I am your shape. I've had to learn to self tailor things (can't get the hang of a machine) in spots by hand. Upholstery NYLON thread is the best that holds up/JoAnn Fabrics. Don't practice on expensive items. Hems are the easiest to start with if you are a true beginner. No time? Just know it's super therapeutic to do when you are stressed before bed
