@Official_JakeClips As usual i was too busy complaining to also remember to applaud - i need to work more on this I did mean to also say its great youve shared this though, it certainly seems to encourage more "wins" overall And that is definitely worth sharing around Well done the guy for sharing it, uhm 26Lullaby (or something) and well done you for putting it out there Haha i like to think ZOS have just seen this and are currently rushing around trying to fix it asap
This is superstitious voodoo nonsense with no basis in fact. It IS clickbaity and dishonest of you to put this video out without any foundation. I'm generally very positive on your content, you're typically factual, accurate, and well spoken. I'm extremely disappointed, Jake.
From my perspective a viewer reached out and said that they had a method that boosts crown crates odds - and it costs nothing and adds not difficulty to your day. I make a video covering and discussing if this is possibility. And to be honest it could work and there is some evidence as to it may work. There are cooldowns on characters accounts and other roadblocks by the devs that is coded into the game. This easily could be a method to drastically boost your odds and again it’s free and quick. Why wouldn’t I want you guys to see this? If it required an upfront cost or was difficult I’d be more apprehensive but since it doesn’t everyone should do this because you lose nothing by doing and may lose a lot by not doing it. Hopefully that makes my position clearer. And I also dislike crown crates in general and I noted that also In the video because I hate gambling but I do believe in sharing knowledge between people.
@@Official_JakeClips This is not content. It's just a con. I think you've been trolled, to be honest. This is just easy and plausible enough to get your confidence. How about this one, if you drop group before collecting loot from a vet dungeon boss, you'll have a better chance of pulling a motif page because it thinks you completed it at a higher difficulty. Takes no time, might work, and you may get a few lucky pulls that reinforce your notion. But that's results-based thinking, and spreading it is doing a disservice to your viewers. This video already has a number of posts from people stating they will try it. And no doubt they'll share. This is just a raindance. I hope you reconsider covering unfounded tips that appear to be "free and quick" ways to manipulate the game. It may appear to be all upside, but the expense is the integrity of your channel. As I said, I respect your work so far, but I reach out on this one because it seems to be so contradictory. Thanks for the conversation. -Dan
@@dangevin I would normally agree however as an avid furnishing plan person, it is widely agreed that their are character cooldowns on harvesting plans. And currently in the atoll there is a whole day cooldown for the new motif. I’m not here to peddle misinformation and it’s not something I’d normally cover however when a viewer approaches and says they have a good method to help get better RNG - and zos has admitted to changing the rng. I think it’s highly plausible. Plus if I’d does work I want all of you to know because it’s simple and fast and I want you guys to know everything that I do 😅. I make these because I care and I want everyone to know any tip or trick that I do. For me it’s not about views money or anything else it’s just a trick I want everyone to know
have gotten back to back bonus cards plenty of times just sitting there in one spot. if i wanted to add to the superstition, ide mention that 3 of my 4 radiant apex mounts were from crates opened in homes. dont think it matters though. the crate unyieldingly does its rolls without regard to whatever rain dance we do or demon circles we make. the amount of data you would need from so many users opening soooo many crates each under varying circumstances in order to get more than a lizard-brain inkling of correlation, let alone a confirmed result, is astounding.
Same here. I've gotten flip cards back to back sitting in one spot. While obviously the cooldowns are present in game, I don't think they'd be dumb enough to put it in a crown crate. That's readjusting the odds for something bought with real money, which is too sketchy; even for Zos.
