Most definitely Zulu case. Been using them for my former 11” and now my 12” and just great. Yes a bit of expense, but my iPad is way more valuable to risk with a cheaper one
I just got the Zugu Alpha for my 12.9. I'm a student and use it only as a tablet without a keyboard. The two things I noticed right away was how much heavier it makes the device and that edge that sticks up around the screen. The edge has a potential to get annoying during long periods of use with the pencil but I've not used it enough to report back. First impression though is that I do wish that edge was more flush. I do like the ten stand settings, soft lining, pencil storage and short drop protection.
The comparison is helpful as far as it went, but two other things that should be considered are the weight of the case and how it feels when you hold it up in portrait mode. Normally there is a trade-off between degree of protection and weight, and for some people, the weight is more important. This is especially true in a snap-in case, as one is unlikely to take it out of such a case to make it easier to hold up when reading.
Thanks for the video it helped. Next time would you be able to show comparisons with the iPad in the case and see how flush the lid sits to the edges, as well as snow the different angles and how sturdy the stand is will drawing/ writing and hand weight. Does it wobble it not etc. Overall video still help me decide to pick the Zugu. Thumbs up for the video 👍🏽
You made the ESR Sentry case look bad when it was just as good as the alpha case. The magnets are strong and doesn't fall like what you says. It also works on the fridge you just have to open up the flap and magnet it to the refrigerator. The angles are strong and also made the iPad protected. All these at a very big gap for the price with the alpha case. I'd choose esr as it was cheap and very pretty. The pencil can also be slided easily to the pocket at the back and doesn't easily fall off when magnet to the side. Idk about you but I also tried for myself and these all works.
@@aimiharu5854 it does charge/pair. But it doesn't charge when I put on an apple pencil sleeve because the ESR Sentry has this shaped place for the pencil and when I use a pencil sleeve, the pencil still attaches to the magnet side but won't charge since the magnet of the pencil (with a case) and the case itself does not touch
Can a type C hub be connected to the iPad with this cover on? Does the bottom thickness of this cover around the type c port allow the hub’s pin to get inserted into the port?
Hey man great video I just had a question about zugu case. I heard that it's difficult to put on the iPad if I use a screen protector or tempered glass for screen protection, it is true?
Thank you sir! I was just about to pull the trigger on the ESR, you made me change my mind and saved me time and money. Cheers from Melbourne Australia
Hi, just want to leave my experience that may help someone. I ended up geting esr case (zugu isnt available in my country and i didn't want to wait + the price difference was pretty significant). I don't know if it's updated version, but the magnets are great, i can't knock ipad from any position, it holds ipad pro 12.9 on fridge pretty securely, nothing is loose or flimsy, apple pencil is easy to insert but not too loose. I wish there is microfiber inside the case, but other than that i am very happy with it and its really great deal for the price.
I got both the Zugu Muse (Alpha?) and ESR Sentry for 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. Both great protection in my opinion. Both covers close kind of loose but stay closed. ESR is a little more awkward to open as It doesn’t have the also awkward tab the Zugu has (leaves a pathetically thin TPU lip over the speaker port). Also the side slot for the pencil leaves a flimsy edge on BOTH. Kind of annoying. The ESR magnets are large and do not recess into the case like the Zugu so they make the closed back kind of not flat when placed down. Wish there was a TPU hard case that just didn’t have the pencil slot. JEtech has a great one for standard IPad 7 8 and 9. Wish they made a similar one for 12.9.
on Amazon Germany I found the ESR Sentry at around 25/30 € and on Amazon Italy at around 20 Edit: it arrived! It’s absolutely beautiful, I love it !!!✨💕
Dot 2227 me too, the esr makes it very heavy, but i do not find much about weight, but i think the zugu is about 100g less (480 zugu to 580 esr ). The esr is not bad, how about yours on the pen side, mine fits not 100% on the pen charging area, it has a bit gab, very small, how is yours?
Hey everybody, I always bring together my macbook pro and my ipad in the same bag, so mainly they are always close to each other. Do you think zugu's magnetic case will be a problem for my macbook??? I mean it is ok that all this devices, chargers ecc to be close to a strong magnet?? Thanks for the video and answers :))
3:35 I am sold, Zugu clear winner. Here in 2023 Uk the ESR is 63 pounds while the Zugu is 75 pounds if you go for black. That's 92 dollars for zugu and 77 dollars for ESR ( FUCK INFLATION and the GOV). But yeah Zugu is just better and was my original go to but then I saw the ESR was similar yet cheaper. But the price dif just doesn't cut for the quality.
I have the magic keyboard and I want a case thats protective but I want to be easily able to take the ipad out so I can attach it to the magic keyboard. Would you recommend either of these cases?
I’m a proud owner of the ESR sentry case (due to the Zugu being wayyyy to expensive in Australia) let me tell you, it’s impossible to take the case in and out.
Question: Can you comment on the stretchy stylus holder in the back? I noticed that after some use, the fabric seems to get worn down and doesn't hold its shape when the stylus is not in there. Is it the same for the Zugu?
Thank you so much for this review. Have had my eye on the zugu case for about a week now. You answered most of the questions that it had. My only question that you didn’t address is comparing the angles for typing and note taking
Yes, ESR sentry is a Zugu rip off , yes it’s not as great quality wise , there’s micro fibre only on the front flap, the magnets are not better than zugu etc , but, it’s $40 in Indian amazon and the zugu case is not available in most countries, plus it’s $70 ( delivery & taxes extra) For its lower price, the esr does a good job. It’s VFM and easier on the pocket. Hardly anyone sticks their iPad to a refrigerator or plays frisbee with it. It’s an expensive device and most people are very careful with the iPad. Bottom line, don’t make so much fuss, get the ESR, it’s good and does the job and also don’t spend so much extra on a damn case.
Exactly. For people like us who can't afford zugu or it's not available in our country, it's better to buy the ESR and save the remaining bucks for something else (a bag for ipad, for example).
Price is certainly different. You get what you pay for. The iPad is a very expensive device so why skimp on its protection if you’re buying a case? Yes, you can get away with a simple cheap plastic or silicone cover. Everyone has an opinion but ultimately it’s down to the user and what they like or don’t like. The Zugu is more expensive but clearly a better quality build with more protective features without feeling overly cumbersome like a military case. I’m not going rock climbing or doing explosive demolition so I don’t need blast protection.
I'm waiting for the marine version of Zugu but :"Unfortunately, we are unsure of an ETA on when we will receive colors. However, we plan on having them available within the months to come. So sorry for the inconvenience" AAArgh!! While waiting for this version I bought the ESR case..
Hey man, can you please check how the Microsoft Wedge mouse works again on ios 13.5? With better trackpad support probably that device's gestures are ALL going to work everywhere the Magic Trackpad would. Also, i appreciate how you treat and handle the products in your videos lately, also nice background music choice. I've re-subscribed.
Ill get zugu over the esr. They are practically the same but zugu seems to be better (material used) zugu case for 11” is only $60 bucks and if you will use it for a long time i think its worth it.
I bought the muse after your review but the the pencil part where the pencil goes is not snug to the case it pulls away from ipad very easily is that just mine
I use esr sentry cover....Nd bro trust me the magnets are stronger than wat u r saying Yes it did attach to my fridge with iPad 12.9 .. May be u have received a faulty product....
The way you hanged it on the refrigerator was completely wrong!! Open up the flap bro. I've been using esr cases for several months and this never happened.
Actually the rubber around the iPad the esr holds better as the part of the pen holder does not stay strong around the screen, not very accurate review, and like the sharks Iam out
Zugu Alpha Case for the 2018 and 2020 iPad Pros. It is just a much better build design and quality material construction. I use the Zugu Alpha everyday on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
The zugu was 60 on Amazon when I bought it. It seems to be consistently 60 there. And the sentry is consistently 45-52. Imo the zugu is much better quality. The flap on the screen moves around a little if you push it and the zugu stays put. I wish this video was a little but more of a comparison to show everything so people could truly see how much better zugu is but it's a side by side at least
@@mohammadjihad569 honestly that is the best thing I ever bought . It’s expensive but for me it’s worth it in every way . I actually bought it a used one so saved money . Try doing the same
shane No its been months haha I can’t. Its fine though. Ill just buy the zugu too. I need options. Unlike my iPhone XR case. I got the UAG darkened-clear case almost 2 years ago when I bought it and I still use it. I want to buy a new case but imma upgrade this year so🤷🏻♂️ But since I don’t plan on upgrading my ipad for a while, ill just buy a new case here and there😂
