If you look at the top players according to the advanced stat PIE (Player Impact Estimate) there isn't a single American in the top 5 (Jokic, Doncic, Gilgeous-Alexander, Antetokounmpo, Sabonis) Now, two of those men are black, one European, one Canadian, but 3 out of the top 5 in probably the most important advanced stat being white Europeans definitely threatens some people. The 4 main reasons why it's harder to score in EU - smaller court which affects the amount of space you have to attack or defend - 8 minute shorter games - no 3 second paint rule - no hand check rule These alone make a huge difference. Maybe NBA is better, but euroleague is harder

Luka is currently 4th after Embiid is out of the race. But he will only go up if Dallas rises in the standing to maybe 5th or 4th in the West. All other MVP candidates are in the top 4 spots (Jokic, SGA, Giannis, Tatum).

What was weird about it was that Luka’s 70 game was easily the most impressive 70 piece since Kobe’s 81. He did so on a whopping 76% from the field, he won with clutch buckets, and it wasn’t a bunch of free throws. He ended the game with like two or three straight and-one’s. He’s the one guy in the modern era that I’d trust could score 70 in any era 😂
People underestimate just how bad the Dallas roster is. That team sucks balls, except for Luka. Irving is good, don't get me wrong, but he's missed a lot of games, and it is Luka who is carrying the Mavs. So the NBA has a problem, because no way is Luka going to get MVP while his team is struggling just to make the playoffs, even though he may very well be the best player in the league this year. So yeah, they are downplaying him intentionally, I think.

I'll explain the hate for luka. there are 3 parts to it. 1) he plays the same position as LBJ, and is on pace to shatter every record LBJ holds. he has a higher scoring average, he scored more in his rookie year, he is a better playmaker, and a better rebounder. Luka is a mirror into the fraud that is LBJ's claim to the "crown". Because when this all settles out, the "king" will have luka, a guy who played as a contemporary in the "king's" era, who clowned him up one side and down the other. This type of hate for luka started at the end of his rookie year when they started to notice his numbers were better then LBJ's. It's the same type of hate Carmelo got when the media awarded James the rookie of the year trophy though Carmello had a better rookie year. I’m really glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that there was almost no validation of Lukas 73 just mere days after embid. The complete reticence from the wider media circles showed me something was up, but not sure how to explain it. Or maybe I knew but not allowed to say. Same happened when he destroyed the Suns and the media was only talking about how bad the suns choked.
