hello i have transplanted a 32 feet long palm , i ve placed in a 5 feet deep hole then the palm was pruned after not before moving and i was always irrigating it , it is already 2 years and the palm leave are not regenrating but the roots seems to be growing , the palm looks weak , what should I do??
I'm not an expert ,but I'm a Professional landscaper and if I'm not mistaken I remember in school they taught us not to cut the fronds, and the reason being is because Palms any kind of palms they feed through the fronds ,you are only supposed to cut the fronds that are dead or completely brown, any fertilizer or palm food is just to help out the palms, but some of the fronds are ok tu cut for shipping but just the foliage and you are supposed to leave the green fronds to allow the palm to feed, also Boros are super important for 🌴
You may be right especially in established tree the reason for removing these fronds was to minimize loss of water through leaves due to significant loss of roots.
I think that's debatable; I would nonetheless have a hard time cutting the top, despite the purported benefits. I'm going to try and find info from the University of Florida's database, will try to follow up
I think my second attempt to transplant a Sabal palm is not going well, I need to get this right before killing all the ones on my property. I printed some info on the method but am searching all sources.
This would be like an alien picking us up... cutting off all our limbs and saying... well, hopefully this thing survives. If not, oh well. Just grab another.
