In this video, we will see how to make ESP32-CAM PIR Motion Detector with Photo Capture and save it to the microSD card.
During the video, I will share the esp32-cam pinout, esp32 PIR motion sensor circuit diagram, esp32 PIR sensor program, and how the esp32-cam deep sleep works. So you can easily make this esp32 cam project at home.
Required Components for ESP32 camera motion detection,
1. ESP32-CAM (AI Thinker)
2. PIR Motion Sensor Module
3. BC547 NPN Transistor
4. 220ohm, 1k, 10k Resistor.
5. LED
6. FTDI 232 USB to Serial Interface board
7. 5 volt DC supply

After watching the complete video you can easily design the esp32 cam PIR motion detection circuit with photo capture. Here I have placed the motion detector circuit in front of the main door. So when someone enters or exits esp32 cam will take the picture and save it to the microSD card. Due to the deep sleep mode of ESP32 cam, the circuit consumes very low power.

Bro..ur genius hats off to u...🙏..I would like to request u too make some cheap device which can be kept in car engine bay( stationary).. Which can detect rats(motion detection) entering car & spray a pepper spray or shoot bb bullet or electrifying( danger because engine area) only by giving command through mobile remotely....I mean when rat enters to food kept in car engine area, the device have to detect by motion camera & has to send alaram message to owner..owner by watching it through camera & its position has to give command to device which should shoot rat by bb ball gun or spray pepper remotely...because all other traps poisons sprays have failed in world

I love the project you did. But I would be interested in a way to view the pictures stored on the card without removing the card from the camera. I want to view the pictures using wi-fi. Do you think it's possible ?

Very nice video, well-done! As I ponder a similar project I wonder why the transistor switch? There is one or more videos that show the PIR tied directly to 5+ (Vin) and a D pin (D22). Any thoughts on this? Cheers!

Bro our code got verified after making some changes cause it was showing many errors ...idk why But now it's verified the error: can't connect to ESP 32 no serial data received. Is showing help us we need to complete it ASAP

Thanks for sharing this project. Can you please do another video to send these sd card saved images to Blynk, Telegram or Gmail . Sending specific image on specific gpio pin trigger, as this option would enable esp32 cam module to send saved images on different trigger events, that can be used for different applications. Awaiting your earliest response.

When the transistor turns on the GPIO-13 is connected with GND through the transistor.

Exactly, I don’t understand this either, why cant we connect the signal wire from the PIR directly to the ESP32 board, and trigger a photo when the pin goes high?🤷🏼‍♂️

@@ineffige I think it will work. The transistor is probably just something that someone started with and then everyone followed along. I have used the PIR sensor connected directly to a Arduino board to trigger a LED. It’s the same principle really.

Hello and thank you for sharing this project. I reproduced it and it works, except for one thing: it sends me a picture every about 15 seconds independently of the PIR trigger. I tested the PIR alone, the output stays at 5V and when there is motion it goes down to just under 0.2 V. I assume that these are good TTL levels. When I connect the ESP32, the voltage at GPIO13 is about 3.7V, and when I create motion (red LED blinks) the voltage at GPIO drops to about 1.8V - I believe that this is too high for a TTL low. This makes me think it is the reason I get pictures send regularly, because that pin is always read as HIGH. Please, give me your thoughts. If my diagnosis is right, how do I make Pin 13 go low? In this project I have used active high pir sensor. So when it detects any motion the output pin will become high. But you are using active low pir sensor. Connect the pir output pin with GPIO 13. And check.

Can you please help us make a wildlife camera that'll take such pictures but without the red LED flash (it irritates the elephants) and send a notification by LoRaWAN to one of the forest dept anti poaching camps? Especially if the unit is moved? Of course, it will need to be housed inside an all weather casing, with battery, and optional input from solar panel. If we can also record temperature, humidity, etc periodically, that would be awesome too.

I really appreciate it !!! but I have a question, esp23 cam when I turn on it takes a photo without detecting any motion. every time when I power up it will capture a photo and after taking the first image it will work normally. I want the cam to take an image only when there is motion.
