Question for you edm pros? Happy hardcore? I had a friend in high school who listened to it. It was all a really high bpm. Like 150 or above? Is that right? Does the bpm determine the definition? Or is just dj preference, crowd, dance style?
Tempo of OG 90’s hardcore was 150bpm, evolved from techno but far happier and ended up sitting around 160bpm on release, 170bpm in clubs & events. Happy hardcore must be uplifting, joyous and in sync with all the loved up crowds on molly & speed. More a style thing as dnb will be 174bpm as a baseline in most cases so the tempo does not dictate genre. Samples and synth styles do 🫡
