The Elder Scrolls Online was released in 2014, making 2024 the 10 year anniversary of the game’s launch on PC which is huge milestone. Getting here has been quite a journey, but after a rough start, ESO has performed consistently well over time, making it one of the most popular MMO’s available today. But even with it’s popularity and its consistency, no one is talking about this huge problem which is affecting player enjoyment and progression and this is an even bigger problem for more experienced players and MMO veterans. agree, many of the IA/EA sets do feel meh. Perhaps similar to what you mentioned once you complete the stickerbook you unlock your "master" slot piece or something similar. This would give the option to use it as a 5 pc. if desired but also allow the flexibility you mentioned. I would like them to relook at many of the crafted and overland sets rather than adding more dungeon sets every year as well.

.I've been saying for years that they should rework most sets like they did pelenals. Add more special weapons like the arena ones( and change alot of those too) and weapon mithics that give special attacks. ( like flame blossom but not a 5 piece set) more weapon types would be nice too. Would love a polearm kinda weapon and maybe a wip or something. I DEFINITELY AGREE NO MORE SETS, FIX OLD ONES

I was thinking of less pieces per set and more slots, but I like your ideas more because that seems to be easier to balance. Many old sets should get some love too, but I don't see a good way right now to make them more viable, except for reworking them completely. I remember a ZOS survey about sets and I think I mentioned they should slow down with the introduction of new sets and try some more 1-4 piece effects or some non combat sets.

I also think a big issue is they never add new abilities and/or morphs to the original class and weapon skill lines.

@@ericuy2201 Nah, it's not enough at this point with no new abilities being added to the game ever. They need to start adding new things to the old class skill lines and weapon skill lines to allow for more builds and play styles. The game is so unbelievably stale. I was bored with the new expansion after 2 weeks.

​@@Bumbum_Inspectorin fairness, the "new" expansion of Necrom was pretty much an asset flip of 2016's Vvardfell resources. Regardless of new quests and dialogue, it was very small and got empty fast if you weren't exploring Apocrypha. When you consider that we only got one new area for the whole year, too, that gets *real* stale real fast.

@@DoritoBagWilkins Yea but I'm saying it's not just the small area, this happens every expansion pretty much for me because nothing ever changes. You just grind the new dungeons and trial (and endless dungeon for this expansion) for the sticker book and that's it. No build changing abilities and/or morphs ever get added to the game. No new weapon skill lines ever get added. I haven't needed to change any of my gear sets in years, it's always just Relequen and Pillar of Nirn for dps, 2 of 4 of the staple tank sets and 2 of 4 of the staple healer sets. Even the new class I was done with in a few days. Just level it to 50, give it the same dps sets as every other dps character, quickly grind the mandatory mythic item for laser beam arcanist and boom, 130k dps and the game is over again.

You want them to keep it the same boring and stale game forever out of fear of a potential brief and temporary imbalance brought on by new abilities, skill lines and/or weapons? You'd rather never have new abilities, weapons and skill lines added to the game?

I think the entire inventory system could use a revamp. Increase the inventory space per character(250 for example) and significantly increase the bank space(let's be honest, 240 is not nearly enough if you have 20 toons and being forced to sub to eso+ for inventory management should not be a thing to begin with. At least make the crafting bag a one time purchase. For example, there are around 173 unique survey maps currently in the game(up to necrom). Instead of those wasting away space in our bank, why not add them to a special edition of Eidetic Memory(the reward we get from shalidor for finishing the mages guild questline) or the crafting bag. Adding them to the former could make them be active at all times until collected. Adding them to the crafting bag(I would see them do this far sooner) could work the same as my last point or would only work if moved to the main inventory.

I think this is a great idea! 👍 One reason why they may not have done this is because adding an extra gear slot automatically mean more checks & calculations the server as to make. I think with the right server improvements & optimizations this would be a viable option.

If they calculated static values for every single piece of gear every single time damage is being calculated, this would almost be as bad as loading all stash tabs for all visible players... But for proc based effects this could indeed be a reason, though I don't think that this has been the reason in the first place.

My husband and I have been playing for about 8 years, we didnt even have jewellery :) But yes we agree with you, even a bracelet with special powers, or an delayed explosive arrow would be nice. I would also like to see the Crown Crates 50% cheaper after all they are only pretend but they cost real money and way too much. Most people cant even afford to buy Plus Membership or the crates its really sad when new players aproach us for free armor :( Thankyou for all you do, Zelanndonii and Kevin Australia.

@@erkan297 cosmetics absolutely effect gameplay. There are many activities I did for colors, there are trials I’ve done for skins, maelstrom arena all for a cool looking sword, and the game wouldn’t be as enjoyable if I couldn’t be a dark elf in a purple tux with a gas mask riding a psijiic guar (which I only have due to luck).

Mino! I agree! If you wanted to take it one step further you can customize this new slot even more with a skill line specific buff that the devs were intending. That would be to have a tattoo that corresponds with a specific skill line. So in essence if you are a Templar you would have the new class gear with a general class buff as the fifth. Then add the second pice (a tattoo) then the fifth becomes skill line specific with that tattoo.

This is a great idea. It would cause of bit of power creep, but it would be fantastic. Class focuses, a bracelet slot, and backpacks (much more reasonable than capes). Those three slot additions could add sooo much to itemization. They also need to go back and tune up the countless unused sets with some buffs. The easiest (and probably best way) to do this is to more liberally add an extra stat line to the 5pc bonuses, just an extra line of crit, or resources, or weapon and spell damage, something like that. Just one additional line of weapon and spell damage can push a mediocre set to something shockingly useable (especially if that stat is penetration)

I think beside a class item slot to also introduce new weapon skill lines for example a unarmerd weapon skill line, a spellsword or even introduce new skill lines (rework) for existing weapon skill lines.

1. Yes, More Slots! They can add 2 Earring Slots, 2 Bracelets, and a Charm slot. Boom! 2. They need to add more 1, 2, 3, and 4 piece sets to the game, going forward; including craftable sets. 3. They need to revist ALL existing sets & put stat bonuses on the sets that have non-stat effects. (Vicious Death, for example, has 2 bonuses for a full five piece; one stat bonus, and the 5 piece effect bonus). That way sets that no one uses can become viable outside their bonus/proc effect. 4. Devs need to be required to play EQ & EQ2, so they can see how class gear was so successful in those games. Then translate the positives from the 2, to ESO. 5. Add Race flavored gear. 6. Expand the Armor Skill lines, by adding more passives.

Love the idea! I think after seeing the new crafting stations, there is something that could be there for sets. Imagine feeding full gold sets into a new "blank" set, and then being able to pick from the bonuses from what you fed into it. Your idea is definitely easier but i think if ESO can make more of the sets already out there, relevant again... Then we can ride that for the next 10 years

I think a way to incorporate your idea while also combatting the issue of power creep would be that these class items, which take up one slot, give a significant bonus in one area for the price of taking a hit in another area. It would fit the theme that seems to play into the Hermeus Mora TOT deck too: that the setbacks makes these powerful cards nonetheless not overpowered since they can be disastrous to play if the setback happens to leave you open to your opponent in a way that is more significant than the benefit you get. In other contexts, of course, the same card bonus is overcoming it setback and can get you the win. So imagine applying this principle to item sets: people would need to really think strategically not only about what they pick, but also what circumstances those item bonuses and item setbacks should have them adapt to differently, so as to avoid succumbing to the setback while realizing the potentials of the benefits. This would diversify gameplay while also ensuring the class slot item continues to provoke strategic thought. If it's just benefits, one can slap it on and sort of forget about it. Not the same if it comes with both benefits and setbacks ;)

Out of curiosity, do you keep your written build guides up-to-date? Because I'm looking at your Necromancer Tank and I just have no idea if it's still solid, if it's been nerfed to Oblivion, if there are better gear sets now etc.

what if they added a gear slot for mythics so you don't have to give up on a monster set to use a mythic, or use 1 5 set and 1 broken set to use a monster set and a mythic. And instead of the class specific slot they make it so you can add another class skill to that slot or if you slot your own class it changes or buffs the specific skill you slot, and based off the grade of the slotted piece would increase how many skills in that line you can use, like the yellow version would allow you to equip 3 skills from that class line that you could pick from. It would really allow for some interesting character customization. Or scrap the 5 sets entirely and lower it to a 2 and 3 set bonus so you could really customize your builds better. Adding some new weapon skillines would go a long way too, like unarmed, wands ect.

Been playing since the game was released. ANYWAY, what if, in addition to transmuting the traits on equipment; we could transmute the 2, 3, 4, and 5 piece bonuses of any set?

I agree, and I think it is a great idea. Yes, this could affect the PvP balance, but this could be solved easily by reducing the bonus when in PvP. Four hundred or more sets are pretty overwhelming, and adding more won't give you more options. Another way would be to power up some older sets, which won't fix the problem. I would also love the idea of new items that say, “When wearing this, reduce the number of pieces to get a set bonus by one.” You can wear this item and have two five-piece-set bonuses, which will take up only eight slots. You still have three places left and even get a four-set bonus from this. You can have three five-piece bonuses when using an extra slot for this. This will even make three-piece sets more useable, which were used by no one at the time.

Frankly, the whole idea that they're unable to balance stuff for PvE and PvP separately is getting old. All they have to do is add a stipulation for set pieces and changes that starts with, "when battle spirit is active...." World of warcraft does this and it works great.

They could easily introduce this slowly by limiting what sets can be used in PVP and gradually grow the list as they complete the "Dual Functions" of particular sets

@@Adz2 agreed. I think a big reason we don’t see a lot of these “no brainer” changes is because the top devs have moved to their new IP coming out in the future; the space oriented MMO/RPG. That’s why I feel bad purchasing things in the crown store too, as I feel like the funding support is going into the new game and not the one we’re trying to support here. But who knows! I’ve had a ton of faith restored since u38, 39 and 40 have dropped with the quality and quantity of content released. Future looks bright, but definitely keeping hopes and expectations low

I like this idea. Here's a counter/additional proposal: class based Enchantment. Something in the form of a non-craftable Rune that provides a class-based buff. It could be a small buff that could be stacked with others of the same type or (simpler to code) a singular one-off allowing mixing and matching depending on your play style and build.

ZOS has stated in the past that they did not add cloaks or capes because the game can’t handle it. It already struggles to handle a large group of players in Cyrodiil… imagine if all of them had cloaks on top of that lmao

Great summary and love your suggestions! Was wondering about the point of these class sets as well and man would I love to see another gear slot, just one more ring that could enable to wear two sets, a mystic and an undaunted could make great combinations possible. Hope a dev is listening! I love the idea of Class specialization via its own slot also instead of more mind bending set options.

I wanna add that I agree with your general sentiment about sets and their problems, though I also think it's actually fine if they are variations to an extent. But it's definitely not perfect. I'm also kinda hesitant about class sets because I fear how mandatory they could get. I think something that really holds the game back is light attack weaving. NOT the skill factor, I actually think it's good there is a skill expression factor, but the fact that it completely deletes the visual feedback from especially melee combat. I actually have this reason be the #1 by a landslide among those that I know that tried the game. They could not see past the visual feedback of melee even with just the occasional unintentional animation cancelling, and I honestly can't blame them. I really wish they could find a better solution to this type of skill expression. It currently works, but it's also only something you feel good about once you get into it via the key press feedback, it simply can't be visual feedback. And so many gamers derive pleasure from that aspect. It's literally the reason why "melee sucks" is a keyword you often hear from potential players, not the actual system behind the melee.

I agree. I hate that my character just sits there jittering while damage numbers pop up. It completely removes any weight or impact from the combat at all and just makes me feel like I'm inputting numbers in a spreadsheet or something.

While I burnt out on the game, Warframe had a cool idea with items that would fundamentally change how an ability worked. Imagine if the Warden's Shalk ability healed allies or a DK's damage shield changed to an AoE fire damage. Something like that. Now, ESO kinda has this already written ability morphs, but most of them are very small tweaks like choosing between using stamina or magicka. The Arcanist added some far more dynamic morphs, but I think they could go further with an item in HTM's "class slot".

Ah, warframe....the game that broke one of my keyboards after introducing those quicktime events in the Kahl content. Why did they want us to hammer keys like that? You are right though, the game has some great ideas, but never before have i lost actual hardware to a game.

Very good points. I agree, an additional slot or way to use additional armor sets would be a cool way to expand gear options and build options. Doing the same thing with skills would also be cool. Spell crafting or some other kind of approach that changes the way your skills work…

Great video Hack. You always find ways to try to put into perspective what eso is good at & what its lacking as the year comes and goes. The thing that gets me with Zenimax is they can put in over 1 million different ideas to revamp PvE content and PvEr's go crazy for it, meanwhile, me a PvPer since 2015 has seen just about NOTHING from the company in terms of revamping ANYTHING for the gameplay loop. The latest chapter reafirms my bias towards the game and how its shaped today being that theres so many sets in this game YET we only use half of them. Which begs the issue, WHY KEEP GRINDING, when we're only gonna use what's best and get the job done. I can't with this company anymore, i'm just like every other pvper, grasping at whatever's left of hope that ZOS will change for the better and remake the ESO WE ALL FELL IN LOVE WITH. But thats a pipe dream, you know it, we all know it. And many ppl will continue to keep throwing money at the game which is their problem but it is what it is. Great video non the less.

A PVP exclusive server would be helpful good for PVP interested players. Making the entire map, not just Cyrodiil a PVP environment, would be a good concept to implement.

Forgive me if I'm missing something in your explanation as I haven't been playing a lot this year due to health reasons. But if this is armor you can get as a solo player (ie someone who doesn't do trials) wouldn't it be best then?

The idea of adding class set slots reminds me of some Skyrim armour mods adding gear slots. For example, my Skyrim character uses an Ezio-style Assassin's Creed armour. It adds a cape hanging off your shoulder, and a couple things hanging off your belt, each being a separate item you can enchant. So, this many slots becomes THIS MANY slots. There is another mod allowing you to wear circlets WITH a hood. There is also a mod for wearable lanterns, which makes the lantern hang from your belt. That hanging from your belt slot is also how Inigo is able to carry Mr Dragonfly's jar. It is not so much a matter of engine as it is a matter of code. All you need to do is code the item to go here instead of here, so the class set slot becomes a cape, or something hanging from your belt.

I would love to see them introduce archive sets that synergize with other sets specifically. Like 5 piece that gets more powerful if you pair with new moon acolyte or something. That would help keep sets alive. Or more 7-10-12 piece bonus sets. Also maybe 2 piece mythic. And some fun sets, like something that buffs food for every 30 minutes, you have it equipped, capping at 2 hours of wearing it for max improvement on the food you make. I also wouldn't mind if they just phased out a bunch of sets. They could turn them into treasure pieces that sell for 250, 1500, 7500 depending on blue, purple, or gold quality.

This is a great idea, i like the option of adding a slot for class sets. They could even go as far as making skill line sets. Like an archer set that gives increased ranged damage. Or a sword and board set that gives increased block, or reduced crit damage when blocking, or something cool. I also think they could add in 2 earing slots for jewelery crafting. And adding in those 2 slots would open up sooooooo much more variety, and you could maybe fit in a 3 piece with your 5 pieces, or fit a full monster set, a mythic and 2 five pieces while having both 5 pieces active 100% of the time. Idk some bit of variety just from adding earing slots would change a decent amount. I do think a lot of sets need some buffs. Id like them not to nerf strong sets right now, but instead buff weaker sets to try to get them on par. And if the weaker sets get too strong thats fine, it just means a new meta

I think another thing that could be done, if they really aren't interested in making all of the sets viable, is to take a similar approach when it comes to mythics. From my understanding of them, they seem to either be buffed or kept subpar as to prove worthwhile to have on a build and interrupting the 5 piece set of one of your items while not completely being overpowered. Turn the Mythics into Tablets and the Class Bonus into Soul Stones. Mythic Tablets you still would have to find and discover through the antiquities system but you could equip to your character on the left side of the head in the character equipment panel, while Soul Stones would apply a class bonus to your character to change them up like the sets or even like the same kind of thing from Borderlands that would go on the right side. This would allow for a large amount of build diversity to explode. The only potentially negative impact is that the game becomes even easier, which is a downside to the hardcore players but a plus side for the casual and new players. While I hope they can implement something like this, I am also not holding my breath either. It's essentially the same thing that happened with Mythics way back, but even then that was just a single item interrupting your 5 piece where this is a whole replacement kind of deal.

I agree here Hack, I have often thought tbh with all the arena set bonuses and monster set effects it would be cool to be able to use these alongside 5 piece sets. So my thought on this would be to have 2 trinket slots added. So you can then destroy arena set items and monster sets etc to power a trinket and equip it to gain the effect of the set you have destroyed. We could then have these awesome sets alongside 2 5 piece sets and a mythic item if we wanted to. This idea should be pretty easy to implement too since we already a system within the game that lets us consume crafting tables to add to an already existing item. So it would be the equivalent that for 2 new gear slots. Could include trinkets as craftable vessels for the effects too using JC while we were at it.

I agree! Having an extra item slot would dramatically change how we could build our characters along with how you said doing a two or three piece set. The only thing I want fixed is to not have forward movement stopped by a ground tile change. Having to jump over EVERYTHING, including stairs, is ridiculous.

Rings are already invisible so no new graphics to develop. But adding any new gear slots is going to add a lot of data maintenance to a system, that on console, already experiences performance issues. Even with the “new servers” performance is noticeably worse since the introduction of Infinite Archive. I can only speak for PS but some content is approaching unplayable on the 4 due to extreme lag, blue screens, and being kicked from the game for excessive messaging or internet connectivity when those issues did not actually occur. The PS5 performance is not nearly as smooth as it was when the new servers were implemented. I love the idea of new slots for class items but fear the toll they could take on playability.

I agree with you 100% on the class-specific gem slot. However, that will only further break the balance of the game. The hybrids need to be rolled back slightly, and they need to separate the mag to stam max stats again. The sets in this game just need to be updated and to be honest i think they should make more sets be similar to 1, 2, 3, and 4 slot of gear sets. I love the weapon nd jewelry gear sets but they are so bad in comparison to just rocking 2 5 piece sets with a mythic. Also they need to fianlly address the 9 year-long proc set issue bc if they do not then introduce the class gem it will only make the master dw vate build more broken and dry in pvp, and in pve they still have not been able to balance procs with rel being just leagues above everything else and with hybrids the pve builds are all copy and pasted on every class.

They could use a new slot, call it a talisman or something similar, make it hang from the belt or add wrist wear. They could rework existing sets to include a 3 piece bonus and a 5th to allow for more mixing of sets, Just like trial sets have the bonus to trial and dungeon monsters, add an extra buff there to add flexibility in builds.

A Class slot could be interesting, but they could add bonuses in other ways too, such as allowing gemstones to be slotted into jewelry, armor, or weapons. And perhaps adding a gemstone crafting feature where gemstones can be combined to make new gemstones before slotting.

Like your thoughts but the way I think they should handle subclasses is different. While I agree some changes to itemization would be great I would hate to get locked into some new item system they could make us pay for the newest chapter to get access to or whatever they decide to do in the future. Instead I think we could easily have a built in subclass system which would allow us to upon reaching level 50 in that skill line go to a trainer who can let us specialize in that skill, locking out our other two skill lines but extending the specialized line to a full class kit. It wouldn’t be overpowered and you could still play the old way with all three but if for example you are a sorcerer and really want to use just dark magic you can or a warden and you want to go all in frost mage you truly can. I main a sorcerer and I’m the kind of person where when I’m making a build I either want all the pets or none. It would be nice if I didn’t feel like I always have to have a pet with every build or I’m really gimping myself if I don’t. This can be said for all classes though

I would totally support the idea. They could even implement it afterwards without changing that you need to collect those 5 set pieces. One possibility could be that after you collected the 5 set pieces, you have to craft them into a single new piece for a new slot

Would be nice to have a class set slot. Or let me ask if this would be crazy. Perhaps they could introduce a way to “absorb” gear abilities to another type of slot/slots, allowing players to take one, two or even more different abilities from gear. Maybe have quests that allow you to open “slots” for gear abilities. This would of course start to make the characters stronger over time as they add to the unique abilities. Also, Zoe needs to allow for actual gear one companions. If you’re going to push for more self quests/dungeons, then make it more fun.

One addition I would say would be cool is similar to Borderlands 1's Relics. Changing elements with additional abilities, like a Poison for Mage nightblades, and making it some Magic Damage converted into Poison Damage can spread to another target. Also I could be upgrade overtime like a Skill Tree, and increasing the percentage of damage conversion, or the amount of targets.

Not sure whether itemization is the biggest issue, but I gave up on keeping up with theory-crafting many years ago because of reduced play time and the constant deluge of new sets. Yesterday I considered changing my original character (that has been neglected for years and years) into a stamDK, and there apparently are lots of poison buffing/poisoning sets, yet from what I read a handful of powerful generic stamina dps sets are all much better. I like the new class slot idea given that we are drowning in skill lines and item sets. New avenues for customization are needed. The recently announced Scribing along with Class Foci (a.k.a. class slot options) would be great for shaking up how devs think about making or revamping/pruning traditional gear sets. There could be more than just one option for each class skill line, or even some that effect all class skill lines. Not at first and not for a while, a slow release with feedback is required for the system to develop over time. I for one have thought of making a Coldfire DK since 2014 or 2015 so let's gooooooooo O.o

When the archive was first mentioned and class sets tied in I was hoping the sets would be viable in all content or viable exclusively in the archive. Like mentioned it's a fail, the DK and Templar sets are the best in the lot and both are not B.I.S. I like the idea of a class specific trinket/slot etc especially if it can tie into sets that are never used and are pve/pve versions to avoid nerfs. The only good thing in there are the leads and the mount (just got the mount the other day). What I am afraid of is them adding motifs/new patterns as drops after I have all the set pieces (I'm about 80 percent done). Ty Hack keep up the good work, happy New Year all.

I love this idea, although they would have to think about how they account for players who already grinded for the class sets in Infinite Archive and future grind because it would probably not be as free as just getting one single drop for your piece and be done with it. Additionally, they'd have to think about whether or not they allow those pieces to have traits or enchants, maybe neither for balance reasons, if these are maybe collectibles instead of items and you could swap them as you unlock them, allowing them to not take inventory space.

Good idea. I do think that itemization is a limiting factor. skill morphs is another. I just recently returned to the game (I've played off and on since it released), and I was literally thinking to myself today as I unlocked some morphs on my new character, wouldn't it be great if they added an additional tier of morphs? perhaps the same amount of points, or only a few more, so you could choose to be more generalized in your skills, or sacrifice some extra skills to make a few really focused or powerful. extra gear slots just seems logical to me, like earrings, or perhaps a "brand" or "mark" slot for the class specialties. I would love to see more ways to change the very old skill systems which hasn't changed much at all since release, they've only added a few classes to spice things up. I think introducing some class questlines for those brands would be fun as well, since you want to make it an ESO experience. Like having to find a specific master of your chosen "art" style within your class, and have a decent questline they send you on to unlock your specialty. Magika brands would have to start at the mages guild, stamina at the fighters or thieves guild, etc. great way to link older guilds to newer content, then they could send you to your specialist. Like with the nightblade, if you were going for the drain concept (blood mage) you would find some old blood mage on the outskirts of Oblivion. or if you're going the route of assassin, you need to hunt down the world renown assassin whowusthat, last known to be deep in the bowels of X city. Or how about a beserker line for dragonknights, and you need to find an ancient Nord warrior atop some peak somewhere. lots of great story to be had in this stuff. unlocking the brand could even unlock the next tier of morphs for that skill line for you, and then allow for a brand of your choice, etc. It would add allot of depth to the old and dusty class design, which given that it's Elder Scrolls, should be a major focus.

an extra gear slot would just be an excuse for me to ask for a visible cloak gear slot ;) Edit: You mentioning subclasses immediately makes me think of Guild Wars 2's Elite Specialization system which I've always thought is super cool, and I would really love something like that to give more class identity to the classes. Because currently, especially because of hybridization, a lot of the classes' meta builds tend to play the exact same, a lot of people have been saying it brought diversity into builds but it really didn't, sure it added extra options maybe for magicka dds, but overall it removed diversity between classes. You can of course just not go for a meta build, but you will have to deal with the fact that you're just not going to be as strong.

I always thought they would add 'gem slots' onto armor to give your gear a bit more variety which would buff specific spells/abilities. So you could for example use a templar class with all gem slots use to buff blazing spear which turns it into an execute whilst healing your teammates or something like rather than everyone spamming radiant oppression.

Proc sets ruined the game for me. I felt like it took a huge chunk out of the skill gap in a boring way. Also, trying to disable animation cancelling and poor server stability for pvp. Honestly, proc sets aren't bad for pve imo, just bad for pvp.

I like your idea about having a new slot for a class piece. Instead of buffing a specific class line though, maybe they could adda new skill for that class line. Something that would be more powerful than a regular skill off of that line, like say 15-20% with say a 10-12 second cooldown so it's not spamable, but not as powerful as an ultimate ability, but for the same cost as a regular ability.

Maybe use arm torc(s) for 1-2 piece class sets. Presently you only have ring and necklace under jewelry so an addition here would be nice. Lots of design options too. They could also be used to buff pve and pvp builds.

Conheci o jogo em seu lançamento para Xbox One. Me diverti muito até atingir o nível máximo (50) e descobrir como montar buils, quais itens usar, quais armas, etc. Na época, me diverti no pvp com meu Dragon Knight, depois com meu Templar, mas o jogo exigia cada vez mais coordenação de grupos, jogo em equipe, que apesar de, na teoria, ser muito legal, na prática é quase impossível de se manter (não tendo uma vida a parte do jogo). Isso me fez abandonar e voltar ao jogo muitas vezes, e quase desistir de jogar. No entanto, o estado atual do jogo me fez voltar, a existência de builds que usam apenas uma barra de habilidades, poder jogar solo, não ser dependente de certa classe, certa raça, de grupos imensos como das trials (pode ser muito divertido, mas para quem é casado é complicado e acaba estressando mais do que divertindo) e poder aproveitar mais as histórias, explorar os mapas, e poder me juntar com pessoas aleatórias para enfrentar um world boss, tudo isso é muito divertido. Não gostaria que o jogo aumentasse a necessidade de grupos, de organização, de itens específicos, o que iria requerer mais materiais, mais perda de tempo e consequentemente menos diversão. Gosto de como está, gostaria de ter novas classes, novos sets, mas não novos metas a cada update (e menos powercreep de classes) e novas moedas, novos materiais, novos esforços não divertidos - tudo já está estabelecido, você aumenta seu nível, melhora suas habilidades, fabrica seus sets, suas armas, ou os consegue em dungeons, consegue materiais de melhorias, e pronto, chega, hora de se divertir! Um grind infinito não seria nada interessante.

what could be good also is more versatile mythical or class mythical. we spend 3 weeks hunting for a mythical but if its for dps well too bad if i want to do a healer character i have to hunt another again so what if they do ultra versatile and powerful mythical that the effect would change based on role you change your role in group options it change the effects why class well because arcanist specifically use cruxes and others classes has well different skills i think that would be awesome that way we hunt mythical yes but better quality and they can be used on more characters because for dps sure its easy you have oakensoul but for tanks and espacially healers its more tricky

It sounds awesome on paper, but I imagine the technical difficulty of adding gear slots is probably substantial/opening up a ton of balance issues and new bugs. However, on the idea thar we are giving up a 5 piece set, I would have accepted 3 piece class sets because then we could still wear a mythic and full monster set.

For the most parts I do agree and like your ideas for a new gear slot, but I feel like this could be added in place of something like a monster set. When I first heard of these class sets, I was hoping for something a little more ambitious than what we actually got. I was hoping for some armour sets that altered how some skill worked, something like a 3rd morph for certain skills, for example on a Necromancer summoning Skeletal Arcanist/Archer would summon 2 or 3 summons who deal slightly more damage, have slightly more health and remain summoned for longer. It would turn the Spirit Mender into a pet similar to the Daedric summons on Sorcerer, and they would need to be killed to take them off of the field. Things like this could have really changed how people played their classes.

11:28 ESO did technically introduce a new gear slot. It used to be that each weapon counted as 1 item no matter what the weapon was. So dual wield and sword & board builds had 12 slots to use/fill but everyone else only had 11. Also necklaces weren't a thing in the very, very early game. So it was possible to have only 10 slots to use depending on your build and when you were playing. The idea of adding a slot that can only be used by class items is really nothing more than a selectable buff and not a gear slot. If no existing set gear can be found/crafted to use that slot then it isn't a gear slot. With a new slot you should be able to use two sets of 5 and one set of 3; instead of two sets of 5, one set of 2 and another one set of 1 (in the new slot).

I would implement it as a stance slot, so you can add different stances for skill lines as a whole so like an assassination one siphoning one but also a two handed stance, werewolf etc, you can even put in lower level generalist ones for lower levels. On top of unique buffs you could even give them animation changes for combat (which could be hideable like helmets)

Esos basically selling "seasons" as expansions and charging the price of a full game to buy them. I love eso but i take long breaks as do many people, by design every time i want to play eso again i now have a new expansion to buy. Most current builds you will see are including items from the newest expansion and you feel like your playing with a handicap without it. Im fully aware you can not buy the expansion and play the game you have as is but in an already established mmo setting its bothersome to be doing old content while everyone is doing new content, getting new items and making that bag by farming the new content. So i go play something else despite loving Eso and wishing i could go hard on it, i cant justify the price while other games are releasing free season after season content.

Honestly what you're talking about is the model of mmorpg in generals. Games like FF14 and wow is on a 2 years span expansion for 60$, while eso is yearly 30$. The different is because eso progression system has a clear cap, and it pretty much go horizontal then on; so the game isn't presuring you to get the newest expansion. About the item sets for build, I have seen the same builds for both pve and pvp for years. So the "feeling like you're handicap without the newest expansion" is honestly just a feeling.

You have to have a sub to play, buy an expansion, and people and still buy gold and stuff with real money through the Blizzard store. Yeah, imagine if they didn’t charge for new content. It’s almost like they wouldn’t be able to stay in business for ten freaking years to keep giving us such a cool game. They have to charge for something, whether new content, subscriptions, etc. to stay in business. But, I’m sure those games that dish out free content all the time are real top tier games with longevity like ESO has going for a decade plus. Perhaps that’s why you eventually come back after those long breaks. Deep down you understand, even if you despise it, that good games come with price tags. Or you wouldn’t keep paying the price for it to return. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just want to see more of a focus on bug fixes. I was talking with a few guildies. Craglorn's Seeker's Archive quest can't be finished even after all these years. Azandur's Favor is still broken in reference to activating an Ayleid well. Reports of this issue go back to April of 2023. These examples are just a small handful that I can think of.

I think the class slot could go beyond the good idea you just mentioned. You can carry that “subclass” prospect into the CP system as well. The perks for these special section should fundamentally alter your abilities, animations, weapon skills, buffs specific to your class, etc. the cost for these perks can be higher than average since they provide such unique and powerful abilities (make them like 50-100 points depending) there would be a great incentive to flesh out special class perks because you get fresh new animations, particle effects, and more refined damage/buff/debuffs.

I just returned maybe 3 weeks ago from another long break. I bought the newest dlc a week after. I got the best in slot (not perfected yet) in 3 days of actually trying which I replaced my false God set. I am probably going to preorder the next dlc and throughout all my breaks (3 of them) I kept eso+ the entire time. Kinda nice returning to the game with new content and a bunch of crowns to get crates and whatever else I want. I'm satisfied with the game 100%. I thought about cross play. I mostly like it but what would it do to the market and how difficult would it be tr guilds to maintain their traders? It'd probably double weekly dues if not triple.

Class slots is a good idea. Them being BiS vertical progression is bad. They should be mostly horizontal progression just broadening playstyle options or they will be a balancing nightmare or will just further pigeon hole classes into certain builds.

I think A singular set item, like the legendary pieces, would/could be good additions, and a a new set piece slot to put it in would be good as well. I think taking it further and allowing the piece to lock you in to your choice, and making your morphs morph differently and such would be amazing as well. Kind of what destiny does with their armor/item slots could be a good direction for customabilty and a "new content" feel for the game all over. New players pulled in. Veteran players pulled back in, ETC.

I think if they did something like this they'd also need to slap some kind of penalty for out of line abilities just to keep the class slot things from feeling mandatory, or throw in a class agnostic alternative for people who's character fantasy comes from their weapon/element choice and not their class like "Guildmaster's regalia - Your direct damage abilities have a chance to cause your next damage over time ability to deal 80% of it's total damage up front, but the damage of your class class based direct damage abilities is reduced by 33%" or "Battlemage's Regalia - Your weapon abilities are infused with the element it's enchanted with and if that element is shock, fiame, or frost you can cast destruction staff abilities with it as if it were a destruction staff of the same element."

While I don't see itemisation as a problem, I'd have another idea, instead of more gear slots. A a crafting option. Imagine you could take 5 pieces from your sticker book and turn them into say "Lesser aspect of the Sergeant" (Sergeants Mail) which crafts that bonus on a piece of existing gear. Imagine 10 items from the stickerbook would make the "Major aspect of the Sergeant" with which you can add the 5 piece bonus to your existing different set. The pieces would then vanish from your stickerbook and would need re-farming to craft the aspect again. That would give us interesting ways to add 1 or more additional set effect to a character already wearing 2 sets, and also make sure your sticker book will never quite be complete.

I could imagine a class crest that makes the Achive sets into 6 piece sets. They could keep the 2-5 bonus but get a Crest Item bonus and a 6 Item bonus. Nightblade could get "blood thirst" stacks with every Siphoning activation that is always active through a single piece that could be on the crest slot. The crest bonus is active if you wear the crest of the set while the 6 item bonus increases the stacks of the crest. Any nightblade could get up to 2 stacks of "blood thirst" by using it as a crest while the 6 piece will improve the stack up the 6. one could however also play the set as a 5 piece using the crest slot to get the full 5/5 bonus and the regular crest effect but not the trippled bonus to save a slot if one wants to skip the improved crest. I hope I make sense with my explanation. Edit: If no bonus slot is possible one could still make the Class sets a set with a 1 item bonus on top of the 2-5 item boni.

I agree 100% with the item slot idea. I know games that have like 4 extra slots for Charm, Cloak, Runes and Bracelets. All those have one or two abilities and there are a ton of different types of them. This really open up for tuning your builds. Lets say you get one Shadow Charm, Shadow Rune and a Shadow Bracelet, all of the same type you get some extra bonus for Stealth and P.atk for example, or maybe 3 diffrent of them unlocks a secret ability. And it should be a new way to obtain them by crafting and combining certain components.

I had essentially the exact same idea. I was thinking even of a Tattoo slot functioning similar to a second mundus stone or something. However the new problem becomes power creep. I don't think that within ESO there's any accounting for player skills or gear, only accounting for player level. So imagine how quickly high-end content might become trivial if you're max CP with full BiS and your class set item giving you maybe 20% increased power on top of that. And if the trend continued as you suggested it would only become worse. The only workaround that I can think of would either be purely mechanical changes or power tradeoffs. For example with the nightblade class set, sure, 18% dmg and healing from siphoning but 9% reduced in the other two specs. Or for example with the Necro one make it so that you can use yourself as a corpse but can't use other corpses or something. I'm not here to figure out the exact balancing, those suggestions may be nonsense but hopefully the point is made.

I thought this was a missed opportunity with mythic items. They should have done "crest" slots, which in a lot of MMO's is exactly where you pointed out in the character sheet. This would be a good fix for future endless archive gear as it is new, but definitely could have been better with mythic items as it already hurts the 5 piece sets the most.

maybe they could add a light/med/heavy armor layer with a percentage chance of all sets triggering their 5 piece bonuses. you could wear a maximum of 2 additional sets, limited to each weight style. additional sets need to be one of 7 body pieces and they have to be fully worn as a 5 set. the chance of a set activating increases with your playstyle. if you use a lot of magicka spells and light attacks, light sets are boosted. melee stamina and dodge rolling boosts medium. blocking and heavy attacking boosts heavy. the outer main layer of sets you wear would have a higher chance of procing, with jewelery and weapons being active at all times. the main layer would be the only armor visible and if you choose to wear only 1 layer of armor, then its 100% uptime. so essentially, making useless sets usable with builds, adding more customization to gameplay and theory crafting, while reducing the amount of power creep.

I started playing 4 months ago and it really is confusing looking at all the gear to choose from, that class slot idea sounds really cool seeing how much armor pieces there are. Also this reminds me of the artifacts from destiny 1 rise of iron, and I really liked how those let you change the way you play. (Also great video).

they can add double armor slot only for class sets that include jewelry, armor and weapons to buff the armor bonus, like wear 7 light armor pieces and with double slot you use 5 heavy armor class set pieces, so u get both bonus. people get more tank but also hit harder so its getting balanced and class sets get more required to wear

I suggested in FF14 that since class artifact weapons are usually their own thing that they make Off-Hands into their own thing for them... You could do that here, but as it's own slot. (FF14 Artifacts could really just be one slot, rather than a Mainhand-Offhand. Since half of them are two handers anyway. And some are "Pairs" of their own) A 1-piece Set, that you can upgrade and swap out for a different version. Make them Passive at the start but once you've upgraded them they become "Upgrades" to the skill line. Could even make the Slot work for any Skill line... Add it as something that comes from Scribing? (Maybe) and it's like a Record or Item that's specific to the class, the Upgrades to it could even be class Questlines, devling into the past/historic figures or factors that made them what they are. Who knows.. brain is all over the place.

You touched on many areas but all of them relate to one topic of discussion; specifically, the betterment or logical progression of existing content. You raised several interesting concepts and I could see many of them having a positive impact, if implemented. You spoke of each idea as a separate topic but many of them can be combined into a single change that could offer a broad array of changes on top of all existing options. First, let's talk about about the "type" of change that could implement a single or (with greater impact) many changes with just one addition to the existing game. Specifically, a new equipped item slot. Adding this could provide a delivery mechanism for most of your suggestions by combining the "way" this slot is implemented. As someone who started on PC and transferred to PlayStation, I think adding a class specific slot item with specialization would be awesome. Like in your example, you could fine tune a NB in to be a blink tank, or something spicy for a tetherbomb 🥹🫶. The other thing a lot of us would really like to see is a revamp of PVP. We need a fourth faction, new map, or possibly both. When the game works (which PS5 has helped a massive amount with load screens and disconnects) it has one of the best fighting mechanics of games I’ve ever played. A lot of us still enjoy the game, but we would really like to see a change to Cyrodiil that isn’t just going into Imperial City (which is also still fun). I think you hit a lot of good points about the game and how they could improve it for years to come. I really hope the developers see this and listen.

also, so that they dont waste the existing 5pc class set. they can introduce a new class trial where if you finish it you can like forge the 5pc class set into 1pc were only the 5th bonus will stay but the 5pc will be condense/combined into an ultimate class item that you can slot into that class slot. this way they dont even need to redo the archive sets but add a new content and give players reason to go farm the class 5pc sets.

the slots can also be called "path of calling". like its not just class set but a special slot. like an special talent slot. collect 5pc of items/sets and forge them into: "fishing rod" - talent for fisher (get 1 more fish per hook). "spatula" - talent for cooks (chance to cook provision with extra effects), of course "dragon horn"- dragonknight tallent (5pc bonus of the class set). the possibilities will be endless! (i mean "infinite" lol)

6:24 I love how much effort you put into these videos. And I know how much time this kind of quality takes. However, we were more than 5 minutes into this video before. You finally mentioned what the problem was. That extreme amount of time made this whole thing feel like it was either click bait. Or you were just needlessly delaying to increase your view time

Back when High Isle was about to come out, I was a biit surprised and saddened by a card game being a thing in a chapter about knights kinda, I had a little stream of consciousness idea, about expanding on solo pvp and making dueling a less useless activity - knightly orders tournaments... Rewarding a new gear piece - medal, which can be upgraded with ribbons, essentially making it a one-piece multiple custom bonuses set. The trick is you'll have to work every tournament to keep it (or upgrade/downgrade to a better/lesser version). I guess class thing can fit into it well. Like, your order would be determined by your class, and the main medal bonus improves your class abilities, power determind by total amount of wins you scored in a tournament, and other traditional bonuses you get by getting to choose a desired ribbon after moving up a league every couple of wins. I know it sounds very messy rn, but, hey, I am not getting paid to figure it all out, I'm sure if a couple of pros got into it, they could turn it into something great...

ESO can also have combine system. Where you can combine different pieces of armor, weapons, jewelry and mythical. Making a unique build! Imagine combining false gods with spriggan or ring of the pale order with oak soul or pillar of nirm! That would make the game more interesting and bring back old players. Also give new players a chance to experience a new ESO! I really want to know, do think my idea is good or bad? Please share your comments.

I had an idea. How about rewarding a maxed out sticker book for an item set? When you max out an item set, you get the ability to produce a mythic that has that set’s five-item bonus. You could also make a bound mythic for crafted items if you have 9 traits.

As many issues as I have with black desert, the alchemy stone slot is actually a good idea, a separate gear slot with powerful effects that takes a consumable to keep it on. I believe something like that, in line with what you described would be a good call. I miss 3 piece sets, like the one that used to be in crypt of hearts, and I remember when they updated craglorn and they brought the 3 piece sets up in power, it was Soo underwhelming they just converted them into 5 piece sets, just to nerf them. Idk, I don't take the game too seriously anymore, but it has always seemed pretty limiting on how you can actually approach things.

I have been thinking something similar for years as well. I've been playing since the tech demo that took place on BleackRock and the game does need (IMO) some sort of trinket or UNIVERSAL slott that can be used for special things or damn near anything the player wants with the obvious bonus being the new things that are meant to be in this slott. If your build is strong enough already, maybe you would just prefer a stronger item buff that acted like certain champion nodes that you cannot slott or, something simple that helps you maneuver tamriels overworld faster. There are endless opportunities for this addition.

In addition i've always thought the idea of a slott that you get when you beat the story and get your soul back, that worked abit like a skill that had....powerful effects added to the character that we could change on the fly. What I mean is, think like a bonus that acts like a trait but for your character that you can unlock with conditions as you play the game (as an insentive to do old content or explore) and it becomes stronger overtime as you play. Things like, 5% of healing done to yourself is added as a damage shield. Or, broken damage shields add 10-20% of their max cap as invulnerability duration if broken by an enemy (ie 6000 shields might be .6 to 1.2 seconds of invulnerability)

I have been saying this for years for the mythique, it really damage the impact of the monster set, u have to choose now, that would be awsome if they added cape witch is the item slot for mythique and you would still use the monster set. What u said would be awsome having this in our build option. I would call this a token and you could slot it on ur skill tree. Also we could really make it in sub classes if u can choose ur main category (assassination, Shadow and Siphon) and still have the chance to add 3 small token that would either buff a skill or add special effect The Drainer sub class could be All damage heal you for 10% of damage dealt and then u have 3 other option like ''when you crit, it fully heal you'' '' Excess healing from this effect convert into extra crit damage'' '' While you are being heal by a siphon skill and you are under 50% health, gain a shield"". You would have to farm this only in archive and u might have more than one option for ur main token for every category but u can only choose one from them.

They could add in three charm slots where the charms go and show up on the belt. This would allow for three five piece sets or a mix of a monster set, a mythic, and two five piece sets that would open a door for far more unique builds.

Biggest issues preventing me returning are the animation cancelling thing and lack of overland difficulty. Those are just my personal gripes though. Itemisation probably could be better but recently I've been playing guild wars 2 and I think ESO's itemisation is much better. That being said. Your idea kind of made me think of the system Destiny 2 introduced which was classes having Aspects and Fragments. You could only equip two aspects at a time and these had some cool playstyle defining effect (Like modifying one of your abilities, including new animations). Then each aspect gives you a between 1-3 fragment slots. Fragments are like minor effects that you can use to build synergy into your set up.

I like the idea of giving an extra bonus option for each class. I don't see why not, it would be such a simple way to add a little spice to Your build. Your onto something here. That would actually work really well without being TOO disruptive to the current set up. I hope they consider this, it could make theory crafting easier without ruining anything for older builds. I Love it.

I just returned to ESO after 5-ish years and the amount of armor sets was an issue back then. You idea is amazing. Have you submitted this idea directly to Development team? Another idea is to combine sets within of course a criteria of some reason; creating a new set of two existing perhaps choosing the best of 3 stats, then renaming the set; "MarieElena's Noob God Set". Returning to the game after so long is really daunting. After a few days of reintroduction, first place I have to check out is Online builds. This is another issue that can be addressed. Where to obtain these sets is also utterly confusing when just returning. Are there working Add-ons that list where to obtain sets and a scale to progression there in?

I agree with adding an extra gear slot, for further customization, I think it would even make it more playable and fun, they do not need any more set items, and most of the set items are a variation of some of the better sets in the game. I think if they added the gear slot and one more jewelry slot that would even open up more opportunities for customization. More variations of the morphs would also be nice, which would even add more variety.

One extra "class-slot" would be a good idea - i would go for it. What me and many others also like is vampires so a good vampire build that is fully viable on it's own like the Werewolf would be also something i would love to have.

I've been playing since beta and you know what my biggest problem is? Is that nothing ever changes, I don't want WoW-like changes like every patch your character changes almost completely, but new effects, new spells & skill-lines for existing classes would be nice. Also, new character models would help bring more people in. Also, as someone that's SO invested into my main, I wish I could somehow change class, a class change token would be nice.

FF14 is great cuz u can easily change your class aka job and not have to spend any real money to do that. It just a simple click and u switch from like paladin to summoner after you unlock the job through quests.

@@MalcomMalediction I played the hell out of FF14, after a few relics and all jobs maxed -- I realized that it is not the mmorpg for me. It was a good experience, especially the MSQ. But yeah, the job system is the best class system of any MMORPG.

Charm slot like Everquest had. Minimal number of different charms that can be upgraded via questing, resources, crafting, etc. Class specific or not, I guess it's sorta what you were saying anyway. If the did it by class could have 3 options. Defense, offense, healing/sustain each with a different upgradable (morphs?) perk.

My biggest problem in ESO is all the damn farmbots! I am so f’n tired of competing against farmbots for resources! It’s not just beginner zones, I’ve seen bots all over the base game. It’s getting to the point i’m about to speak to a legal team about the TOS and start an investigation into ESO!

they should do like the legendary weapons in GW2 where it requires a lot of work to unlock but you can shange it's stats on the fly when out of combat. that way you don't have to acquire new gear every time a new set is released or so on

At this point, I think that is all ZOS knows how to do, and CAN do, really. They've been hamstrung by the serious limitations of their engine, now, for almost a decade. They could make their lives, and ours, easier, if they just started removing an old set for every new set they add. Oh, and if the set takes like 5 paragraphs to explain how it works, then lets just get rid of the f***ing thing.
