I wish I had this when I was starting out, nice job! One issue I ran into starting out was having 5g of grind retention and I would pull one shot and adjust but I didn’t relive a bit of coffee was leftover from the last setting, doh!
Thanks for adding your thoughts! Grind retention will be discussed in the next episode, the mazzer mini is pretty bad for it too especially with the dosing hopper too!
I'm hardly new to home espresso brewing, but something that I've always been curious about is pour time calculation when using a pre-infusion. Say you have a 5 second pi, for 5 seconds water, without pressure, is added to the top of the puck. Others have insisted that you don't adjust this in the pour time calculation, so if you're trying to stick to the 30sec rule, no additional time should be factored in. To me this doesn't make sense. PI is to simply help in achieving a more even water flow over the coffee, but doesn't actually interact with the content of the coffee until pressure is applied, so in my example I allow for 35sec. Why shouldn't I?
Hey I’d like to try freshly roasted coffee from you. What do you recommend for a bold/strong shot that is chocolatey and sweet but not too acidic (used for a milk drink) ?
Hi brilliant videos- Im new to coffee, only drinking for about 2 years and just go my first home coffee machine , have ordered a good grinder but it hasn't arrived. I have a question- I always do two shots for me and hubby- am I correct that one shot is about 7-8gs two shots 18gs or so? An if so if two shot in portafilter that should take about 26 seconds or so?
Yep basically correct there depending on your espresso machine's basket. Most double shot baskets are somewhere between 18-22g depending on what fits well. Time wise 26-32 seconds is a good starting point to aim for.
@@brewbudsclub I'm having a serious problem, I bought a $100 espresso 3in1 machine and for 15 days it gave me amazing coffee wether it was small or large, didnt matter, it was great, then it started to taste like chlorine and somehow bitter even when I always use boiled and filtered water. I managed to clean the machine with vinegar and water and after rinsing it around 4 times with water the chlorine and the bitterness (and the vinegar taste) left the machine, however, capsules are tasting acidic and decaf grains have no taste at all. What the hell is wrong with the machine? I already reset its settings. I hope you can advice somehow, there is no cleaning procedures for that coffee machine, not even in its manual.
