I've been working with the Esp8266 for years now, using both the NodeMcu board and the ESP-12E module, and I still found this video very interesting. Can you point me to some datasheet showing that the I/O pins are 5V tolerant? Every site mentions 3.6V as maximum (could be for VCC, but no mention of 5V tolerance for I/O)
You are right; officially, on paper in the datasheet, no. But test after test shown it is and I think there was even allegedly an unofficial "official" reply from Espressif CEO saying it is 5v tolerant . Give it a google.
@@MrDIYca Just because it didn't release magic smore doesn't mean it won't in the future. The Espressif FAQ states max. 3,6 Volt and I've been unable to find *official* information about the 5V tollerance.
Because it was released on 08/26/2016 ... aaand this is how fake news starts :) On a serious note, I don't know. Maybe it is their internal model numbering at Espressif.
May be I think 8bit processor 2 SCL, SDA used for software purpose 6 there is no flash memory so we are giving external memory by using 6 pins 6- 2× USB PINs
@@MrDIYca thx, I'll try doing it to ground. Having a couple issues. Had a friend say GPIO0 shouldn't be soldered to Vcc, just a button for flashing program, so gonna implement that and then try this.
