Thanks for this video. I've had on/off esophagitis for at least 18 years. I finally had an endoscopy done 2 years ago and was diagnosed with mild chronic esophagitis suggestive of reflux esophagitis and put on 40 mg of omeprazole daily for 8 weeks. I now just take 20 mg daily. I had some lower GI issues, most likely a GI bug about 3 weeks ago that has been slow to go away, and for about 10 days I've had a flare up of esophagitis symptoms that have been bad- pain in chest, hoarse voice, feels like food is stuck in my chest/throat, belching, bloating, and what feels like gas pains in my back. I worry about esophageal cancer and just hope that's not what's going on. Of course, my anxiety over this is probably making my symptoms worse, and I can't get in to see a GI doc for a month, ugh.
Thanks. It seem as though you have passion for what you do, and for your patients. You are intelligent, and a good teacher. This helped me out a lot. I have been going through this for over a year. GOD IS GOOD IS ALL THAT I CAN SAY. Because I WASN'T supposed to be here. It got rough. God bless. 💜 💚💙
This is excellent advice and the presentation is superb. Folks change your lifestyle, diet, and the company you keep. Walking, jogging, or running is pivotal. In this presentation is vital information for us to sustain survival. I had spine surgery and picked up weight, then coronavirus hit. I’m definitely aware of what is going on. I’ve been in the house since January 30th 2021. I have not been going to a gym because I was trying to avoid Covid. We’re damn if we do, and damn if we don’t. Win some, to win some, to lose some. Don’t become lost with this situation, make the necessary adjustments in your diet, and start exercising. Cut out spicy foods, chocolate, sodas, and coffee immediately. Hard to swallow foods need to go bye bye…🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 don’t suffer, or torture yourself. See a doctor immediately.

Ok anyone else have this post covid. I feel tightness in my throat area down esop. Went to the ENT and they saw swelling. How does it take to heal. I have long haulers
Don't worry so much. Esophagitis takes months to heal. Sometimes 1, 2, or even 3 months depending if you're taking PPIs or other meds to help speed up the healing
@@fromtheraq3898 Don't worry friend esophagitis isn't gonna cause other issues unless you let it go on untreated and if its super severe. Your doctors would let u know if its a severe grade. Esophageal ulcers, Barrett's, etc. are usually complications from not getting it under control. But it takes months for it to heal. Eat an esophageal diet, eat a gerd diet, try Mylanta/H2-blockers/PPIs, follow-up with ur doctors, sleep well, stay hydrated, stay positive, be patient.
Currently dealing with this, I'm taking famotidine 20mg 2x a day, cut out all soda, spicy foods, fried foods etc. And am consuming around 2 ripe bananas twice a day, I chew it up good and let it coat my esophagus, i swear its making it heal faster.
I drank on an empty stomach on New Year’s Eve and got extremely sick, woke up puking and my chest hurt. Now I feel a lump right in the center of my chest just above the top abs and I’m having pain there. That was the only time I’ve drank this year. Is this normal or should I get to the doctor immediately
@@Johnmatrix1_ that's normal. You probably just irritated the mucus membrane in there and you're not used to vaping. It sounds like you might also be dehydrated.
@@iam.introspect8456 yeah bro less than a week and I was good. Just make sure to hydrate and rest. Let your lungs heal first before you smoke anything again. It was scary at first but I just took it day by day.
Same problem with my mother...become so restless...suffering from too much gastritis...can't eat solid foods..sure bcz of covid in January 2021 ...going to AIG hyderabad...get well soon mummy..
So what if a person has a pain in the chest with no acid going into their esophagus, cured GERD two years ago but is still experiencing pain by the sternum area. Is that high cause for concern?
I’m having red spots in back of my mouth n burning in throat always n to guebn mouth of roof burning plz plz help .. is this candida or what ?? Its been 2 yrs now
Can’t someone have two different types of infectious types of medicine? Do you then give them one from each type on the list? Or is there one that will take care of two types?
Its weird couldn't sleep , i swallowed my saliva at night and chest pains started coming then go away, what could it be, i did eat fries laying down without water and went to sleep could it be that?

@@AnilKumar-pv9jd Well it have been over a year for me. It have NOT been fun or pleasant. But I'm hanging in there to the best of my ability. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ of NAZARETH. The name above of ALL names. AMEN.
Thank you for that, I've been having esophageal pain for a long time, generally are very mild, but sometimes it's pretty painful. I was wondering why isn't there directly any treatment for the esophagus, but mostly stomach Acid medications and other pills that's not related to the esophageal. I have been taking these pills for a long time, and it does not treat the esophagus. not easy to treat.

I was given a steroid inhaler to use for my esophagitis, except instead of inhaling it into my lungs, my GI taught me how to puff it into my mouth and swallow it so that it ends up treating the esophagus. It was actually pretty helpful!
@@nikkyshairades9078 well... I wish I could say that. It never completely went away, but from the time of my diagnosis until probably last year, so about 18 years later, it only happened on rare occasions where I swallowed a pill without enough water or I ate something dry like bread, chicken, or steak without enough water. It would flare up then and hurt like hell but that was maybe 1 time per year. Recently though, I got Covid, and it came back with a vengeance. I couldn't get it to stop spasming and I was in so much pain for a week. I couldn't eat or drink anything. With some meds, rest, and patience, it eventually went away. That was last month. I'm having to change my diet and take proton pump inhibitors in order to prevent it from flaring up again. I'm sorry if you have to deal with this crap too. It's truly the worst. Btw, mine is eosinophilic esophagitis. Because it's EoE, it's basically an allergic reaction. The steroid inhaler helped get rid of some of the white blood cell buildup in my throat. If yours is EoE, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
@@nikkyshairades9078 This is only given if you have EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis) which is an allergy disorder. It doesn't work if you're esophagitis is caused from gerd. Inflammation from EoE is from eosinophil immune cells attacking ur esophagus, the steroids supress the eosinophils in ur esophagus when swallowed.
Question?? I had a biopsy for red spots on the maxillary roof of my mouth. Results came back and it was a mouth fungus. Can thrush or mouth funguses spread to the throat and cause sore throat??
I take a antihistamine pill to fall asleep. But I don't like to drinking a full glass of water with it because then I will be woken up to pee at all hours of the night. So now I know what is causing my inflamed esophagus flair up at 4AM. There are a lot of other things I do that causes this inflammation. I eat them them because I think they are good for me but they are not.
@@nikkyshairades9078 no. You could be mistaking it for phlegm. What exactly is phlegm or mucus? It's a mixture of things. One test to show that you have candida is if you spit in a glass of water after you wake up and if the saliva hasn't separated or like kind of broken down and it's still like intact like a snot that's a sign of candida overgrowth.
Esophagitis takes months to heal unfortunately. Eat an Esophageal Diet and/or GERD Diet. Meaning no acidic food[garlic/onion/citrus fruit/coffee/vinegar/fruit juice], no spicy food, no dry abrasive foods[crackers/chips/nuts], no high fat foods[cheese/fried food/whole milk/butter]. Soft foods only[mashed potatoes, pudding, cottage cheese, soups, purees, yogurt, cream of wheat, bananas]. Eat slowly. Chew your food well. More saliva helps your stomach digest food easier.Take at least 30min. to consume a meal. Stop eating 3 hours before bedtime. A fuller belly can cause contents to wash up during sleep. Drink lots of water. You don't want a dry esophagus and the mucus needs more water! Get enough sleep! Cells regenerate, resting is healing! Try not talking for as much as possible for a few weeks and never raise your voice. Try liquid antacids/H2-Blockers/PPIs. Even if your BMI is normal, if you have enough visceral belly fat that your belly protrudes, lose weight. Acid can wash up from the pressure of the fat. Sleep on your left side or at an incline. The shape of your stomach makes it so acid has a harder time coming up on your left side. Eat multiple small meals instead of 3 regular sized ones. Sit up straight, avoid bending. Never eat lying down. Try Licorice tea, Slippery Elm, & Marshmallow Root. Slippery Elm when mixed in water forms a mucus-y texture which coats and protects the esophagus from further irritation. Regularly consume probiotics. NO CARBONATED DRINKS. NO CAFFEINE. If pain doesn't get better, seek a GI for more testing.
I've been dealing with gastritis on and off for 2 years now, right now I've been up all night, my esophagus is flared up, if i take my seroquil and trazadone at night, my esophagus flares up and gives me anxiety its awful, usually sends me to the er, but they can't do much its a nightmare.. pulsating.. jackhammer.. edit: right now im doing ok but I have thrush in my mouth and throat from my steroid inhaler... its always something 🙄
Remember my heart goes out for you, seriously. I been dealing with this for 2 1/2 year and other health issues . What is sad is when the doctors doesn't explain anything to the patients.
@@debbiec6216 ive lost hope in Dr's, my gi, you make an appointment and..... well we will see you in 4 months... im like ok maybe I'll make it till then, whaT a joke

@@debbiec6216 right right even worse like I take adavan when my anxiety is really bad I get 5 a month from my Dr. .... benzos littlery take my anxiety away, then the next day I have it 3x worse it makes no sense, post acute withdraws from taking a single dose of adavan, my brain is just on the fence all the time, like if I go somewhere, at the drop of the dime, shopping at walmart, I'll feel like im going to die... literally and this happens often, I'm a grown man, that's not right its hard on me to go through that, oral candanisis, in my throat, chest clinching up, neck clinching up, hot and cold sweats all the time, it's like im on thin ice with my mental health all the time even with meds, I have medication interactions ALL THE TIME, meds just don't absorb right in my stomach, I feel alone bc it's so hardcore
Too much falling-down water is my problem along with ibuprofen for a mild cold. Well at least if I cut out beer I will lose some weight ahead of cycling season.
Acid reflux is caused by too little acid so the last thing you want are those pumps or anti acids killing what good guys you do have left. Have to build you immune system with lifestyle changes and also make your stomach more acid. A lot of times this is cause by nutritional dufficiencies so take all 90 ESSENTIAL nutrient supplements
@@zackcam26 most doctors are idiots and have ex wives and mortgage due and their kids college tuition. We have the most expensive healthcare system and rank like 50th in longevity why would you listen to most doctors smh
@@zackcam26 most doctors doesnt even treat the root cause of your problem just manage the symptoms lol. Also most doctors dont even check your stomachs ph. they just give you meds. This guy is right low acid causes heartburn and all these problems
@@zackcam26 there are plenty of studies are done . Google it ! Go to pub med . It’s a simple test to see if you have high or low acid ! Why can’t there be low acid? Your reply is stupid ! Of course many people have low acid as well as to much . Just assuming it’s from to much is bad medicine practice. Especially giving medicine without knowing . Typical main stream medicine.
