I was just about to say this. I like that he pauses the video. Makes a point, then lets it continue. Also, Russ is proven in the PLAYOFFS! That’s an attribute a lot of QBs like LaMar, Dak, Tony Romo haven’t really proven. So fields we love him and the upside, but why start him over a guy who we know will be good post season. Especially when we only need a game manager, and to bring the deep ball back.

The Fields apologists out in droves are always fascinating. The media love is too. It's interesting to note that the media and fans were saying that it would take a 1st or 2nd round pick at least t trade for him but then when it really came down to it the owners and GM of REAL NFL teams said no thank you. People who actually know what they are looking at when watching him such as a Kurt Warner say that the tape shows Fields can't process and can't make reads. His record and stats speak for themselves in today's NFL designed to make QB easy he could barely complete 60% of his throws and took sacks at record rates. Use the excuse of the Bears all you want but the mere fact that when Fields went down and they put in an undrafted true rookie straight out of D2 football and the offense was every bit as functional and often looked more functional and in fact won games at a better rate says all you need to know.

I think Russell Wilson is Pittsburghs best chance to contend for the Super Bowl. It is clear the Steelers are tooling the offense around Wilson, and secured Fields as an insurance policy. Wilson beat the Chiefs in Denver, and that was no small feat, considering the Broncos have lost to the Chiefs EIGHT seasons straight, SIXTEEN times in a row… Denvers defense was NOT as good as the Steelers last season, nor was their offense nearly as talented or capable as the Steelers were, even despite the trio of quarterbacks they had. The Steelers have undoubtedly upgraded their offense with WILSON at the helm, plus other new additions, and with an improved defense, the Chiefs and the AFC title game could be a realistic destination… 🤔

You are correct. People keep saying Russ is declined. No evidence of that. They say “Justin Fields’s ceiling is higher,” but when you ask a pointed question, nobody can answer it. Here’s the question: what can Justin Fields do now, or what is he expected to do in the future, that Russ either hasn’t done or cannot do? You’ll hear crickets, because they’re just spouting a cliche they hear someone on television say. Those people are mostly idiots!

All of the "Justin can sit a year" talk is nonsense. If Justin Fields sits, then hes gone as an unrestricted free agent after the season. Teams that faced Justin Fields twice a year like Detroit & Minnesota will have a bidding war over Fields because they know who & what he is. This is why the Bears GM made sure he held onto Fields until NFC teams couldnt wait around any longer to fill their QB vacancies.
@JWLSports

@@JWLSports Bull**** Detroit & Minnesota will consider Justin Fields an upgrade over the Quarterback moves they were forced to make because the Bears General Manager never made Fields available while he went through his "process." "Process" = Force NFC teams to fill their Quarterback positions before making Justin Fields available to prevent Fields from haunting the Bears General Manager's dumbass decision. There's far too much available information for you to make senseless statements like this. Google Lions Head Coach's statement on Justin Fields being traded out of the NFC North - then tell me "they didn't want him." Google the many articles where Justin Jefferson is basically begging the Vikings to acquire Justin Fields - then tell me "they don't want him "

In the whole NFL ?! Nah lol. His best case scenario is to be the starter and show more flashes of being a great thrower of the football. If he can show that with his INSANE ability to run from the QB position, THEN you could argue closer to that all around. But right now, no. Not at all

@@jctslicelol, I thought I could take you seriously. Stronger arm than Baker? Wild. He holds the longest and 3rd longest completion in NFL history. Even Josh Allen commented how strong his arm was. He even tied Allen in the combine for the fastest thrown ball. Fields hasn’t done a single thing to demonstrate that he’s even franchise QB material, let alone good enough to unseat a guy like Russ. *Justin Fields’s 3-Year Career Stats (advantaged metrics in boldface* Pass attempts: 958 Pass completions: 578 Completion%: 60.3% TD-INT: 40-30 Passing yards: 6,674 Passer rating: 82.3 *Rushing yards: 2,220* (vs. 1,327) *Rushing yards/yr: 740* (vs. 442) *Rushing TDs: 14* (vs. 7) *Rushing attempts: 356* (vs. 245.5) *Rushing y/a: 6.2* (vs. 5.4) Sacks: 135 Sacks/yr: 45 Yards lost: 908 Yards lost per sack: 6.7 Fumbles: 38 (11 Lost) On pace for 152 fumbles over 12 seasons with 44 lost. Career 4th quarter passer rating: 53 _______________________________________________ *Russ’s average over a 3-year period (based on his career statistics. Advantaged metrics in boldface)* *Pass attempts: 1,416* (vs. 958) *Pass completions: 917* (vs. 578) *Completion%: 64.7%* (vs. 60.3%) *TD-INT: 84-26* (vs. 40-30) *Passing yards: 10,913* (vs. 6,674) *Passer rating: 100.0* (vs. 82.3) Rushing yards: 1,327 Rushing yards/yr: 442 Rushing TDs: 7 Rushing attempts: 245.25 Rushing Y/A: 5.4 *Sacks: 132* (vs. 135) *Sacks/yr: 44* (vs. 45) *Yards lost: 866* (vs. 908) *Yards lost per sack: 6.5* (vs. 6.7) *Fumbles: 25.75 (8 Lost)* (vs 38 w/11 lost) *Career 4th quarter passer rating: 104* (vs. 53) Fields has a slight advantage in rushing. Russ is superior in every other department. That small rushing advantage isn’t nearly enough to compensate for Russ’s superiority as a passer, especially if we discuss 4th quarter metrics. If wediscount Russ’s Denver years, Russ’s 3-year average stats would be better than Fields’s by an even larger margin, even if we include two injury years in Seattle (2016 and 2021) that produced outlier statistics. While both take a lot of sacks, Russ has taken them due to bad/inconsistent O-Lines and pure stubbornness on his part. Fields takes them more because he isn’t a great reader of defenses. His O-Lines have been better than Russ’s. _______________________________________________ *Russ’s Career Statistics* Pass attempts: 5,665 Pass completions: 3,668 Completion%: 64.7% TD-INT: 334-106 Passing yards: 43,653 Passer rating: 100.0 Rushing yards: 5,307 Rushing yards/yr: 442 Rushing TDs: 29 Rushing attempts: 981 Rushing y/a: 5.4 Sacks: 527 Sacks/yr: 43.9 Yards lost: 3,464 Yards lost per sack: 6.57 Fumbles: 103 (32 Lost) Career 4th quarter passer rating: 104 *Keep in mind that Russ’s career statistics include two subpar years in Denver.* Both years skew Russ’s stats negatively, especially 2022, when he threw just 16 TD passes and missed two games.

@@JWLSports: Mike “Greeny” Greenberg is out of his mind. Notice how he keeps saying, “Nothing against Russ.” He has been called out for showing bias and looking like he has an agenda against Russ. Those ESPN commentators are crazy. The Steelers had access to both QBs at season’s end and could’ve easily gone after Justin Fields but targeted Russ because he was their priority. They were prepared to proceed with a QB room with Russ and Pickett. Fields had long made his preference for Pittsburgh known, and the Steelers already knew about that. They weren’t interested in him, even though the price was already low. And Greeny is also ignoring that the price was insanely low for a reason. People can cite Russ being cut, but most people don’t know that the Broncos wanted to keep Russ for another year. He refused to defer his injury guarantee to allow them to keep him without the risk of paying him $100M for one season. Russ knew refusing to defer was his ticket out of Denver, so he refused. In essence, Russ ostensibly dumped the Broncos! No, Payton wasn’t a big fan of Russ the person, but he would be coached Russ for another year…this time without trying to tank! The Steelers wanted Russ so badly that they told him to get early permission from the Broncos to speak with other teams, which was granted, so they could sign Russ before other teams had a chance to go after him. AND THERE WERE OTHER TEAMS LOOKING AT RUSS! Minnesota Las Vegas Atlanta Tampa Chicago Washington NYG Miami (possibly) Every team that might have either needed a new QB due to vacancy or has a young QB needing a mentor would’ve been interested in Russ. And if the new Seahawks coach hadn’t liked Geno, it’s possible that Seattle might have gone after him. Many Seahawks fans wanted him back! The Bears knew about it too. The Bears only found the Steelers to be an attractive trade partner AFTER Russ signed there. They wanted Fields on his next team’s bench. Now give it some hard thought as to why that was the case. Think about Caleb. Think about the Bears’ reason for trading Fields instead of keeping him to compete with Caleb. Think about what the Bears wanted to avoid. Hint: it’s what the Steelers are facing right now. The Bears only sent Fields to the Steelers to burry him on the bench. Why? They didn’t want the dumb noise the Steelers are dealing with right now. They certainly didn’t want Fields being QB1 somewhere and creating an artificial buzz over the first few weeks of the 2024 season. That would potentially affect Bears fans who didn’t want Fields traded, and it might negatively impact Caleb Williams’s confidence. The Bears wanted to send Fields somewhere where he would wind up on the bench, and they saw that opportunity when Russ signed with the Steelers. The beauty of it is that Fields had been asking for a trade to the Steelers, so it was good P.R. for the Bears to at least pretend that they were trying to look out for Justin! The truth is that NFL teams are BUSINESSES! Their decision-makers do what’s best for the organizations. Fields is in Pittsburgh because the Bears wanted him on someone’s bench, PERIOD! @DeCurtaRican
@DeCurtaRican 3 месяца назад
But he actually COULD win with that horrible defense. Russ in 2020 in Seattle led a worse defense to a 7-2 record. Sean Payton threw some of those early games, and then notably threw the Lions game and the Patriots game, plus at least one of the final two games of the year - which he did by benching Russ for no good reason. The 2923 Broncos were fully capable of winning 11 or 12 games. Payton didn’t want to! He was tanking at Russ’s expense. Sean Payton threw those early games, and then the Broncos front office had the nerve to ask Russ (try to coerce him, really) to defer his injury guarantee for a year so they could keep him around for the 2024 season without the risk of paying him $100M. Sean Payton should’ve done what he said he would do and designed an offense around Russ’s skills. He didn’t do that, which shows you how lazy he is as a coach. I have less than zero respect for him.

Let’s put it like this: Russ would’ve done more in Chicago over the past three years than Justin did. With Russ, the Bears would’ve been a playoff squad all three years, and they knew it. Thats why they offered the Seahawks everything but their grandmothers’ kidneys to coax the Seahawks into sending Russ to Chicago, and why the Seahawks refused the offer. Russ had the right of final refusal on all trades, but the Bears attempted to trade for Russ and the Seahawks didn’t bite. Guess what QB would’ve theoretically been available as one of the picks from Chicago. Thats right! Justin Fields. The Seahawks didn’t want him then, and they didn’t want him this past winter when the Bears again approached them.

The onus is now on Justin Fields, he has to learn how to read coverage, that's the key to everything, throwing with anticipation, and accuracy would all be cured by Justin reading coverage and reacting quickly & correctly to it to throw to the holes in coverage, the fact that he hasn't yet been able to is the biggest issue with Justin being a starting QB in the league, as a Bears fan I thought if he could just learn to read coverage he'd be a top 5 QB with all of his abilities, but after 3 years, all I hear from him and his fanboys are excuses, well if he can't learn it in Pittsburgh behind Russ, he never will. Justin's a good kid, but know he's the only one accountable for his future in the NFL.

Justin has never been given a chance in a winning situation. Just looking at what Chicago has done shows that they see the error of their ways. Josh allen didn't arrive untill he had a good number one and he had a great defense and decent offensive line. Russ has a higher floor. Russ is on his way out. He met with a few teams before Pittsburgh picked him up because NO ONE wanted to grant him QB1 and that's including the Giants. Fields also had 3 to 4 teams calling for him but HE chose Pittsburgh. It's inevitable. I've listened to your arguments regarding J Fields, and it's obvious your disdain for the 25 year old. It's easy to speak on Russ history as a veteran. I respect what he's accomplished. You conveniently failed to mention J Fields #1 Qb out of high school to beat out Trevor Lawrence, who was around 30 miles apart from one another in Georgia. After leaving Georgia to attend The Ohio State B, losing to T Lawrence (Clemson) then beating him his senior year for the National title. Goes to the rebuilding Bears who doesn't have a frontline or weapons. Was under two Head Coaches and two Offensive Coordinators within 3 years and now this will make his 3rd HC and 3rd OC, meanwhile the Bears now decided to try and place Caleb Williams in a much better situation by supplying him weapons by trading during THIS off-season. Russ can't see over the frontline because he's 5'9 (they give you two inches). Drew Brees was at least 6'0 and can see over the line. Fields situation is miles better in Pittsburgh than Chicago. Stability! A staff who knows what to look for in players and how to squeeze water from a rock. Pittsburgh is oy using Russ as a buffer for the long-term option they see in Fields. But what I'm going to do, is eep your page in my pocket. When this season plays out and Russ is sitting, Fields is playing (playing well), I'm going to make a video with you in it! 😂

Where’s the evidence of his waning athletic ability? I want measurables! I can cite evidence that he’s as sharp as ever, and he can still run. He rushed for 340 yards in 15 games last season on mostly non-designed runs, while playing for a cua h who was trying to tank and an O-Line that couldn’t block up a toilet half the time. Russ could easily rush for 500-600 yards this season. And his arm is still one of the best in the game. Look at his efficiency stats. He still has a deadly deep-ball and is still as accurate as ever too. He had a passer rating of about 140 on deep passing in tight windows. He was top-5 and top-10 in several passing metrics last season, and he made 4 of the 5 least probable pass completions f the score season league wide. No Mahomes, no Allen, no Stafford, No anyone else even close to him. Purdy had the other pass. So, where’s your EVIDENCE that Russ has lost something?

I’m trying to picture the coaches saying, “Fields wasn’t good enough to start during the less challenging part of the schedule, but yeah, let’s throw him in during the meat of the schedule and see what he’s got!” Are you serious?! 😒 Fields needs to worry about holding onto his #2 position, because Kyle Allen is no scrub. Right now, K. Allen is better than Fields. All Fields has is athletic ability, and the slight athletic advantage he has over Russ isn’t nearly enough to compensate for all of the other advantages Russ has over him. Russ even rushed for 340 yards last season in 15 games with the lowly Broncos on mostly non-designed runs. In this offense, look for him to get near 600 yards!

Your scenario ignores that Russell Wilson because of his age may no longer have the skill set to do what he has in the past or what is needed of him in this offense. Russell Wilson is no longer a running threat. Maybe that is why others are on the Fields bandwagon because of the dual threat that he is. It may not be how you want to see a offense run but it is very difficult for defenses to keep a offense like that in check. The biggest issue for either qb is scoring. Steelers had one of the lowest scoring offenses last year and Fields is not as good in the red zone.

Imo, everyone can see Russell is cooked. its why the Seahawks moved on, its why the Broncos moved on, its why he didnt get a LTD with Steelers. I think the writings on the wall and Justin is there to step into the starting role while Russ takes a backseat at some point. Who knows when? Well, the Steelers were smart to make the 4th rd pick conditional on Justin playing 51% of the season... with their bye week in week 9, they can start justin in week 10 and still only give up a 6th

I hear what you're saying. But I think "cooked" is a little extreme.

@@JWLSports "cooked" is really just the operative word since for so long the constant phrase with Russ was "Let him cook"
